    If you come down to Hobart again you should definitely go to Lucinda and Sonny they are wine bars that also serve tapas. Amazing wines and atmosphere. I’ve heard Molto is pretty good also. Also Aloft, Frank and the Waggon are a couple more incredible restaurants you might want to try. 😊

    Great video, gives me an idea of a few more places to visit on my next Tassie trip. I was down in Hobart in May last year, went to Port Arthur, didn't quite get up Mt Wellington due to black ice on the road, saw MONA that was something else, loved a lot of the exhibits they were fantastic but some extreme adult paintings on the lower level the content is outright sickening, but other than that MONA is awesome!

    • @larrylim
      @larrylim  Год назад

      Hey Troy! Glad you got some places to visit next time. Curious how was Port Arthur, worth the visit? Haha yes MONA is quite unique hey.

    • @troysvisualarts
      @troysvisualarts Год назад +1

      @@larrylim Port Arthur is a great place to see if you have an interest in colonial history, there you get to see the ruins of Tasmania's notorious penitentiary and learn about its history through a guided tour in which the guide explains each building and the system they had for the convicts. Also there is a boat tour which takes you around the bay showing the locations of the outer reaches of the penal colony and the guide talks about the history of those locations too. It is definitely worth checking out if you're into history!

    • @larrylim
      @larrylim  Год назад

      @@troysvisualarts amazing! I'm sure people that see your comment will appreciate it if they're thinking of visiting Port Arthur!

    • @Salutimondo
      @Salutimondo Год назад

      Personally as a Tasmanian, I think going to Port Arthur is interesting if you want to hear about the history of the penitentiary and see some beautiful scenery but as you say, the buildings are in ruin. If you want to see a fully intact convict era gaol you are better off going to the village of Richmond which is also far more accessible than Port Arthur. The gaol at Richmond is intact and has various cells that you can actually go into and close the door on. Small admission charge.

    • @troysvisualarts
      @troysvisualarts Год назад +1

      @@Salutimondo Thanks. I actually did visited Richmond gaol as well on my Tassie trip on the way back from Hobart

    Hi thank you so much for your vlog. Is Hobart 'doable' if one don't drive? Are most places/restaurants you mentioned easily accessible by public transport? I am planning a trip with my son in May 😊 Appreciate your advice. 🙏

    • @larrylim
      @larrylim  2 года назад +1

      Hey there I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! For the cafes/restaurants in Hobart city, you can definitely walk or catch a cheap Uber ride. However, if you're going to the wineries that I mentioned you will need to go on a tour which I think is a good idea so you can enjoy the wines :) As for Mt Wellington, there are buses and tours you can go on :)

    Thank you for being honest in your reviews and mentioning your NOT TOO GOOD experiences. As you said, they are all pleasant but perhaps not great for the price you pay. I’m sure there are better options. You just have to keep visiting the region and reviewing more places. Funny you said you are Pinot drinkers but you found the chardonnays better?. Having such a cool climate, Pinots from Tassie are allegedly the best downunder, but I had the same impression recently and as a Pinot lover myself I did not find tassie Pinots up to scratch as they were 10-20 years ago. Grape or Vintage problems? climate change? Not sure what is happening to Tassie Pinots. Better to stick to their sparkling and whiskey.

    • @larrylim
      @larrylim  7 месяцев назад

      Hey thanks for the comment!! Glad you like the video. I’m glad we wernt the only ones that didn’t have a good Pinot 😂 we were actually surprised the chardonnays were such a standout compared! I need to visit again to try more wineries, one visit isn’t enough!
