Nice video Would this work on a '20 Ram 1500 Hemi and does it have to be that specific Aux switch part or any other one that comes close to my original toggle switches. Thanks again for the awesome video
Since it's a hemi, I don't believe you'll have the PDC (fuse) box under the hood so you'd probably have to source a fuse box as well. You'll also want to check the plug behind your piano style controls to ensure you have your 6 signal wires coming from it. As far as part number goes, there's a chart I found at hdram forums here: hdrams.com/forum/index.php?attachments/1621983175046-png.16833/ You'll have to create an account/ sign in but it's free. The chart displays what the part number will be given which features you need.
How did you chase down which wire was connected to each switch? Plugging in the light bar to each of the 6 red leads coming out of the PDC while toggling each switch in the cab to see which one powered up? I guess you could also use a multi-meter and test for 12VDC on each lead while you toggle the switches and ground to the frame.
You're correct. I used a multi meter like you described. Checked each one to see which of the uconnect wires I connected the T Taps to activated which switch prior to reinstalling the 12" screen.
@@HarrisonsGarage Thanks for the quick reply. Did you do this before you connected the white wires from the T taps into the PDC? Did you need to configure/enable the switches in AlfaOBD to do this or were you doing this some other way?
@@nicholasdoolin8659 you'll need to activate the switches using alfa obd then use the multimeter to ping them but this is definitely a bit difficult (using alfa obd with the Uconnect unplugged scares me a bit) . Alternatively, and more easily, you can simply let the order of the switches be random, assemble it all, activate with alfaobd and then ping the fuses 1 at a time. Then just note what fuse is what and you're good to go. The fuses in the fuse box will be in different orders than factory trucks but that doesn't matter.
@@HarrisonsGarage Right, that was what I was wondering. You’d know which Red wire off the PDC went to what aux switch but the fuse order in the PDC would not match the factory diagram. Since you have the eco diesel i don't see why it would differ too much. I'd first check that the pdc in the engine bay is in the same spot and ensure with the free version of alfa obd that it looks like it will connect to your truck.
Not that I found at least not two years ago when I set about doing it. When I looked into it not only was there no kit but I was told by multiple dealers that it was impossible if my truck didn’t come with them.

I suppose it's possible but would be a lot more difficult since the factory harness has another stop to make at the XY125A connector down near the gas pedal. That connector is loaded with other connections and hard to access. Also when I was looking at this I ruled out the factory harness because it was very expensive (Cost more than the entire install).

I did realize the wires I was using were stiff and the sheathing want the best and made sure to run it far from any of the main heat sources. Had I known to look for TXL at the time I definitely would have gone that route.
TXL is actually a thin polyethene insulation with low abrasion but high heat rating (125C). Despite this high heat rating, most underhood temperatures can reach beyond 125C especially in turbocharged applications. Always run your wire away from heat sources and check for an abrasion free environment. Most wire rated for 75C or 90C will be appropriate for automotive work as long as it is jacketed.. If there is concerns about heat, upsize the wire awg for your application and de-rate if it is placed next to other current carrying conductors

Would this be the same for the hemi minus the brake
Yes I assume it would be. If you DM me on Instagram @harrisons.garage I can send you the part number matrix. Do be aware though that with a hemi I don’t believe your truck comes factory with the pdc box under the hood.
@@HarrisonsGarage I just added/ dm you
Anybody aware of the part number for a aux switch bank with just tow/haul and exhaust brake. I have a tradesman and would like to do the factory switches
Should be 68376638AE. I believe this part number has since been replaced by 68596336AA. You can buy it online (store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-instrument-panel-switch-68596336aa?c=az0xJnE9NjgzNzY2MzhBRQ%3D%3D) or through your local dealer.
Does this work on a 2022 Ram 2500? The AlphaOBD
I'm not sure what the compatibility is like for 2022 but I'm sure you can connect the software developers on the alfa obd website. They're very responsive.
@@HarrisonsGarage okay, thank you for replying so quick. I’d like to add a lightbar but don’t have the factory aux switches and don’t really want to go with an aftermarket one. I’ll contact them and find out. Thanks.
Will this work on a tuned Ram?
I can't think of any reasons why it wouldn't. The aux switch assembly shouldn't interact with any of your tunes.
Still working with no issues?
Absolutely! It's turned out to be one of the best and cleanest upgrades I've ever done
@@HarrisonsGarage how long did it take for the relays to get to you? i tried finding some US located ones but there arent many options/not spending $20 per fuse
@@jameslarson8640 it wasn't too bad. I want to say it took something like 3 weeks or so. I had some other projects I knocked out while waiting on them so it didn't feel so bad.
