My man Brian. Clean‘in a little… drink’in a little… chill’in a lot! Who says low n slow only pertains to cooking? It’s good to see different approaches to common tasks. I never deliberately set my pit on fire before… but I think you got me wanting to! Good video Brian, and cheers to you… 🍻🍻🍻!
I tell ya, I’ve tried all different ways, on all different types of smokers, with all kinds of different products and tools. The 500k BTU flamethrower is the fastest. It turns all that grease and gunk to a powder, hit it lightly with a brush, and I just sweep it out. Can’t get easier than that.
@@GrumpusOnFire it gets up in all those hard to reach spaces, and you don’t have to mess with any chemicals in the cooking chambers. I just throw a little citrus safe on the grates just to make sure they are completely clean before re-seasoning
Howdy. So I did think you were going to clean the 500 , but this was good to. I didn't recognize your smoker but it looked like a great workhorse. When spraying the greats I do something that I don't know if anyone else does this, but I hate wasting things so here goes. I lay the grates flat over a box I have. One grate on top of the other. But as I stack I off set them each just a little bit. This way all the spray that passes through hits the next, then the next, etc. When done spraying I flip them over and repeat. This really reduces wasting and also takes less time then spraying individually. The coverage is great because as the spray passes each grate it creates a turbulence that helps to distribute the spraying really well. Last thing I do that I'm not sure if anyone else does is I don't paint the outside of the smoker. When it's still hot/ warm I apply a little cooking oil about every other cook to the outside of the cooker, right over the original paint. Do as needed. Just a light amount , not heavy. If you put on to much it will get sticky. It works really great for me so just a thought. Anyway I haven't seen any update on your food trailer? I'm going into Portland this Saturday. Apparently a food trailer bbq business that has several locations will be closing in a few weeks permanently and I'm curious about what they are planning on doing with their trailers and 500 gal smokers. Perhaps a opportunity to get my business a earlier start. Anyway, have a great day. FYI, personally my favorite beer ( besides the free beer handed to me) is Windermere Brothers Hefeweizen. But keep in mind I lived just north of the Brewery, maybe 15 miles, so it was also support your local Brewery thing. Well chores to do, a little outdoors cooker cleaning to do. Heck Dashes Porchetta video today has me in the mood to do one. Porchetta lunch meat would be great for next week. Perhaps Porchetta Mack and Cheese, or - - - ? Ahhhh , Porchetta, hmmmm. 😁👍🌤🍻
I’ve tried it both ways, stacked and unstacked with the grates, and just prefer doing them individually in the pit so all that overspray coats the interior. Either way it takes me 4 cans of oil for this pit and internals. The 500 is out of commission until the lawsuit is finished. They still haven’t set a date. It’s aggravating. My trailer build I’ve been posting on Instagram. Hopefully I’ll have enough footage for a video soon!
@@TexasBBQGuy I'm sorry to hear about a Lawsuit. I hadn't heard anything about it. Did I miss a video discussion about this? And just so you know I have a problem with making short comments. Yup sometimes I get a little long on these. So my apologies when I go long. Take care and good luck.🌤👍🍻
@@victorbenner539 I’ve mentioned it a few times in different comment threads, but not on video. Only a few people know the whole story, but I’ve been holding off on doing a full video until the court date, just for the fact I’m holding all the cards. No worries brother!
@@TexasBBQGuy well when the dust settles do a video, I'm very concerned. Until then yup it's probably better not to discuss this on RUclips. This is one of the most underrated pit masters out there. THE Texas bbq guy!!!! Dude thanks for this video.
Thanks brother!
