It looks like the Lenovo 300e is ARM, not Intel. Thus, I think you are out of luck getting Linux working natively on that model. See this for models that this works on (have to be Intel-based)... wiki.galliumos.org/Hardware_Compatibility
I just tested the webcam on an Acer C740 I performed this process on running Xubuntu 22.04.2 LTS and the webcam works fine. When I run lsusb in the terminal I see a Chicony HD webcam is detected. I wonder if the ribbon cable connection the webcam makes withe the mainboard is loose. I believe it's integrated with the display's ribbon cable. You might want to check that connection on both ends if you have the means.
This goes over performing this on a different model, but the process, aside from write protect screw location, is basically the same. docs.google.com/document/d/1yUGx54J4hSaDUeL1F_6JttMmj6WIwY-uJnZz11YswIA/edit?usp=sharing
Thank you Ron Swanson. I'll report back when done.
Mounted behind the TV, got chrome installed, almost have Google remote desktop in working.

Can you please provide the transcript on the command lines you used ?
