    Another difference between bora wind and twisters or hurricanes is that bora is FREEZING.

      Bura is CATABATIC WIND which is running downhill and more dangerous than ADIBATIC WINDS like hurricanes and tornadoes

    And now you know why nothing grows on the SE side of the islands, if you ever wondered why there's only rocks :)
    But, no Bura - no pršut, as others pointed :) Although, this occasion was more to the extreme side than usual.
    Jugo would be another great thing to record, if you want something possibly even more dramatic (no winds like this, but more sea and heavy dark clouds, great drama scenes - if you like shooting nature at it's anger).
    Great shots & kudos to recorders that managed not to freeze their soul to the bone while taking this !

      oh really? Do you have tornadoes, hurricanes, downbursts, microbursts? In Midwest and South they would have laughed at this comment. I love how some people exalts themselves..

      Hi Uncle Trevor, you're right. I have experienced f5 tornadoes and hurricanes (f.e. Katrina) in the US..., and the bora winds. The main difference between a hurricane and a bora is the gustiness of the wind and the size of the effected area. While bora (bura) winds are extremely gusty and the highest wind speeds are measured in the gusts..., the same wind speeds in hurricanes are measured in sustained winds with higher gusts, making a hurricane more dangerous than a bora wind (don't forget the extreme storm surge and rain fall in a hurricane). But wind gusts over 250 kph (155 mph) are possible with a bora. Because of the gustiness, a bora is an extremely dangerous and unpredictable local wind system.

    In America 80 mph wind is "natioal disaster". In Croatia Bora is "queen" of the winds. I think it's just a question of how to build a houses. If you live together with the nature, you know how....

    • @lil_weasel219
      @lil_weasel219 6 лет назад

      Yes , they build them from wood and stuff

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 6 лет назад +6

      PoETheeds
      So are you denying that 90% of houses in USA are built out of wood and dry walls? And like 100% of houses in Europe are built out of bricks or stone? Usually double walled and steel reinforced with almost 1 meter thick like in Croatia? So you're being a typical american then, ignorant and unwilling to accept you're bad at something, and you are horrible at building houses. We don't even build tool sheds as flimsy as you build your homes. Fact is, when a bit of wind blows in your country peoples homes are flattened to the ground and blown to pieces. Those same winds and stronger do nothing to houses in this video. And how the hell is saying that being racist? Are you even aware of what "racist" means? Or are you (again) acting like a typical american talking about things you know nothing about, which you're all experts at apparently? ALso...funny how americans are telling someone they're isolated from the real world...hahah...you are the definition of being isolated from the real world and being brainwashed and delusional about anything that happens outside of your country. It's kind of one of the strongest reputations americans have all over the world.

    • @Kilroy1324

    • @lil_weasel219
      @lil_weasel219 6 лет назад +2

      12+ on Beaufort scale. This one would be equivalent to a cathegory 5 major hurricane if it was measured by a professional almost certainly, here it wasn't so despite this man having measured 302 kmh or 189 mph, it's not an official measurement .The speed of Storms such as this one (+300 kmh) are too great to be measured by devices as they generally break. There were however ones which didn't break, such as this one and the one which recorded the speed of 307 kmh in 2003 between Sveti Rok tunnel and Maslenica. But as the device was not designed for such speeds (300 kmh+) the official record (the one that could be measured completely accurately)is held to be the one measured at 248 kmh near the Maslenica Bridge.

      Cold air comes from the north. It gets stuck when it hits the mountain and then it starts building up. When it reaches the top of the mountain it literally starts spilling down the mountain to the other side. That is Bura. And this mountain called Velebit is making border between continental and mediterranean climate. Sometimes on south side sun is shining and when you go trough the 6 km long tunnel on the other side the snow is falling.

      Dražen Koprolčec dražen koprolčec u sridu :) samo relaksirano, poštovani sukomentatori
      su croats, croatians, kroate, croati .. uglavnom sve samo ne hrvati .. recimo ja radim u turizmu, svi gosti su mi stranci, i svi uče kod mene osnovne fraze na hrvatskom, sretni su i veseli te me obožavaju, kažu da im je jako drago naučiti nešto hrvatskog, kao što im je drago jesti i piti domaće, hrvatske specijalitete. no nažalost to cijenjeni sukomentatori ne shvaćaju, ne shvaćaju elementarnu činjenicu da ako se ne cijeniš sam, niti drugi te neće cijeniti, na nivou pojedinca pa do nivoa nacije. Elem, BURA je jedinstven vjetar, postoji samo na hrvatskoj strani jadrana te kao takav ima samo jedno ime: BURA. Amen..
