This is such a good video. So much good info and great advice. I'm in the middle of building a KA. I will definitely do this before installing the engine in my wagon since I have a new aftermarket front cover. 👍🏼
You can also use a transmission filling pump to prime your engine but that weed killer pump is a fantastic cheap alternative, oh a good source to connect it is by the oil pressure gauge sensor, T in a fitting and pump away, this goes for all engines.
Hell ya man, I've been watching for a while now. Love the datvacado. I remember that feeling well on my dime.. keep it up. Can't wait to hear It Make choo choo noises
24:43 'went to the hardware store and got a fitting that fit' this could be really bad as BSPT and NPT are almost identical, you WILL CRACK the aluminum housing if you thread a NPT into a BSPT bung. JDM stuff is generally BSPT as it has more threads and is therefore more better.
In this case I left the valve disconnected and capped off the hard vacuum line that runs underneath the intake near the throttle body. The idle is then set with the screw on the throttle body, and fine tuned with the VE table and timing table.
Was a bit of a cringe the first half of the video being an auto electrician but it turned out to be a good video. The idle use timing, alot of cars run without iacv and just add timing to keep the idle stable.
I'm very concerned that you dont understand oil pumps and how they work, you know that you could have just OVERFILLED the engine with an additional 5 QTS of oil, which would have submerged the oil pump gears under oil, spin the motor to see pressure on the gauge, drain all, fill properly, done. but good video either way little manlet.

Awesome! I’m glad it helped!
Yes!
Yeah buddy!
Congratulations!! This is so amazing and such a great job. Cannot wait to see the next video!
Thank you! Hopefully we’ll get some driving footage!
@@BuildSeason I've got a 69 two door that has sat without an engine for 20 years and this is totally inspiring me to resurrect it!!! Thank you!
@cmcferin Glad to hear it! If you want, email me a picture!

Good tips. Thank you!

Same here! Turbo noises are what it’s all about!
25:00 if you are trying to get a oil pump to prime just lift the back of the car up in the air causing the oil level to submerge the oil pump.
Thanks for the comment!

I was going to do the same thing with the weed sprayer. Ill have to borrow that!
Whenever you need it. It also works for filling transmissions with gear oil.
Nice work!
Thank you!
What do you half to do to not run a idle air control valve

it lives!!! fuck ya!!! cant wait to see this thing out on the road!!
Hopefully it’s on the road soon!
dude, i bet that feels great!
Yes it’s an awesome feeling when the engine finally fires up!
Congratulations and good work!
Thanks a lot! This has been a big project.
Yes, that's was great 👍🏽
Fuck yea!! This give me motivation to get my rusty 72 510wagon back on the road I just need to mount a Holley electric fuel pump under the rear seats.
That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear these videos are helpful/motivating for others. That alone makes the filming/editing worth it.
Hell yah man!!!! 🎉
I’m pumped this thing finally runs!
I runs!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind trying to get it dialed in.
