You can still save money by using a shared Taxi however, if a private taxi is able to offer you good package inclusive of some sightseeing, then I would say please go for it. Also, with a kid, I think it might be more convenient

I don’t remember exactly but I guess they don’t allow taxis after 3pm when Amarnath yatra is going on and maybe after 6pm otherwise 🤔 I am not very confident however as i took the trip a year ago or so
