charlie didnt write it lol, he said in an interview he played the keyboard loop and kid laroi just started singing to it and thats how he cam up with it. charlie came up with the instrumental but did not write it.
when they say "i wrote this song" they dont mean lyrically. he co-produced it tho. so when ppl say "i wrote it" theyre saying they wrote it "musically" not literally write the lyrics. so yes he did write it. in fact it says his name in the description
also i JUST now checked. and it literally says written by charlei puth as well. so not only did he co produce the song and basically start it all off with that unique melody but he literally helped write it as well, behind the scenes ofc
