Interesting how Invacare’s LCD display was so poorly made. I’m surprised my Invacare TDXSP didn’t need any more repairs except bearing replacements and brake dust removal.
The only time that I had trouble with my joystick is when it got really wet from the rain when I was trying to get it into the bowling alley. We got the chair in and out of the rain, so we turn off the chair to wipe off the controller to get the rain off of it and the screen froze on the chair and it wouldn’t do anything. But in a matter of 30 minutes after leaving the power switch in the off position the screen went black and I started in chair and the screen flickered for a second but it came back to life!
The only severe thing that happened to the chair was the engine seal dying on it shortly after I ordered the Permobil F3. Hard to believe this baby is four years old already! I’ve only had two visits to the repair shop on this thing. The first stop was just to have my lights installed, and the second visit was to get my seat elevator replaced when it had that Chewbacca virus when the elevator went down.

I am a care giver to
My Aunt who is in a wheelchair and her wheelchair is very frustrating! It reads slow down and it’s not tilted and all the way down? It hardly moves? Also when turning the joystick to the right or left it goes the opposite way! We bought a new joystick on eBay and we had to replace the batteries. Thank you. Jerry

I kinda like invacare, thing do break but they keep going. My old wheelchair it's invacare and the Mercury switch it's broken, so it's stuck on slow mode but still runs. The joystick some time doesn't have contact but I wiggle a little and still runs. The right motor makes a noise but keeps going. Never has left me stranded. This new one I have it just stops for little error codes and I can't mess with it because of the guarantee so I need to keep resting. Has left me stranded countless times I hate it. I hope I can get a new one this year.

Hello, I am from Chile and I need help, I have a tdx sp with mk6 mpjc control, when I turn on the chair I show "READY TO DRIVE", the legs, backrest and seat functions are performed without problems but when starting the march it changes to "CONTROLLER FAULT".

I have a question for you. If you buy a new or used joystick are they plug and play or do they need to be programmed for your chair?

    • @TotallyNormal-

on R-net powered chairs the controller will auto detect everything the first time its plugged in and powered up

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  3 года назад +1

That ones easy.. stop trying to give it 36 volts! Lol unfortunately none of the stock controllers can handle more than 24 volts. You’d have to go with something custom made, or like a roboteq controller. But that’s an entirely different can of worms- and EXPENSIVE!

@@TotallyNormal- that's pretty much the conclusion I've arrived at but haven't given up on the dragster wheelchair idea. I was going to upgrade to the Mk6i stick and whatever controller is the strongest in terms of current. Do they even offer a 120amp controller (invacare /shark) that's compatibile? I know that the expandable controller is a must of I plan on retaining the functionality of a power chair and not simple making a go kart out of the thing. I don't want to do that. I build and design personal electric transport and have found ways to make everything ice ever got my hands on go fast. I will modify the controller it whatever it takes. I'm just trying to arrive at knowing that for sure. The whole power chair thing is new to me. I'm disabled but not chair bound. I've wanted one for a long time and have several designs for extreme MOD of one of these. Then finally got the chance to get a nearly new M51 and couldn't pass it up. Most of the 120amp controllers I've seen so far are not invacare devices. What's the best most expandable stick/120 controller I could make work on this chair? Do you know? Help me get to the bottom of this and when my Eternity powerplant is ready I'll set you up with turbo power. I'll send you a link when I unveil the VampHigher™ Eternity powerplant. The prototype is already built and on the way. This chair is now a challenge. Again, love your tubes and have learned a lot very quickly

IMO anything except R-Net controllers are just toys :^) its the only legit mainstream control system out there right now! it runs a network and ya can just addon things no problem.. auto detects and everything! BTW tomorrow im picking up a professional soccer chair.. ill be making a video about it.. but wait till ya see what this thing can do.. they run R-net electronics and they're TRULY dangerously fast! haha invacare has a 90 amp controller as the 'top end' one FYI..

    Hey Totally,
I have a TDXSP with the MK6i with the color screen. I just searched RUclips and came across this video. My MK6i has an issue with the on/off/toggle switch. It still works, but it acts like the springs or rubber bands that hold the switch in place broke/came off/died! If I move the switch up to the on position, it stays right there and runs. If I try to toggle to the next program, it changes to it, but the switch won't return to the on position by itself. The chair won't move until I pull the switch back to the middle, and then it runs the new program.
I tried to see when you had it open,, but I could not see the inside of that switch. Did you happen to see that, or do you know if that switch is repairable/replaceable? If I could swap out a switch from another joystick, that would certainly beat paying a repair shop to order and install a new one! Enjoyed your video. Thoughts?
    Kent

ive found usually in that scenario - the set screw that holds the toggle in place has come a bit loose.. there should be 2 set screws on the bottom of the switch (maybe one on some models) getting it back in the right position, and tightening it up should fix it - unless the switch is ACTUALLY bad.. does the toggle seem to have a bit of play in it? or feel like its kinda has mushy movement to it?

    • @kenthoward2666

@@TotallyNormal- Thanks for the reply. That was the first thing I checked when the problem started, as I did have a joystick where the screws wouldn't hold. On that one the switch still returned to the middle position like normal, but the knob just slid around. On this one, the knob is holding on tightly, but the switch moves wherever I move it, and it works when I move it to the correct position, but it doesn't return from the drive select position by itself. I have to move it back to On manually, and the chair will not move until I do. It seems to move pretty much like always, but only where you move it. No snap back to On, and no real stop in the exact On position as you manually move it there. I have to manually find the sweet spot so it will go. Ever see that before?
