      Jack,
Thank you so much for those nice words. I have more coming so keep an eye on the channel.
I really appreciate it because when I started this video series I was really nervous about how they would be accepted by AnyRail users.

If you right-click on the work area, the functions to add a surface, a line, or a ruler are directly available from the pop up menu.

Yeah, i probably should have gone over the right click menu a bit more. Personally I like to add a line, ruler or text from the shortcuts that I placed at the top of the program. The reason for this is, when you use the right click menu to do that, the item you select is placed at the point where the mouse is, kind of like when you do a paste function. I prefer to select the shortcut and then place my mouse on the drawing. I just feel that it gives me more control over what I am doing. This is just a personal preference and both methods work equally well. You just have to pick which method works best for you. Dave

Thank you for these tutorials. Maybe I can do this.

Scott, You're welcome. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. The toughest thing about a CAD program is getting the basics. That is what I tried to cover in my videos. After that, it is just practice. Took me a while to understand FastCAD when I first started using it for work. Spent many hours just experimenting until it made sense. Let me know if it works out for you or if you get hung up on something, let me know and maybe I can do another video covering it a bit more. Dave

I have found that using the arrow keys on the keyboard are useful to navigate around the drawing. If you highlight an object such as track or a building the arrow keys can finesse the object into it's place.

Hi William, That is true. Any object or group of objects can be moved around the screen by using the arrow keys. If you want more precise movement with the arrow keys, hold down the SHIFT key while using the arrow keys. This will allow you to move in 1/64" increments. I go over all of this in later videos.
      Thanks for watching!

    Some extra tips:
There are two more ways to add track from a track library.
The first one is to drag a part from the library onto the work area. Just hover the mouse over the track element in the library that you want, press the left mouse button, hold it down while you drag the part onto the work area, and release the mouse button when the part is in place.
The second one is to immediately connect a part to the part placed just before. To do that, hold SHIFT when you click the part in the track library. The new part will connect to the part you just placed. This can be convenient when you want to add a number of straight or curved elements after another.
About the library panes: you can also nest them. Drag a library onto the title bar of another library, and you will get a 'tabbed' pane with the two libraries.

Great videos thanks. Just come back to this one in case I missed how to save personal Quick Access Toolbar settings. They seem to get lost when re-opening AnyrRail each time.

Andrew, glad the videos are helpful. I have had other people tell me that they lose settings when they open and close AnyRail. I have never had the problem with my computer and I can't find anything in the settings menu that would cause it. If you continue to have the problem, report it to the AnyRail forum. David, the creator of AnyRail, is really helpful with problems that crop up. Dave

First I want to thank you for doing these videos Because the manual is not user friendly. I was placing my track on my new layout. I have a around the room three track main with 2 dble crossovers. and the added some turnouts to start stubs for yards. When I came back the next day to do more work all the track had changed from basic clear to red and I can't figure it out.

Hi George. That is unusual. I can't really think of anything other than somehow, you created a section that is colored red. Click anywhere on the track and the Ribbon bar will change to the Track tab. Then look at the right side of the Ribbon and see if the "Remove Sections" button has popped up. It will have a little colored line at the top and a red X above the Remove Sections text. Click on that it will remove the section and color and put it back to normal. I am assuming you can still edit the track plan? It has only changed color. Hope this helps. If not maybe ask someone in the AnyRail forums. Dave

Thank you for your reply I kind of feel a little embarrassed I don not remember touching the color ribbon but I must have and would not have even thought to look at that even if I knew it was there. Thank you very much.

I have been following your AnyRail6 tutorials and have enjoyed them very much they have been very helpful. I have purchased and installed AnyRail6 for my own. I have been following your tutorial and have been working on my own Railroad Layout Design and all has been going just fine. I have come up with a problem and would like your advice or recommendations if you have the time. When I am working on my layout design I am having an issue with Under the Settings Tab under Track; you have, Allow Mixed Rails Check Box and under Lines and Surfaces; Snap to Grid Check Box and Size. Whenever you try to check these Boxes the Program just kicks you out and are not allowed to use these functions. Any thoughts on just why the Program is behaving this way?

Robert, I am sorry. I thought I replied to you. I checked my program and had no issues. My best advice would be to ask the AnyRail forums oir maybe do a uninstall and the reinstall the program and see what happens. Glad the videos have been helpful. By the way, love visiting Vernal. Been there many times with my daughter and now granddaughters visiting the Dinosaur museum. Great place! Dave
