    Hey if you would it have change the tank for a desert gas tank what year would you use

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад

      Oliver Ramirez What I found during my research was that the 2009 through 2015 all use the same Desert tank. (If using a Acerbis Desert tank). That tank comes with 2 sets of bolt holes that will bolt up to both the 09-11 kx450f & the 2012-2015 kx450f! I would definitely recommend the Acerbis Desert / Oversized Tank if you were looking to purchase one. Hope that helps!!

    Would you happen to know the fuel pump big O-ring dimensions? I'm waiting for a 2015 tank to show up that'll be put on a carbureted bike. An O-ring from the dealer is a too long 3 week wait. Part number 670E5070. The 5070 might possibly be relevant? Cheers

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад +1

      This should also work for the 250 as well! In 2012 the PC team did the 13-16 rear end conversion, so I don’t doubt that if you swap to a 13-16 gas tank, it should all line up; but I would take a look and do some parts referencing to verify before hand. Ect: look at the desert tank for the 11-16 250f tanks and see if it’s the same part number

      Yes sir! This will work on the 2009-2012 kx250f as well. Pro circuit did this same essential update on their 2012 machines, which inspired me to do this to my 450!

    Hey Greg,
    Does the 2015 plastics not fit on the older fuel tank at all? I've got the exact same idea as you but does it Require me to buy the newer fuel tank?

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  3 года назад +1

      With some custom made brackets I remember reading that you could use the older tanks! I know on the fuel tank the bolt holes sit in a slightly different position. Uploading a new video on my conversion hope is answers some of your questions!

    Dang man!! I've been looking for a video like this for a while. 2 questions did you swap just the airbox or the boot too? Also did you have to get a new seat?

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад +1

      Mr. Dirty Fender I swapped the air box, using the same boot! And yes, I had to get a new seat. I searched eBay for a seat and picked one up for around $80!

      @@GregsGarage21 Is there any chance you can break this down more. Lol. So you have a 2011 kx450 frame and subframe what year and parts did you put on it? (If you could list every plastic that would be awesome!)

  • @TheMaly4u

    but does not yoy bike have carburator, the newer tank has pump?

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  2 года назад

      No sir! The 2011 were fuel injected! That last carbureted 450 was In 2008, and the last carbureted 250 was in 2010!
      So fuel tank is a simple swap over!👍🏼

    I’m looking to put 2015 plastics on my 2011 kx450f. Do I need to do any modifying or will the plastics go on? I can get the 12-15 tank

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад +1

      Wyatt Garner no modification needed! If you get a 2012-2015 gas tank, the shroud plastics will bolt right up. As for the rear, you’ll just need to buy a 12-15 air box, and then all the plastics will bolt up. Front fender bolts up, front number plate has different bottom mounting, so you can use a Cyrca front plate for 12-15 and it will all work out! :)

    • @wyattgarner259

      Blake Moore 2009-2015 acerbis desert tank for a 450, doesn’t have to be the bigger tank tho

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад

      Blake Moore I used a 450 tank for this! The 250 & 450 tanks are different from what I researched; so make sure if you’re doing it for the 450, to get a 450 fuel tank

    I wanna do this on my 2011 kx450f super bad, if I get the 12-15 gas tank would 15 shrouds bolt right up? Or would I need to get full 2012 plastics

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад

      As long as you use a tank from 12-15 it will all bolt up! The only really mounting difference is the front plate, and you’d have to use a Cyrca stadium front plate or find a way to mount the bottom pins of the front plate (which is super easy to do) to give the front end the 2015 look. But as for the shrouds, the 12-15 gas tanks should all fit and all the shrouds will bolt up (12-15) let me know if there’s anything else you need help with, I’d love to help everyone achieve this look!

    • @GregsGarage21

      Enchanted Eagle yes! You’re right! The new tank is slightly smaller; but for racing that adds as a benefit (light weight and slimmer feel). Just have to be more cautious about fuel when out in the desert :)

    This is awesome.. I would love to do this to my 2011 KX450F. I had a 2013 KX250F previously and it felt so much slimmer, so this might be great for me. Also, did you do the rear plastics too or was this purely just a front end swap? Thanks for sharing!!

    • @GregsGarage21
      @GregsGarage21  4 года назад +1

      justinloughrie15 i have the rear plastic conversion done as well! Using the 2011 Rear subframe, just had to purchase the 2012-15 rear air box, fender and side plates to swap the rear end. The bike is so much slimmer with the full conversion, completely worth it in my opinion! Just added a Pro Circuit T6 Carbon from a 2015 kx450 and everything bolts up perfectly 👍🏼💪🏼
