I was in a syndicate with a horse with charles and never again will we have a horse with him...he is a gentleman and a lovely man but he doesn't have the mindset of a modern trainer as in if a group of lads in the syndicate want to go to the yard to see the horse on the gallops on a Saturday morning he just point blank says you can come on Tuesday or Thursday mornings no other mornings but the odd Saturday mornings you can call..he tells you nothing just we are told the horse is running here at a certain day no warning a few weeks before just told two days before and as a syndicate you have no time to gather lads to go racing and enjoy watching the horse..we have two horses with shark hanlon now and the man couldn't be more helpful and more welcoming us into his yard..we have lads working all different jobs and when they can get a chance they like to go see the horse work and all shark says is ring me and tell me you are coming so I know you are coming and you are more than welcome any morning of the week..
They would not tell you where a birds nest was and indeed why should they ? punters always looking for something for nothing. Owners put all the money into the training so they should be the ones getting the info. Punters (like me) need to sharpen our skills to identify when they are really trying, it is our only weapon without inside information.
He's def got 1 lined up judging by his sneaky grin when asked & he turned & looked away & I hardly caught a name, but we usually know when the cash starts going on
