Hello, new sub here! I am sooo happy I found your videos! I’m 54 with a 2 decade-long dance (ballet) background and I miss dance so much. I have always wanted to learn belly dancing, and one of my best friends and I found a local class that just started in-person classes again since closing down due to Covid, and we are taking belly dancing lessons starting next week. We are both excited and nervous and your videos are allowing us to get a feel for some of the basic moves before our first class. You are such an amazing teacher and very inspiring! Well, I'm still breathing my second time with you. Remember I'm 65 with some health problems but you're so good with your instructions it's easier for me to follow. When I get stuck I just keep moving whatever the basic move is whether it's hip hip or shimmy shimmy or circle I just keep moving my legs up and down and my hips round and round. You asked what part of the country we live in, I live in Florida I have a house in West Palm Beach on Incorporated and I'm not living there at the moment because I had to come up to Virginia Louisa area to take care of my 92-year-old father and my handicap sister. So for the duration I will be in Virginia next door neighbors honey. Thank you for all of your hard work. CL

Dear jinsuya I am so sorry, the other text I was writing something happened and I guess my finger touched the screen from the side of the phone. I apologize for sending an incomplete message. I'm from Florida for the last 30 years but I'm back up in Virginia taking care of my 92-year-old dad and my handicap sister. I've always enjoyed belly dance even though I never really tried it until now. I was kind of a backward person I waited until I was 60 to get breast cancer and have to get a double mastectomy so I could get new boobs I just don't do it when I'm younger no I wait till nobody's going to notice. But I'll tell you Jensen this belly dance has made me feel alive again. I have less pain I have more energy, and I'm in a better mood just ask my dad. Thanks so much I have tried all different ones of yours and I like them all but I'm not crazy about the hip circle bump thing it makes me feel awkward. But hey if I raise two boys two adulthood, I guess I can figure out how to do the circle bump thing. Thanks a lot. CL

Thanks for this information. One thing I seen.. that for figure 8 vertical in some RUclips channels they are lifting their heels but you are doing it with flat feet. This is bit difficult but really appreciate your efforts to make understand the technique. ❤️
An excellent observation, @Poonam Chaturvedi! I first learned the vertical figure 8 by lifting the heals...my teacher never mentioned that there was another way. I discovered this when I took a workshop from an amazing dancer. Since then (many years ago, I have made it a mission to differentiate basic moves and variations. I would consider lifting the heels a variation. And you are right-it is a difficult move! You can practice it with our beginner drill playlist: bit.ly/JBDBeginDrills ❤️

I'm from Florida for the last 30 years but I'm back up in Virginia taking care of my 92-year-old dad and my handicap sister. I've always enjoyed belly dance even though I never really tried it until now. I was kind of a backward person I waited until I was 60 to get breast cancer and have to get a double mastectomy so I could get new boobs I just don't do it when I'm younger no I wait till nobody's going to notice. But I'll tell you Jensen this belly dance has made me feel alive again. I have less pain I have more energy, and I'm in a better mood just ask my dad. Thanks so much I have tried all different ones of yours and I like them all but I'm not crazy about the hip circle bump thing it makes me feel awkward. But hey if I raise two boys two adulthood, I guess I can figure out how to do the circle bump thing. Thanks a lot. CL

One thing I seen.. that for figure 8 vertical in some RUclips channels they are lifting their heels but you are doing it with flat feet.
This is bit difficult but really appreciate your efforts to make understand the technique. ❤️
An excellent observation, @Poonam Chaturvedi! I first learned the vertical figure 8 by lifting the heals...my teacher never mentioned that there was another way. I discovered this when I took a workshop from an amazing dancer. Since then (many years ago, I have made it a mission to differentiate basic moves and variations. I would consider lifting the heels a variation. And you are right-it is a difficult move! You can practice it with our beginner drill playlist: bit.ly/JBDBeginDrills ❤️
