I found a kitten on the streets of Philly after I left this show. He was super thin, had burs all over his, matted hair and singed whiskers. He followed us all the way back to my car. We took him home and he was the most affectionate cat ever. Took him to the vet, fed him, and loved him. His name is Tiger (after We Tigers). Still have him to this day. Now he's living the life and is the best cat ever. This was a special night for me and him. Thank You AC.
Thats awesome. I love going to see them live. Ive only been to 3 shows and made friends because of it. Theres a magic to their atmosphere. Happy for you and Tiger.
I always found the drumming on Purple Bottle to be stellar and unique unto itself in terms of style. He's one of the most talented modern day drummers we have.
The drumming on Chores and Cuckoo Cuckoo alone are like the products of a surreal dadaist composer. I was lucky enough to see them on this tour at the Black Cat in DC and it was just as magical as what you see here.
Best band of the 2000s...I can't think of any other act in that decade that has come close to the sustained level of creativity and quality that these guys brought.
ShareYourGoodies SYG They were unique in the fact that they are no-holds-barred, abstract and unabridged CREATIVE music makers (at least during that 1999-2006 era). Everyone else making music today is too safe with where they want their music to go in the studio. I remember when AC didn't know how to explain their genre of music... all those interviewers kinda forced them to establish walls so they can verbalize what they were even aiming for... Which is a shame really. They inspired soo many people to make music and be generally cool/unpretentious people.

It is great to see. But not unusual at all. Geo actually usually looks like he’s the one getting the most into the music at live shows in my opinion. He probably has so much fun with the samples, synths, effects and textures that he adds.
palbo4 Haha, I thought the same thing when I saw your initial comment. Like, this is honestly my all-time favorite live performance of any artist/group I listen to. Trippy.
This is the best recorded performance during the best live era of this band. This is peak AC. Thanks for this Rampface. I saw them a few days later in Boston. I was 20 and it still stands as the most beautiful live music experience I have ever had.
Set is was amazing. Loved the guy dancing through the stage during grass, pretty sure Avey is smiling right before he starts singing lol. Also loved the "You guys are doing a pretty good job" guy.
Un freakin real man. I love them so much. The "ayeyeah" in the transition from daffy duck to safer sounds like a distorted version of the "ayeyeah"s from their untitled song that they played at their Other Music set from 2004. These guys never cease to amaze me or transcend this earth.
That transition almost reminded me of the beginning of Turn into Something. Man I really wish I would’ve gotten to see these guys live during the touring cycle for Feels. I was definitely a massive fan at that point, but just never had the opportunity, or one that I knew of. I would, however, get to see them one year later in the spring of 2007 at the show where they debuted the material that would become Merriweather Post Pavilion. Two nights in a row. And two of the most ecstatic experiences I’ve ever had. I am just so thankful that these four friends decided to share their music with the world. It truly has a very special emotional resonance. Hopefully I will be seeing them again this March. Haven’t seen them since way back in 2007, and I need to make up for it. Couldn’t be more stoked.
One of my most favs...I remember I had a dream where I was somehow playing it on a guitar (I don’t know how to play a guitar) and I woke up and I immediately put on my record and laid down and relaxed 😌
his guitar sounded very out of tune at the end. i think he might have broken a string or something, had no idea what to do and went up to avey to break the news to him.
@@michaelmireles4480 I remember watching this the week before centipede dropped now I can't believe how long _that's_ been. Most of these songs they will never play live again.
Nathaniel Gardner 404s came out in 2005 I’m pretty sure. He’s probably using the Sp404 since I think he’s stated that that’s what he started with. Panda Bear on the other hand started with two sp303’s the upgraded to two sp555s and eventually the electron microtrack I believe.
kudos to the camera man for not jamming at all keeping our video quality clean and unshaken, i would never be able to record at an animal collective show cuz i would be viibing too hard
Thank you very much for the uploading rampface85. Gig's amazing. Did they ever pull out a recording of Safer and Street Flash? what records can I find them on?

Damn gonna make a homie cry over here. Thats so beautiful.
So Animal Collective helped u collect animals eh
I'll have to admit that was a nasty joke
cool story bro
35 minutes and they got through 3 songs what legends
Still shorter then swans
Strawberry Jam was not even out by then, and they're already doing an amazing live version of Fireworks.
The way they play with creative sampling and textures is like nothing else. In the future people will study Animal Collective in music classes.
so true
exactly why i love anco
The future is now.
@@Sound8VisionVibe the future is nower
Lol young people always think they're the first to discover some shit.
Noah’s drumming on here is probably the best drum work I’ve ever listened to in terms of sheer creativity
he is crazy underrated
I always found the drumming on Purple Bottle to be stellar and unique unto itself in terms of style. He's one of the most talented modern day drummers we have.
I would say second to STGSTV

he was always cool
yo that setlist is the most unreal thing i've ever seen good lord
you obviously have not seen my butt yet then
I can vouch for this cats butt, its next level.
@@CameronFB bruh thats my old account. dont remember writing this
Seriously- cuts off Sung Tongs, Feels, Strawberry Jam, AND the Water Curses EP?? Completely nutso

kinda weird to hear someone talk about them in that way.. but yeah its been almost 10 years since this show damn..
I'd say maybe the Mars Volta and The Dillinger Escape Plan would be contenders
+Erik Pontifex Yeah. They're really like no other. Honestly The Beatles of this generation
+Ryan Curran They are unique in what they do ... the beatles is another way

A few bleepers, a couple bloopers, and a whole lotta soul.
probably several Boss SPs, either 303, 404, or 555
