i have same machine, but the tape draw wont open and after taking the cover of the draw and removing the first plate, the left side of the tape draw is very loos?
I take a rca plug with a 100K ohm resistor across it. Plug it into one of the outputs. I will hook my meter across the resistor. You will need a 3K test tape.

Nice job, Pat!
Thanks Old School. That motor that went bad hardly does anything, funny that is a problem with these.
Did you have to open the cam motor to spray deoxit in there?
I had this model and yes it had a broken belt. Wish I still had it.
Did you say 'spray a little de-oxidant' ?
Excellent video !
Cool, don't think I've seen a mechanism like this one before. This brand made one called Dragon, guys say to be the best deck.
It's strange that that one motor goes bad. All it does is lifts and lowers the heads, hardly run at all.
A lot of the better Nakamichi's used the Sankyo transport.
Dragons are still a bit pricey...they were $2500 in 1982.
@@patrickoconnell3896 Did you have to open the cam motor to clean the brushes? great job on getting it back to life.
Where do you measure the frequency? With the meter?

@@patrickoconnell3896 Thanks... I will try that... I have a tape coming in. Not an original one... But I am not that critical.
funny way of speaking you got:-)
