Great review man! I just got a Hisense U68g and I'm so happy with it! It's very bright, it handles all the HDR standards, no soap opera effect, I'm very impressed with Hisense. It looks better than my Sony x750h. I got a TCL Series 4 before and I was so disappointed, ok image quality and it made a noise when it was turned on, I sent it back. Hisense is knocking it out of the park. Great video my friend! Keep em' coming!
I’ve had LG, Hisense, and TCL in the last couple of years and this model easily is my favourite, especially for gaming! Next piece of the puzzle for me is an HDMI 2.1 capable AVR for more ports (I need minimum 3 HDMI 2.1 but preferably 4) that supports next gen gaming features so I can pipe uncompressed audio vs bitstream through eARC and my experience will be perfectly suited to where I want it to be :)
Nice! I didn’t realize Costco started carrying the U88. When it was launched it was only at Visions. Costco is the way to go with their awesome warranties
I've been considering this tv for a few months but the reviews have been so mixed. My only concern was ghosting at 120hz but between your excellent video and the reassuring comments from other buyers, I feel alot safer making this purchase. Thanks a bunch!
In a major way! Premium features for a nudge price should start to disrupt the market in a positive way for consumers to start getting more for their money 👊
I’ve got videos on both consoles so far with Apple TV coming soon. Also covering an hdmi 2.1 120hz switch this week to connect multiple items to the one free hdmi 2.1 port (1 lost with earc avr).
My advice, make sure you check the black uniformity with the local dimming off when you get one. I didn’t realize how much clouding and flashlighting my panel had until I was out of the return period.
I find mine with the local dimming off playing my Series X is still fantastic. Outside of that my LD is always enabled. You may still be able to register for the 100 day guarantee to put you back into the return window too, but I’m not sure how back that applies to for previous purchases.
I always try to help smaller brands that do things differently like Hisense tvs and the one plus phone’s. I could’ve went out and got an Samsung or an lg tv. But watching some videos on RUclips quickly learn Hisense knows what there doing and how to do it great tv I’m happy I got mine few weeks ago
It is NOT smaller brand ! It’s just brand that selling sell well in Asia n some part of Europe they didn’t think North America market is worth their effort ! I told my husband the Lenovol Computer 💻 commecial was 1 is first TV commercials i remember in mid 1980s in China 🇨🇳. My husband so shocked 😳:” what ! That old ? I thought is small new brand !” Lol Lenovol bought IBM computers . Same with Hisense , 2020 Samsung sold 40 million panels , LG 19 million , Lenovol 18 something million . Then TCL then Xiaomi (chinese brand ). Sony don’t even make to top 5 panel selling . This U88G panel is sold $400 more in China for same size . Grab 1 before price continuesely hike ! They r going to be Samsung price soon . My friends tell me those crazy Xiaomi phones 📱 s etc so much more advanced 5G tech, they don’t bother with selling their premium stuff here . Ps Hisense bought Sharp Tv , n recently Toshiba TV brand . It’s HUGE brand . Their U8DG 4K Tv has dual Processors. $$$ tho
So i just bought 3 of the 65" here in the US @ $999. Turning the basement into a Sportsbar, so it will be incredibly interesting to see the variance between the 3
@@qwazyd0gg that's my intent! I'm going to put in some neon bar lights and have a smart home setting for pregame and in game so that is really like a sports bar
I got the U7G 65 because the U8G 65 I ordered was sitting out on a ship in Long Beach. Best Buy had the U7G in stock plus the price of $899.99 was amazing. I saw a direct comparison of the two and the U8G can get black crush. I've asked reviewers if just backing off the contrast a bit would fix that but got no reply. Hisense also gives you 100 days to change your mind if you want. I love my U7G but it doesn't seem to have the OLED pop. Don't know how to describe it but you know what I'm talking about so I may switch to the U8G. I also loaded Downloader and my Sterling TV and a few other movie apps onto the TV itself and now I don't even use my Firestick 4K.
The U7G is an exceptional panel. The missing POP factor is just because of the reduced FALD zones that brings the brightness down from 1500+ nits to I believe closer to 1000+ nits. It still features all the same HDMI ports and features as the U8G, as well as the same panel aside from the backlight zones.
@@qwazyd0gg, are you referring to the local dimming zones? I also have my settings for TV and RUclips on Standard, (TV is in the living room), the brightness and contrast are around 50 as is the color. I've watched many test patterns at 4K on RUclips to adjust the levels and still see all the shades of gray and white.
Yes, FALD is full array local dimming. I tend to only use standard for SDR for more pop, and favour theatre night for everything else for more accuracy.
The comments section has seen such amazing participation and honestly contains so much worth while information. I’m super fortunate to have had such strong community participation on this video. Thanks for watching 👊
I was convinced to buy this telly (even more after watching this vid) but looks like on UK market its a bit different - as of Jul 22: the avg price is around £750 which is around 900$ (apart from couple dodgy shops selling it for around £600) For £800 we can get here samsung QN90A - which is a better telly overall and with less issues reported or sony x90j which is actually cheaper (seen live and its great telly too). If i'd live in USA - I'd go for hisense though.
So the first thing to research on your market would be whether or not it has hdmi 2.1, as some international models don’t. The motion has been the largest downfall of the Samsung from what I’ve seen, which may also be an improvement on the Hisense. If it has 2.1, do the Hisense. If not, do the Samsung.
Hey man Hisense can have some of the other TV manufacturer's getting a little worried with what they are offering for the price point they have for their TVs. A backlit remote IMAX enhanced Dolby vision and Atmos super brightness gaming features and most importantly a TV for everyone's budget and to top things off you get a good tv no matter which one you buy. Now they even have a 100 day return if you are not satisfied with the set you choose. Damn what more can you ask for?
The new 100 day return is HUGE, especially given it’s not specific to their website or a certain store 🤯 I honestly don’t know how they do what they do
@@qwazyd0gg if I were the other TV manufacturer's I'd take a page from Hisense play book. I personally think Hisense TVs are DAMN good regardless of them being a Chinese company. I'm not a person who judges like that. If the product is good then I'm going to buy it. I don't care what other people think or say.
Honestly man, I agree. Not to say big brands are bad, but I think people are noticing that paying extra for a “brand name” just isn’t a necessity anymore, nor is it the quality guarantee that it use to be. Hisense had done a great job disrupting the market while playing with a fraction of the advertising budgets you see with some of the competitors thanks to word of mouth and building a great fan base with their price to performance model.
@@qwazyd0gg hey man it's really good to see people think alike and no what's going on as far as these TV manufacturer's are concerned. I have no problem with giving the lesser known brands a chance to show their stuff.
How does everyone feel about the Sony X90J I got a refurbished/55inch for my mom which I haven't gotten yet. I bought it for 600 dollars. Which is similar to a Hisense U7G Do ya think we will be happy with it. Mom generally watches newer tv shows and some older TV shows all streaming. I figured I may be safer for long term since Sony should be reliable and Hisense is more of an unknown. I don't see mom getting a new tv anytime soon. Unless it fails.
Thants for the great content. I was playing around with my new Hisense Qled tv and your 4k content was one of my best for checking out settings. I am not a fan of soap opera effect but it is alot clearer when I use Ultra smooth motion. As I am using this tv as a pc monitor I think I will have to keep changing settings depending on what I am doing but its worth it.
As a monitor, Game or HDR Game would be the best setting to use for reduced input lag for a more responsive mouse curser. I use my older H9G this way as my PC monitor as well :)
Good video and cool to see you actually reading and responding to comments. I maybe missed it, but how do you feel about the H9G vs the U8G? I haven't seen a direct side-by-side comparison, but I've seen each separately and they both look great, I've just noticed a little choppy motion on my H9G and was curious if the U8G with the tcon update was on the same level or better than the H9G. Thanks again man.
I have both, and for the longest time I had them both in the same room. I never directly compared them since the H9G I have is a 55” and the U8G is a 65”. The H9G is still a rock solid panel, and honestly the chipset has aged very well and hasn’t suffered from any noticable slow down or degraded picture at all (I only bring that up as my previous H9 got VERY sluggish to the point that I couldn’t use the built in OS comfortably anymore). I think it’s only fair to compare the U8G in its current M series firmware release, which has improved the motion substantially (plus the manual TCON update found in the 65” only). Motion was still amazing on the H9G and the ETOF actually handled horizontal pans more efficiently compared to the U8G, which still suffers slightly in that regard. The U8G is A LOT brighter l, which helps retain more saturation at peak brightness, has more FALD zones, and of course offers true 120hz support thanks to hdmi 2.1. The H9G has a native 120hz panel but only supports a maximum rate of 60hz in 4K due to being only hdmi 2.0. You can push it to 120hz in 1080p or 1440p on supported devices if needed, but that’s the only exception. If you need a next gen TV for say gaming, then I wouldn’t hesitate to get the U8G for the above reasons. If it’s say a bedroom TV, or a panel just for film and TV watching, I honestly think the price savings for the H9G if it’s still available would still yield an amazing picture that is unrivalled at its price point. I hope that helps :) EDIT: I just reread your comment and just realized you already have the H9G. Honestly, if you don’t need the 120Hz hdmi 2.1, I don’t think you’ll see a massive visual return on investment upgrading to the U8G. The U8H is coming out this year, and although many brands haven’t implemented MiniLED well to date, I find Hisense stays late to the game for a reason to ensure they do it right. Aside from that, the LG C1 has some amazing sales right now that has floored their pricing to an all time low as they are phasing out remaining inventory in favor of the LG Evo lineup. If you’re not scared of burn in or a bump down in max brightness (I only recommend OLED for light controlled environments), and have money to invest in a panel that WILL return a better picture yield in accuracy and motion, I would probably do the C1 over the H9G.
@@qwazyd0gg actually i think that as well, so I just ordered, and remember here in Mexico we don't add the tax like you do, so 782 was the final price.
@@qwazyd0gg by the way great review dude, yours was the last one I saw before buying this one and make me confident about it, and I watch too many here on YT
Does this tv have eARC?? My Sony X900H has it. I'm sadly in the market for a new TV as my wife just tried to swat a fly with some shorts on the tv and busted the panel. The Sony X90J &95J are the upgrades to my Sony but this TV has had some really good reviews.
So, I’ve done some research 🧐 and apparently it’s a problem with the native apps. They don’t send Atmos to the TV speaker. Not sure if you can confirm this.
Personally I would like them to make non smart tvs with all the new gaming features. I have devices for the streaming. It does not need to connect to the internet
Vizio tried something sort of similar a couple years ago by excluding things like TV tuners and making them just a Cinema Display that you cast to using a Vizio tablet. It was too niche and honestly I think more consumers would be offput by no smart features vs those who would benefit from not having any as far as the mass market is concerned. For the last 3+ years I have used ZERO smart TV features and stream solely from external devices as well.
I wish I had the room! I was debating getting a short throw, but the wall my TV is currently on is the only wall big enough to mount a TV on, but there is a drop ceiling above it from ductwork that restricts how high I can go :(
Hey man appreciate the review! I purchased this unit and having a great time with it, EXCEPT audio... been browsing around and seems like people having trouble with getting multichannel PCM going via eARC. Do you know of anything coming down the wire!?
Can you disclose any compensation from Hisense? Not hating , but it's a fair question. Imo, any payment of any kind should be disclosed on product reviews. Do you agree ?
I sure can. There has never been a payment rendered by Hisense for coverage on this channel. Any brand or products that have given compensation have been disclosed as per Advertising Standards with either a written or verbal disclosure, as well as a disclosure by RUclips before the video. Hisense has provided various panels for unbiased opinion pieces; however, those opinion pieces are curated at my own discretion and on my own accord. The reason why they have been such a main focus television wise on the channel is as a father of 2, I am unable financially to purchase multiple TVs out of pocket for the purpose of review, and at this point I have more televisions than I need in my home. I hope that answers your question, and I know you’re not hating so no stress. It was a great questions tbh.
@@qwazyd0gg Compensating you with a free $1000 tv and then telling you to make an unbiased review in my opinion is pretty shady and unfortunately common. (Do they expect you to return it after the review) . I'm wondering if you'd get any more free TVs from Hisense if you gave them an unflattering review. Maybe you will get more ? Anyway, Good review! very Well spoken and smooth editing. Next product review buy the TV yourself and then take it back if it gets expensive buying so many panels. I know Costco has a generous return policy lol .
Honestly product for promotion is more or less the method of coverage in the modern day. I have an office FILLED with products I have never shot a video on because the product was not of good quality, didn’t do what it should have, or did not present tangible value. I’ll never go out of my way to make a content piece bashing a brand or their product because that’s not a piece of content I myself would watch, so it’s also not a piece of content I will take time to produce (with some small exceptions) My professional background currently is and previously has been high end retail sales, which is why I will never buy something for review and return it afterwards. I know the financing impact on the gross margin of the product, the man hours involved in stocking, presenting, selling, then returning, inspecting, and relisting the items or possibly even sending them back with no faults and the business taking the financial hit on their end. I try to hold myself to a high standard of honesty and integrity, even if it’s not in my favour. Years ago I was ranked in the top 5 Amazon reviewers for all of Canada. I had a brand pressuring me to provide their item a 5 star review when I had originally given it a 2. They were so persistent that I reported them to Amazon. In turn Amazon removed that brand from their marketplace, and also banned my ability to write platform reviews ever again due to a policy in place where a reviewer cannot communicate directly with a brand for the purpose of reviews. But I also get what you are saying 100%. I buy a ton of products such as my recent Denon S760H for the purpose of using the product and producing content as well; however, I think probably 25% of my items come directly from vendors for the purpose of potential coverage
Hey mates : I just bought this same model TV today & I noticed the remote is different? It’s the sleeker smaller metal cased designed one, any ideas why? I purchased the Hisense 55 inch G8U for $1299 AUD with 7 years warranty otherwise it would have costed me $1195 AUD So far it’s performing well
Depends on needs and budget honestly. The c1 and qn90a are certainly more money in most markets, and all the TVs perform in their own ways very well. The c1 has the best motion and motion clarity in 120hz, but risks burn in and is the dimmest of the bunch. The Hisense is super bright and Colorful, but can suffer depending on your software with 120hz 4K clarity and doesn’t have as good of motion. I’ve never used the Samsung, but I’ve heard it’s motion isn’t great, and it does not offer Dolby vision, which honestly I think is a must in 2022. If budget allows it, I don’t think anyone has been super unhappy with the c1. For me, you just can’t beat the price to performance of the Hisense though.
Honestly my calibration wasn’t far from the standard profiles it shipped with, and after multiple resets to install sideloaded firmware, I’ve just come to enjoy the out of box experiences.
So disappointed Hisense didn't put the same energy into the 55in. Some would assume i dont want to pay the $999 price tag. They would be correct. But more importantly, where I'm planning to place this TV can only fit 55in. 65 is pushing it.
@@qwazyd0gg I bought a 55 inch and now retuning it and getting a 65. Its out of my budget but the 55 is a total waste of money anyway! The motion interpolation is TERRIBLE. Its smooth for some time and suddenly there's this terrible lagging during movies!
@@mdnafeealislam6451 Glad you left that comment. I was still considering the 55 inch hoping that it wasn't bad or they'd fix. Saved me time and money. I'll either get an expensive OLED or nothing honestly. thx
When watching movies where there are black bars on the top and bottom how black are the bars? Noticeable? Hardly noticeable? Not noticeable? My Samsung from a few years back was a disappointment with the black levels. Do not want to make that mistake again.
I haven’t used a Sony TV for years as I found they were far too expensive for little to subtle returns for the investment. From what I’ve heard, the 900 series has been lacking key features like multiple HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, larger FALD numbers, and other penalties compared to something like the U8G.
Apparently there is an indefinite fix coming hopefully this month for the 55”. The update is in beta but is coming soon. I can’t remember which U8G video it was under; however, Hisense Canada was talking about it in the comments :)
I have a 65" u8g and the picture isn't as crisp as I was hoping for. It seems grainy and has banding in dark areas of movies. should I return or is there a setting or something i can try to fix the issue
U8G; however, I have not personally used the other two sets. Based on online comparisons with sharpness, contrast, and quality my heart stands with the value proposition that Hisense offers. My two recommendations are still C1 if you want to take a chance on burn in and the U8G.
@@qwazyd0gg Thanks for the response. So after major FOMO, I bit the bullet and got an A80J. Went with that over the C1 as I will not do any gaming on this set and feel for streaming and movies, Sony is the way to go. Every brand has bugs, but felt the major brands right now are the safer choice o er Hisense or TCL, for now...
I’ve never seen it personally. I would say if it shows up in all content types (SDR, hdr, DV) and on both an hdmi input and the smart tv, then it may be something wrong with the panel itself.
It’s about as good as you can expect from Android Tv. I’ve personally always favoured external sources over smart TV Os’s and exclusively run my media through an Apple TV 4K.
Cool review bro. I have the u7g but when u do your picture settings video im gonna compare with my u7g pic settings video just to so some research about what the upgrade has to offer.. Its been one of my better vids so I know a settings video will kill it for u!!
I’m going to go watch yours now. Honestly I’ve left mine pretty out of box vanilla in Theatre Night and Dolby Custom other than my standard def profile with 25 sharpness on Standard profile.
@@qwazyd0gg yeah I keep hearing that out if the box settings on the U8Gs is already pretty good on calibration but the U7Gs not so much lol. Now with the right tweaks is pretty freak in sweet like this one but it is DEFINITELY gonna require some calibration.
Trying to choose between this TV and the Sony X90J. The Hisense seems like the better bang for your buck. I just feel like im cheating on Sony since I have a PS5 and the HT-A7000 soundbar haha
I have both. The Sony i have in 75 and the U8G in 65. The Sony makes movies look amazing and i can see the amazing motion on screen . The U8G looks amazing but what put it over the top is the (Dolby vision /Vvr/HDR/gaming features) if the U8G had a 75’ I wouldn’t have bought the Sony. The price difference is major too . U8G for the win
Hello thank you for your video. I can not decide whether Nano, ULed Hisense or still save money and buy Oled.... Many think that the colors and picture quality of Oled is much better than the Hisense Uled/Nano-Cell/Q-Led TCL.... Can you help me with this? maybe have some advice. I use the TV mainly for Netflix/Amazon Prime/Desiny +. Thanks :)
The Hisense is amazing for content viewing, with it’s only fault right now being 4K/120hz utilization. The nano cell TVs suffer from motion issues and blooming, so if you were going LG then save for the OLED.
I don’t have the TCL to compare the two, but there are reviews comparing the two already and it looks like based on color accuracy and vibrancy the Hisense edges ahead of the TCL being a little punchier in the contrast whilst sacrificing with some color blowout
Could be the feed from the store. If it’s anything like when I worked retail they’re all fed through a splitter which downgraded the feed. For me I find it very clear and punchy
I have both. Blooming control is way better on the U88G, as is contrast thanks to a higher volume of FALD zones. Brighter too. U88G also takes advantage of native 120hz where as the 120hz panel in the H9G is left mostly unutilized due to hdmi 2.0.
I got it mixed up with the U9DG spec list for panel type. Disclaimer is in the description. VRR works great but does disable local dimming which results in a minor hit to brightness and saturation
Great videos big help when it comes to purchasing a new tv my current tv has broken and iv can have the Samsung Q80 or the Hisense U8G oled which is better as iv never owned a oled tv
I believe just 60 and 120. I’m sure you could use Nvidia control panel to force a resolution; however, I’m not sure if it will work or just display black
The 65 inch U8G is arguably as good if not a bit better then the xbr95j which is sonys top qled tv the only qled that is noticeably better is the Samsung q90a and not by much and both those tvs are several hundred dollars more
Hello sir just wanna ask, while doing this test on the u8g did you have to calibrate you're t.v first ? Or is this all out of the box test ? Thank you and more power to your show. I'm thinking buying this t.v but worried if I can get the same picture quality that you're getting. Unless I need to calibrate it extra dollar to pay
I always test in stock settings and believe I mentioned that in the video, but I could be mistaken. Footage is all from theatre night preset with no modifications. I also have two additional videos showcasing the Series X and PS5 in Game Mode
Hey great review I just wanted to ask you I didn't see this covered how does it do with upscaling low deit's been low deaf for older content like Sony and my Samsung and the others do
I haven’t watched anything lower than 1080p, but I’ve been streaming American Horror Story for 9 seasons and the 1080P stream feed looks way better upscaled on this panel than my daughters 1080P TV. I find using the Standard profile with a little extra contrast really helps it pop too for nonHDR stuff
Honestly amazing. Much better than the other TVs in my house in 4K. It’s soft as to be expected on SDR; however, bumping sharpness to 25 in addition to the TV upscaling works well.
Correct. I had a spec list for the U9DG beside the spec list for this panel and mentioned the wrong display technology. Correction has been in the description since it has been uploaded; however, I only caught the error once it went live. Sorry for the confusion.
I used to use a Firestick to stream from side apps. I've directly loaded side app to the TV and the streaming has much less buffering. I am guessing the processing power is greater with the TV than the Firestick. Would I get the same processing speed with lower models of the Hisense?
It would depend on the model. I know the TV one down from this one (u7) has the same processor with a lower amount of FALD zones, but I’m unsure of the rest.
Hey whats up man I just bought this TV and hooked up my series X too it bit it's telling me it's not compatible to run @120hz. Have you encountered this before?? Thanks
@@qwazyd0gg yea I do but it says not compatible with this TV. All the checkmark are checked off except the 120hz was seeing if the TV does in fact run @120hz.
It’s certainly 120hz compatible as long as it’s a North American model. Some models in Germany, UK, or Australia are only 120hz for internal applications. Other than that HDMI enhanced in the TV settings not console settings is the biggest key, and a hdmi cable being a valid 2.1 cable
I can guarantee you the North American U8G/U88G is native 4K 2.1. Try reversing the cable or a different cable, and again ensure your on the correct input, then go into settings and scroll down to the HDMI setting and change it to Enhanced Format to unlock higher end chroma sub sampling and 120hz support. This is the most commonly missed step within the TV itself.
Great content! I just subscribed to your channel. I have the LG c1 for my bedroom and the tcl r635 for guest bedroom both 55 inches. I am looking for a 65inch and up for living room tv. I am looking at this tv do you think this is the best option for 1500 and under? And if I choose a 75 inch and up any recommendations?
Honestly and unbiasedly, yes. For the money nothing on the market touches this for the price. For the 75”, the 75U7G has the same panel and processor, but fewer FALD zones for slightly reduced brightness and contrast, but still offers all the next gen features you’d want. I just ordered the Denon 760H receiver to pair with my U8G to add more hdmi 2.1 ports for my gaming consoles, which both together still come under the cost of a OLED with similar performance in key categories
@@qwazyd0gg yeah I was thinking the same thing with u8g I’m leaning towards that tv for 65 inches. I wanted a Samsung but they are overprice for what they can do. Thank you and keep up the good content.
For the price it’s hard to match the quality of the Hisense and the features. I’ll be ream Hisense until someone else can present a better value proposition.
Make sure you have the HDMI set to enhanced. The only other thing I can think of it the fire stick may not be sending the signal to the TV to set the panel Hz to 24Hz. So if you’re playing 24Hz movies, it may be adding extra frames to bump it to 60Hz causing motion concerns. Try the same content from within the smart tv OS and see if it is still an issue. My Apple TV matches the frame rate of the content and sends it to the TV as 24Hz and everything works super smooth as intended.
@@qwazyd0gg Thank you. The problem doesn't seem as bad with the TV apps. Maybe it is just a communication issue. I was trying to figure out how the TV got such good reviews with such a choppy motion rate.
If it’s a 65” try updating your TCON too. Go into software update but don’t check for an update. Press up on the dpad 4 times fast and run the update that pops up. It will greatly improve the response time by updating the internal timing controller.
As per RTings “Update 09/08/2021: We retested the audio passthrough and found that this TV does support DTS:X via DTS-HD MA via eARC. The setting Digital Audio Out has to be set to 'Pass Through' for it to work.”
C1 has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and great quality. I know in Canada the C1 is a good chunk more than the U88G, which is why ultimately I chose it for its price to performance. If price isn’t an issue then maybe C1 if you don’t mind a dim panel. If you want the best budget option, the U88G is stunning and leaves money in your pocket.
Not terrible TBH, but comparatively the U8G 65” is $1100usd with a 100 day satisfaction guarantee and similar to better specs compared to the C1 for almost 50% of the cost
Can you do a recent video of game settings for the series x with the u8g I just bought one kinda confused on stuff when I put my Xbox in 120hz it seems blurry
So it depends on the software on the TV more than anything. Initially 120hz was blurry regardless; however, with the changes made with M0422, it’s a lot less blurry, or you can use the “text clarity” preset for true 120hz 4K chroma 4:4:4; however, the sacrifice is slightly degraded hdr (can compensate with on device calibration on the Xbox itself). Nothing needs to be changed on the console itself
@@qwazyd0gg yeah I haven't gotten the update yet and I talked to hinsense and they sent me the file for the new update but I don't trust myself to do it I watched your video on how to use the USB thing but I just got the tv and I don't wanna take any chances of bricking it
@@qwazyd0gg also I cat even find out or find what version of software I'm using currently I know there isn't a preset or anything for the text clarity I know I saw the recent video about it but my tv hasn't updated to M0422 yet
Do you think the Sony A80j is worth the bit more money over this? I'm also waiting to see the U8H once it's released since it has the mini LEDs. And is having just dolby vision enough, or do you recommend hdr10+ as well, since it otherwise goes down to standard hdr10.
I’ll have to reserve judgement on the H series until I can see them as I find MiniLED has been so hit and Miss in other brands lately. The Sony is an amazing TV and may be worth the extra to some; however, for me I would be worried about both its brightness and OLED. It’s hard to get away from the value factor of this panel, even with its shortcomings.
@@qwazyd0gg Thanks man. Yeah definitely seems great for the price. Many upsides that compete with more expensive tvs. I do have one last question though. Another review said this tv had problems with the color cyan, and wasn't realistic looking (I guess sharpness). Have you noticed that?
I haven’t. I’ve actually seen some people say it was heavily leaning more green at times, but never cyan. I’m theatre settings for hdr and SDR, I find it pretty accurate, or at least very appealing. Even my U7G as my computer monitor is fairly accurate for color grading when using vector scopes as reference with minimal tweaking based of eye and then scopes.
Lol 😂 he got the U8G without watching the reviews , cuz I have been raving about it for like 6 months . Lol I am the TV person . I used to have the Sharp Quatrum made in Japan , Aquos Quatrum (4 color TV vs Common 3 color TV) . Everyone buys Sony Bravia n Samsung . They look 👀 BAD ! I think 🤔 eyes can get used to things , suddenly things look less vibrant , fuzzy … eyes 👀 can pick up . Sharp got bought out by Hisense a few yr ago , they stopped selling their Premium TV 📺here, only have genetic Low/mid rage Sharp here now . The Hisense is huge in Asia n some parts of Europe , it’s surpassed Samsung long ago . They just didn’t bother come here . The U8G , Chinese model equivalent is $2400 (on sale ) Canadian dollars right now . Ppl have NO idea this type of cheap price will only last 2-3 yrs . For Marketing class , the cheap price will Cheapen the Brand !!! They r going to get close to Sony n Samsung price year by year ! The 75” back home is $3000 CDN right now . I am happy with the 65” price here lol 😂
Hello fellow Canuck! lol Visions is such a great source for AV stuff in Canada. Sucks for me on the East Coast because they don't ship big all the way down here, so I'm usually stuck with the Best Buy or Amazon selections. I have the Q9G as well, which I use as a computer monitor and the Q8G in my bedroom. Use to have the original Q9 as well but I handed it down to a friend at the beginning of the year. Let me know how you like it when you get yours if you have any questions, although it sounds like hubby has his tech game on lock! lol
Note I was going 2 wait 4 black Friday this U8G is not a sleeper 😒 anymore im ni ny it sold out in a a lot of places I got the last 1 at PC Richard's plus the chip shortage idk I didn't want 2 take the chance
That’s smart though pro. With both chip and panel shortages it’s risky to gamble over a couple bucks. Plus with the 100 day guarantee you could return it if an insane sale came around
can i plug my soundbar to the 2.1 for atmos and use my 2 hdmi ports on the back of my soundbar to get the 120hz for gaming or do i actually have to use the ports in the back of the tv
As long as the sound bar has hdmi 2.1 then you will be fine. By plugging into the sound bar you will be capturing audio direct to the speakers with the need of ARC and sending the feed from the hdmi 2.1 ports on the sound bar to the hdmi 2.1 port on the TVs. If your sound bar is not hdmi 2.1 (which i suspect unfortunately), then you would be reducing the signal before it reaches the TV causing issues in the video while only playing the audio to the speakers.
A disclaimer was added on publishing in the description. This is a VA Quantum Dot panel. IPS was on my mind due to thinking about the Dual Cell coming in Q4. Sorry for the confusion :(
I would still say U8G for the extra contrast in general entertainment media like TVs and movies. The 360 FALD zones mixed with the VA panel really lend towards inky blacks and eliminate blooming seen on older models with a lower FALD count. The U6G is still a great cost savings option though for sure
@@qwazyd0gg It's for my parents who currently have a 2019 LG 70" UN6900 series. I had the UG6 75" on loaner while their LG was being repaired and was really impressed and I've got the LG CX. My dad really liked it and the size was great. But seeing the U8G only comes in a 65" and they're sitting 12' away will they still notice the difference. The other concern was the upscaling with lower resolution sources as they love watching old westerns most are 480p. Thanks for replying.
@@qwazyd0gg well that's debatable. Dad loves the larger size, mom not so much lol But now they're only $100 dollars apart so would you do size of the 75" U6G or the better quality of the U8G 65".
Canada is VA as well. I was scripting a video for the U9DG at the same time and got the specs mixed up. I placed a disclaimer within the description upon upload noting the mistake.
Just got this TV the other day at Costco in Canada and so far it's great.
Glad we could all help Chazz! Ghosting has been corrected with Julys update and TCON update. Concerns were mostly early reports
Hi is this tv better then the sony x90j? Can someone tell me why or why not? thank you
The different tweaks he's referring to for different content are a little concerning.
How are you liking the tv so far?
Personally I’m still loving the TV. Hands down the best overall value for movies and gaming in 2021.
Just bought this TV on Prime Day for $800. This is the video I was looking for. This will be a huge upgrade over my 6 year old Samsung.
Amazing upgrade indeed!
I wish there was a 75" version of this TV, I would've bought it. Hisense needs to make a 75" version ASAP.
They’ll probably skip 75” this year as the dual cell U9DG is planned for the end of Q4 in the 75” category.
thanks for the feedback, keep up the great work and reviews
Thanks Rick 🙏
Hisense and TCL have been upping their game lately.
In a major way! Premium features for a nudge price should start to disrupt the market in a positive way for consumers to start getting more for their money 👊
That R646 is the real deal
even before watching this, it sounds like the perfect review for what Im looking for with the ps5 and apple tv tests
I’ve got videos on both consoles so far with Apple TV coming soon. Also covering an hdmi 2.1 120hz switch this week to connect multiple items to the one free hdmi 2.1 port (1 lost with earc avr).
Iv got a U7H 120hz ULed. And I'm really happy for £550 it's on par with a LG or Samsund TV £1200...
I haven’t had a chance to see the Mini-LED lineup in person yet, but I bet it’s amazing
3rd TV seller is North America now. They’re moving up!
$$$ tho
Can’t wait for mine to be delivered Friday. Upgrading from a KS8000
Let me know what you think when you get it!

I purchased a four port HDMI splitter now I have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports
What’s the brand? The ones I’ve seen typically lack features like VRR, but I’d love to look into the one you purchased.
I have the 55 inch U8G I'm loveing it
I would love to have the 55” U88G to replace my 55” Q9G for my PC monitor for a better response time and 4K/120hz in the future
@@qwazyd0gg, should I set local dimming to max, 100 I think? What about backlight level?
Thank you for your help.
Great Detail in this Review and in the Comments. Incredible Specs. Went in person to View: SOLD

Thanks for watching 👊
I was convinced to buy this telly (even more after watching this vid) but looks like on UK market its a bit different - as of Jul 22: the avg price is around £750 which is around 900$ (apart from couple dodgy shops selling it for around £600)
For £800 we can get here samsung QN90A - which is a better telly overall and with less issues reported or sony x90j which is actually cheaper (seen live and its great telly too).
The new 100 day return is HUGE, especially given it’s not specific to their website or a certain store 🤯
I honestly don’t know how they do what they do
@@qwazyd0gg if I were the other TV manufacturer's I'd take a page from Hisense play book.
She doesn’t sound super picky, so I think size and budget fit the bill with the Sony :)
I am going to watch this video like it’s a manual. Thank you and you are welcome.
Glad I could be of help!
@@qwazyd0gg Ok I will do that. Thanks for the reply.
I hope that helps :)
EDIT: I just reread your comment and just realized you already have the H9G.
This is on my radar for sure if I can find one in my area. I have a LG C9 in the bedroom but if I can find a 65 U8G for the living room.
Links are in the description for Amazon if you can’t find stock local. They also now have their 100 day guarantee!

Great review! I am waiting my 65U88g, Is it better to stream Movies and TV Show with an apple TV 4K or the built in app will do the same thing?
I personally enjoy external streaming over internal. Smart TVs are good, but age out a lot quicker than dedicated players.
Does this tv have eARC?? My Sony X900H has it. I'm sadly in the market for a new TV as my wife just tried to swat a fly with some shorts on the tv and busted the panel. The Sony X90J &95J are the upgrades to my Sony but this TV has had some really good reviews.
It certainly does have eARC yes
I want to buy the LG C1, but this bad boy is pretty good for the price
In Canada there is almost a $1000 price premium on a C1 and I have a hard time seeing that as a viable return with just how good the U88G is.
Does the “Dolby Atmos” badge at the upper right corner only appears when a DA soundbar or home theater is connected?
It just means that Atmos is active and in use within that video production
@@qwazyd0gg It’s strange. I’ve played several titles from Netflix, Apple TV and Disney+ with both Dolby Vision and Atmos, and only Vision appears.
You may have to enable Atmos within your AV equipment.
So, I’ve done some research 🧐 and apparently it’s a problem with the native apps. They don’t send Atmos to the TV speaker. Not sure if you can confirm this.
I run into an AVR directly myself
Personally I would like them to make non smart tvs with all the new gaming features. I have devices for the streaming. It does not need to connect to the internet
Vizio tried something sort of similar a couple years ago by excluding things like TV tuners and making them just a Cinema Display that you cast to using a Vizio tablet. It was too niche and honestly I think more consumers would be offput by no smart features vs those who would benefit from not having any as far as the mass market is concerned. For the last 3+ years I have used ZERO smart TV features and stream solely from external devices as well.
Once u Go Smart , u can’t go back 😮 😅😅😅😅

I wish I had the room! I was debating getting a short throw, but the wall my TV is currently on is the only wall big enough to mount a TV on, but there is a drop ceiling above it from ductwork that restricts how high I can go :(
Hey man appreciate the review! I purchased this unit and having a great time with it, EXCEPT audio... been browsing around and seems like people having trouble with getting multichannel PCM going via eARC. Do you know of anything coming down the wire!?
Honestly I don’t often recommend pcm anyway. Try with Dolby codec as it will pass Atmos sound as well
Can you disclose any compensation from Hisense?
I’ll never go out of my way to make a content piece bashing a brand or their product because that’s not a piece of content I myself would watch, so it’s also not a piece of content I will take time to produce (with some small exceptions)
My professional background currently is and previously has been high end retail sales, which is why I will never buy something for review and return it afterwards.
How are the details in dark scenes? Is it all just a dark blob or can you actually see obvious details?
You can see detail. The huge amount of FALD zones really does wonders with contrast control!
Hey mates :
I just bought this same model TV today & I noticed the remote is different? It’s the sleeker smaller metal cased designed one, any ideas why? I purchased the Hisense 55 inch G8U for $1299 AUD with 7 years warranty otherwise it would have costed me $1195 AUD
So far it’s performing well
International models can have different remotes
Hi boss. After 1 year. What u advice to buy. I’m between lg c1, Samsung Qn90a, hisense u8g.
For me, you just can’t beat the price to performance of the Hisense though.
it would be nice to make a video of your calibration for gaming and movies and maybe campare at tcl series 6 R646

I can’t disagree tbh man :(

Beta update push is said to come out this month at some point based on a comment left by Hisense in the comments section.
When watching movies where there are black bars on the top and bottom how black are the bars? Noticeable? Hardly noticeable? Not noticeable? My Samsung from a few years back was a disappointment with the black levels. Do not want to make that mistake again.

Should I trade my Sony 950G for a Hisense U8G? What’s your opinion
I think the update you did is for fixing the ghosting issue.
I did indeed. The TCON or timing update specifically on the 65” model fixes the ghosting for sure :)
The 55 inch looks very different, the Tcon update is not supported.. Got any suggestions to fix image quality?
There is an update apparently scheduled for this month based on comments left on these videos from Hisense.
Just ordered the 55U88G. I'd love the 65, but 25% higher cost was a no go with the wife.
Hahaha, I know all about picking battles my friend :) you still made a great choice
Hi I heard there was still ghosting issues on the 55 inch model. have you notice any?
Apparently there is an indefinite fix coming hopefully this month for the 55”. The update is in beta but is coming soon. I can’t remember which U8G video it was under; however, Hisense Canada was talking about it in the comments :)
I have a 65" u8g and the picture isn't as crisp as I was hoping for. It seems grainy and has banding in dark areas of movies. should I return or is there a setting or something i can try to fix the issue
Try a TCON update.
U8G or R646 or X90J?
Hey man, think you got an amazing tv! And trust me, I know all about FOMO, lol. In the process of a PC rebuild and overshot costs by over $1000 lol
I've noticed a yellow/green tinge around the border on my U8G, is this normal for this model or is it a fault.
I’ve never seen it personally. I would say if it shows up in all content types (SDR, hdr, DV) and on both an hdmi input and the smart tv, then it may be something wrong with the panel itself.
My tv keeps cutting back to the home screen. Anybody else having that problem? What did you do to fix it?
The Home Screen of the console or the TV itself?
Sorry maybe i missed it. What’s the benefit to buying the 65’ over the 55’ ? I was planning on buying the 55 inch version.
Originally it was the TCON update for better motion but there is an update this month at some point to improve the 55”
@@qwazyd0gg this is super helpful! How will I know when that 55” update is pushed to the tv??
It will prompt you when it’s downloaded and ask if you want to install it on next boot up. I don’t know if an ETA but I heard this month sometime :)
@@qwazyd0gg any news on the 55" update? thanks man!
Nothing as of yet; however, I will have an update video out soon about the chroma 444 quality in 4K 120Hz
How is this TV behaving with Netyflix or RUclips ? Had an A80J from Sony and was not great for Netflix.

You’re PS5 will be fine with an open relationship 😉
@@qwazyd0gg lmao!
Hey bro, what did u end up getting? Im looking at this and the X85J. So far the u8g is winning for me..
Thanks for sharing! Always great to see feedback from individuals who have first hand experience with both panels :)
Which one do you prefer. Hisense U8G or the TCL MINI LED GOOGLE TV
I don’t have the TCL to compare the two, but there are reviews comparing the two already and it looks like based on color accuracy and vibrancy the Hisense edges ahead of the TCL being a little punchier in the contrast whilst sacrificing with some color blowout
is there a 3.5 mm jack for audio system input? Or is this Bluetooth only
AUX, Bluetooth, Legacy inputs, optical, and HDMI on the Hisense TV
Since the new update does it run much better and does it fix a lot of things like people saying
Sure does!
@@qwazyd0gg Can we get a updated review since the updates on the picture and gaming and motion
Did the 55 inch ever get the update or should I just get the 65 inch
TCON was just the 65. M0414 was both
Thanks. Right now the 55inch is $697 so that's why I wanted to make sure before I bought it for my PS5. Appreciate the fast response
I currently use tcl 55s405 55inch but the colors don't really pop, not really any motion blurs so this tv should be a huge upgrade
Anytime :)
Colors will be much more impressive!
Now that you had it for some time, you still recommend over cx1?
Absolutely
I checked em both in store ! My husband thought lg x1 was. $600 cuz just such lame item side by side
How is it with watching sports?? Cause I game but I want watch tv mostly for sports like soccer and football how is it?
I enjoy the motion that comes from the TV; however, I watch ZERO sports to know how good it is for that specific genre of viewing. Sorry man :(
I can see what sort of feeds I can find in the future for sports.
I have this tv and noticed so trailing n ghosting with a green tint playing Xbox series x call of duty and 2k22
Are you on hdmi enhanced with the latest firmware and TCON updates?
The TV has light bleed on the wall though?
That’s an led backlighting strip
How do you find the clarity vs the other brands? When I saw it in store it seemed a bit more hazy or less detailed than the big brand names beside it.
Could be the feed from the store. If it’s anything like when I worked retail they’re all fed through a splitter which downgraded the feed. For me I find it very clear and punchy
The store more than likely did that on purpose because they make more off the Sony, LG, and Samsungs.
Back in the day that was actually a tangible thing when I did high end retail.
I have both. Blooming control is way better on the U88G, as is contrast thanks to a higher volume of FALD zones. Brighter too. U88G also takes advantage of native 120hz where as the 120hz panel in the H9G is left mostly unutilized due to hdmi 2.0.
After watching your video so tempted to buy one😁
Glad I could help :)
8:30 IPS display? I thought it was a VA-type panel?
It is. I had the specs from the U9DG in my mind. I appended it in the description directly after posting. Sorry for the confusion.
Ips i thought it was va pannel.. also how is the vrr on the series x does it affect the picture quality
I got it mixed up with the U9DG spec list for panel type. Disclaimer is in the description. VRR works great but does disable local dimming which results in a minor hit to brightness and saturation
@@qwazyd0gg i have a 55inch cx the screen reflections are rough for my living room also looking to get a 65inch all these tvs are driving me nuts lol
Reflections are actually pretty manageable on this one thanks to the VA panels coating and the sheer brightness of the panel
Looks nice dude, great feedback...! :)
Thanks Jay!
Great videos big help when it comes to purchasing a new tv my current tv has broken and iv can have the Samsung Q80 or the Hisense U8G oled which is better as iv never owned a oled tv
The Hisense is a backlit ULED, not an OLED.
Why is it advertised as OLED that’s naughty
Who’s marketing it as an OLED? Is it a local store? All Hisense listings show ULED, and the Samsung is a QLED.
If you connect a PC does it just allow only 60/120Hz or can you set a custom like 85Hz?
I believe just 60 and 120. I’m sure you could use Nvidia control panel to force a resolution; however, I’m not sure if it will work or just display black
one quick question, hisense U8G vs Sony X90J, which is better?
U8G all day. I’ve also heard the X91J seems to just be a reboxed X90J when consumers were hopeful for a needed refresh :(
The 65 inch U8G is arguably as good if not a bit better then the xbr95j which is sonys top qled tv the only qled that is noticeably better is the Samsung q90a and not by much and both those tvs are several hundred dollars more
Hello sir just wanna ask, while doing this test on the u8g did you have to calibrate you're t.v first ? Or is this all out of the box test ? Thank you and more power to your show. I'm thinking buying this t.v but worried if I can get the same picture quality that you're getting. Unless I need to calibrate it extra dollar to pay
I always test in stock settings and believe I mentioned that in the video, but I could be mistaken. Footage is all from theatre night preset with no modifications. I also have two additional videos showcasing the Series X and PS5 in Game Mode
@@qwazyd0gg thanks for the info
Hey great review I just wanted to ask you I didn't see this covered how does it do with upscaling low deit's been low deaf for older content like Sony and my Samsung and the others do
Upscaling is automatic :)
How is the quality of upscaled 480,720 and 1080p video?
I haven’t watched anything lower than 1080p, but I’ve been streaming American Horror Story for 9 seasons and the 1080P stream feed looks way better upscaled on this panel than my daughters 1080P TV. I find using the Standard profile with a little extra contrast really helps it pop too for nonHDR stuff
@@qwazyd0gg Thanks for the feedback.
How is the clarity on this tv?
Honestly amazing. Much better than the other TVs in my house in 4K. It’s soft as to be expected on SDR; however, bumping sharpness to 25 in addition to the TV upscaling works well.
ISP panel? is this country specific? All the reviews I have seen for the US say VA panel.
OOPS...guess I should have read the notes first.
Correct. I had a spec list for the U9DG beside the spec list for this panel and mentioned the wrong display technology. Correction has been in the description since it has been uploaded; however, I only caught the error once it went live. Sorry for the confusion.
@@qwazyd0gg No sweat. I jumped in before I looked close. thanks for the review, and the response.
Anytime man and thanks for the chat :)
Hi is this better then the sony x90j? Someone explain why or why not ? Thank you
I used to use a Firestick to stream from side apps.
@@qwazyd0gg Thank you.
What tv did you go with
I’m curious too :)
Why is this completely deferent tv in europe??
I have no idea :(
I’ve been hearing that the ones in the UK and some other areas globally are a different OS compared to the North American models.
Hey whats up man I just bought this TV and hooked up my series X too it bit it's telling me it's not compatible to run @120hz. Have you encountered this before?? Thanks
Make sure you’re using HDMI 3 or 4 and that you have it set to HDMI Enhanced in the TV input settings.
@@qwazyd0gg yea im from the USA 🇺🇸 and as far as I know the xbox series x cable is hdmi2.1 right? I tried the cable on all hdmi and same response.
Thanks a ton! Your comments mean a lot :)
Keep me in the loop on what you decide on
Costco has a 77 inch LG OLED for under 2000.
That’s an insane value!
Can u get Apple TV on this tv
Yes, Apple TV is now on Android TV in select regions; however, Airplay is not supported.
@@qwazyd0gg quick question this is or will be my first ever oled tv is this better then the Samsung Q80 which is the option I was looking at buying
For the price it’s hard to match the quality of the Hisense and the features. I’ll be ream Hisense until someone else can present a better value proposition.
What mount did you use for this?
My wall mount is just a cheap PrimeCables articulating mount from a local Canadian company.
Streaming from a fire stick, I get a really bad stuttering issue with motion. Any suggestions? Think it may be fixable with an update?
Yeah, I’d say it’s a transmission issue. Is it a 65” or 55”?
@@qwazyd0gg It's a 65"
If it’s a 65” try updating your TCON too. Go into software update but don’t check for an update. Press up on the dpad 4 times fast and run the update that pops up. It will greatly improve the response time by updating the internal timing controller.
Have they yet or do they plan to enable dts x
As per RTings
“Update 09/08/2021: We retested the audio passthrough and found that this TV does support DTS:X via DTS-HD MA via eARC. The setting Digital Audio Out has to be set to 'Pass Through' for it to work.”
This, or the C1?
C1 has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and great quality. I know in Canada the C1 is a good chunk more than the U88G, which is why ultimately I chose it for its price to performance. If price isn’t an issue then maybe C1 if you don’t mind a dim panel. If you want the best budget option, the U88G is stunning and leaves money in your pocket.
@@qwazyd0gg the 55 inch c1 right now is 1300 usd..65 is 1700..all on sale
Honestly if you’re not confident then it’s best to wait for the OTA update.
That feature is brand new on 0422, so you wouldn’t have it on a previous release

Hello fellow Canuck! lol
Visions is such a great source for AV stuff in Canada.

That’s smart though pro. With both chip and panel shortages it’s risky to gamble over a couple bucks. Plus with the 100 day guarantee you could return it if an insane sale came around
Does this run like an OLED?
With 360 backlight zones it’s arguably as close to OLED as you can get while being a FALD backlit TV.

can i plug my soundbar to the 2.1 for atmos and use my 2 hdmi ports on the back of my soundbar to get the 120hz for gaming or do i actually have to use the ports in the back of the tv

It does not :( The Hisense Roku TVs do, but the Android TVs do not.

Ips display?
A disclaimer was added on publishing in the description. This is a VA Quantum Dot panel. IPS was on my mind due to thinking about the Dual Cell coming in Q4. Sorry for the confusion :(
For non gaming U6G vs U8G?
I would still say U8G for the extra contrast in general entertainment media like TVs and movies. The 360 FALD zones mixed with the VA panel really lend towards inky blacks and eliminate blooming seen on older models with a lower FALD count. The U6G is still a great cost savings option though for sure
@@qwazyd0gg It's for my parents who currently have a 2019 LG 70" UN6900 series. I had the UG6 75" on loaner while their LG was being repaired and was really impressed and I've got the LG CX.
