Great tip on using the centreline for track alignment. I also had never noticed the end point, and the adjustments that can be made with it. Very useful.
These videos are very helpful. Thank you for the time and effort you put in. As a software engineer myself, however, it makes me think that many of the techniques you present are in fact opportunities for the developers of AnyRail to add functionality to their program.
Hi, Thanks! Yeah, I used FastCAD for about 28 years or so when I was with the CBS radio network. We designed all of our projects, equipment, studios, transmitter sites with it. The one thing I look for when I try a new design software is how close it is to a CAD program. AnyRail misses the mark a bit but if you have the background you know what to look for. I hope that some of the things I mention in my videos will migrate into future releases of AnyRail. I guess I should look thru my outlines and make a list and submit it to the AnyRail forum. Take care, Dave
About nudging with the arrow keys: The size of the nudge depends on your measurement system. For inches, it is 1/16", for metric it is 2mm. There's also a mini-nudge when holding SHIFT while using the arrow keys. For inches it is 1/64", for metric it is 0.5mm. You also spotted a bug in the details pane. The angles are accidentally divided by 2.54 when using imperial units (the software is metric internally, and inches are calculated by dividing by 2.54). It will be fixed shortly.
David, again, thank you for the nice feedback and suggestions. I really appreciate them. It looks to me that the 'Shift' key is pretty much a secret weapon. It can be used with several commands. I am going to have too go back into the program and try different commands with 'shift' and 'control'. 'Alt' maybe? Being able to nudge an entity 1/64" is very helpful. Also thanks for explaining the angles in the 'details pane'. I was scratching my head over that one. Dave
Intendi come prendere il progetto e tracciare i binari quando costruisci la tua ferrovia? Spero che Google Translate faccia un buon lavoro sulla mia domanda.
Hi Mike. I have never worked with the Marklin track. My only experience is with Shinohara, Walthers, Atlas and N scale Peco way back when. Maybe I should look at some of the other brands and see what might be different and make a video or two on those differences. Dave
Hi, I think I tried the smooth flex option and it did not work for me. If you have been able to make it work, please let me know how you did it. As for the easement option, I go over some of that in my easement video, but easements take up a large amount of room. Not everyone has the room (I sure don't) to use easements everywhere, even though they look really nice, and for a lot of us we need the space saving, just transistion, into a fixed radius curve. Dave
I COULDN'T FIND THIS MUCH PATIENTLY EXPLANATION IN ANY VIDEO. THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS.
Thank you! Glad you find them helpful. Dave

Why not connect to two ends to the cross rail and just smooth flex?
Ok, va bene per il disegno ma realmente con il binario come si fa'?
Intendi come prendere il progetto e tracciare i binari quando costruisci la tua ferrovia? Spero che Google Translate faccia un buon lavoro sulla mia domanda.
Marklin C Track is much less complicated to work with!

Click on the marklin library. It's AC track. They have DC track in Trix. Curve radius is 30°
Or use easement...
