We, at times, do like to hang out in the comments section! Thanks for the great video. Hopefully, folks who have purchased the TV can use your tips to get the most out of gaming on their Hisense QLED TV and the next-gen consoles.
I'm REALLY digging your coverage of this TV. Due to buying a new TV end of this month and I'm torn between the U8G (UK) and the LG C1. Which would you suggest for quality and longevity based on your test?
Thank you! Longevity scares me personally with an OLED and I don’t think they’re there yet as far as burn in resistance for those using the panel for long term viewing with static imagery (sports tickers, gaming, other items on screen that don’t move). I went with the Hisense due to the bright Quantum Dot display with 99% of the features as OLED has (Near OLED blacks, no burn in, dual HDMI 2.1 vs Quad HDMI 2.1; however, the Hisense is missing gaming in 120hz with Dolby Vision which the C1 just added). I’ve had great luck with the Hisense models thus far and with the cost savings comparatively you can buy a newer AVR, gaming console, surround sound package, or something else high ticket and still be within the same end investment as a C1. Much better bang for your buck to fill out your overall experience.

Either Amazon did me dirt or Hisense selling old products masked as new ones

I am hesitating between x90j 55 and the Hisense U8G, both are currently at 1200$ CAD. I think you're in Canada too, do you think Hisense is reliable as Sony in long term (5-7years) considering that Hisense is located in the US? Any update on the 120hz on 55 inch model? I play on PS5
The update has been rolling out for the 55” as well. The longest I’ve had a Hisense TV so far is 3 years and it’s still going strong. I am undergoing warranty work on my Q8G from last year and their Canadian warranty is in house repair/replacement, which has been a solid experience so far.

I take it you’re looking outside of the North American market. If so, the panel itself is 120hz; however, no external sources can access the 120hz in 4K due to the limitations of hdmi 2.0. Only the North American models offer dual hdmi 2.1 due to licensing issues. You can atill achieve 1440p at 120hz via hdmi 2.0 though :)

I haven’t personally had any experience with the 55”. I know it has received software updates; however, I don’t believe there has been a TCON update. I would check recent Reddit posts for user feedback :)
Try Rocket League as it is a free game. You need to enable 120Hz within the game itself. Also, make sure you are using input 3 or 4 on the TV with HDMI Enhanced enabled while using an HDMI 2.1 compliant cable.
Thanks! Just got my U8G for gaming on the PS5. Good info and featurette! I’m wondering if you or anyone else is having the same experience with the Google smart tv features of the tv? The built in Chromecast and Google assistant that are built into the unit do not function the way they should when compared to my Chromecast Ultra with Google home speaker combo. I’m honestly just thinking to go with that setup because the built in Chromecast/Google assistant is garbage.
@@qwazyd0gg Thanks, I appreciate that! Very simple things I used to be able to do before I cannot do with this tv alone. Things such as turning the tv on/off, controlling RUclips or other streaming apps playback. These are all things I could easily do before via voice command to my Google home speaker and chromecast unit connected to my old tv so it’s hard to believe none of these functions work with the tv’s built in Google Assistant/Chromecast. Even more annoying is the fact that I can connect to RUclips and control the playback through my phone but when I do the TV remote no longer functions to control playback. Also the tv does recognize my voice command to turn tv on/off and responds as if it will turn the unit on/off yet nothing happens. All these errors combined lead me to the realization that I cannot use the built in features at all in the way I’d planned to which is very disappointing.
I remember having similar casting issues by voice with mine too. I am able to play shows with the built in apps via a standalone Google Nest Hub in my office, but directly thru the TV it didn’t work.
@@qwazyd0gg It’s unfortunate, I hope Hisense will be able to fix the issues in the future. Otherwise, I’m really enjoying the quality of the display. After applying a few updates the picture quality looks excellent!

Change your video output from automatic to 4K to force the resolution. If you get a black screen then make sure you’re using the HDMI 2.1 port and an HDMI 2.1 cable.
I just got this TV yesterday and signed up to learn more about how to configure it. I know many PS5 games do not support 120 fps but there is one I do want to play named Knockout City that supposedly runs at 120. I enabled Enhanced HDMI, the TV automatically chooses 'hdr game' and I manually set the PS5 game presets to Performance Mode. Knockout City only continues to run at 60 fps. When I navigate to the Video Output section in the PS5 it says it supports 120hz at HDR and non-hdr content. What am I missing here to get the game to run at 120 fps for the PS5? I'll try to reinstall the game today but am out of ideas.
Based on what I can find online, the 120hz update was recently released. You may have to remove the game and make sure you are downloading the PS5 version of the game as most games have two versions (PS4/ps5) and you may have the wrong version installed. As long as your settings say automatic under 120hz, then your TV and PlayStation knows it’s able to run at that frame rate. Let me know how you make out.
@@qwazyd0gg uninstalled and reinstalled the game with the PS5 version. I had the PS4 version because I played on PS4 before performing a transfer for my PS5. Once I had that version I went into the game settings and saw an option for performance that wasn't there before. That did the trick, thanks!
I got the 55” U8g and so far I’m not too impressed I still watch most things in 1080p and upscaling isn’t that good. Also notice ghosting on the hdmi 2.1 ports. I’m going to mess with it a little and try it for a few weeks but day 1 has me feeling like I should’ve got the x90j.
Make sure you do the latest software updates as the 55” had an update that addressed the ghosting concerns. I know the 65” also received a TCON update that fixed it entirely; however, I don’t have a 55” to test to see if it can be done similarly.
Hey man I watched all your vids and I’ve tinkered with this thing for hourssssss ! But with no avail I have not achieved 120 hz on my ps5 even though I run the test and it says I can run it !!! I have the Hisense ug7 please help !!
I always use 5 as a default, but it should look fine at 0 too. Hollywood films have sharpness stripped out entirely so I never go under 5 for entertainment content because I was to come up slightly from flatter content, but gaming more than likely isn’t produced flat so 0 shouldn’t negatively affect anything either.
Honestly I’ve reset my setting so often with beta updates that I just leave it in the factory game preset. Only thing I’ve done is moved local dimming from high to medium and turned the brightness up from 35 to 90 for the backlight intensity
I use mid low as I find low too warm in hdr for some games. With backlight on my panel anyway I find 90 the sweet spot before it could start clipping the whites in hdr titles.
Why I can’t get 120hz I just bought it today and I made everything on your videos it doesn’t work please help me out, that’s just the reason I bought it 😪😪😪
I don't wanna be naggy, but why does sony goes by so many routes to enabled the 4k120. I think microsoft makes its a tad easier on that stance. At the end, as long as you have it that's all that matter, I just find it reductant to go on so many settings great video Qd!
I have Ghosting (blue lines when moves camera) with Returnal when I use HDMI Port 4 (2.1). The only solution was use HDMI Port 1 (2.0 60 Hz)... Any recomendation?
Make sure hdmi 4 has Enhanced Mode and Game Mode enabled, and ensure you have updated your TCON as well. I tried Returnal and had no issues using those steps
Aside from the software update, have you updated the TCON? You do this by going into the software update splash screen, but DO NOT hit update. Instead hit up on the remotes DPad 4 times and you will see a new update window specifically for the timing controller. This will not update any other way and this specifically handles motion within the panel.
@@qwazyd0gg I update my u8g by clicking Menu / Settings / Device Preferences / About / System update / Check for update. But I'm going to test what you tell me, I also read in a forum that they recommend calling support and that they give you the update to install via USB.
@@qwazyd0gg 60fps video would probably be able to tell a LOT better than 30, but still, why 30fps for a video about a TV’s motion handling? It’s like using a microscope with a 1.1 times view to study algae, like just, why?
Mostly due to my camera limitations if I’m being completely honest. My A6100 shoots Super 35mm in 4K/24p, but not it 30/60p. Switching to either of the other two causes the camera to crop in on the sensor, which makes lighting and framing with my lens selection next to impossible for the size of my room and TV positioning. I’ve tried recording on my phone; however, even with focus and exposure locks it resulted in unusable footage.
Do you notice any input lag? I'm not sure if I should get this or the C1, on the rtings review video of both I noticed the response time and input lag of this model was a bit higher.
VA will always be slightly higher than OLED due to the nature of the panel technology. With that being said, this is still exceptionally low for the money. If you’re looking for the best gaming panel with an infinite budget, the C1 is your TV; however, the cost of entry vs the small trade offs with this panel make it a solid choice as well.
@@qwazyd0gg The Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL) can't be disabled major fail. The black crush kills alot of shows and movies (unwatchable). I tried for months to calibrate it. Prime video looks terrible...All the Marvel stuff on Disney Plus except for the 2022 releases show super dark. Netfix looks marvelous. Gaming is next level. The mix amp issue makes a ton of sense! Honestly the PS5 dropping optical audio support was a bad move on their part too :(
This is a great tv but unfortunately the 120 hz with hdmi 2.1 is only available in US not here in UK.
Sadly you are correct. Hdmi 2.1 is only present on North American models due to restrictions :(
I just ordered this TV which looked promising via the marketing they do on Amazon but then after I ordered it I noticed that it doesn't have a hdmi 2.1 port, will be I be able to play games on hdmi 2.0 on 1440p at 120hz?if its like that then I'm okay with that but if not I might return it because of their misleading advertising.
@@qwazyd0gg okay I'm okay with 1440 p, it's misleading on how they advertise it,vso when you look at the specs online it usually give the US model specs, with it's 2.1 hdmi, anyway thank-you for your reply👍 much appreciated.
Sadly I'm experiencing flickering or blinking on my tv screen now and I have vrr and 120hz auto enabled and everything

So this TV do have HDMI 2.1 right?
Yes :)
Is it true you need to first actually set the console to 120hz before the tv will allow the enhanced option?
Nope. You can set the input to Enhanced at any time.
Stupid questions but i do need a hdmi 2.1 cable for 120 hz right?
Correct :)

Has the ghosting been fixed?
I hadn't noticed any after Beta M0210 which introduced an update to the EOTF
what about the 55 inch does it have the same Ghosting Issue and if it does when is the update for it ?
I haven’t personally had any experience with the 55”. I know it has received software updates; however, I don’t believe there has been a TCON update. I would check recent Reddit posts for user feedback :)
I did everything you did still running at 60hz idk why it's in the 120hz spot
What’s not working with it? I honestly use my Apple TV, but I’ll try to help where I can :)

Make sure you’re using hdmi 2.1 port 3 or 4, an hdmi 2.1 cable, enhanced mode, and that you have freesync or vrr enabled on your console. With the right combination it will activate on the TV.

HOW did you get a Ps5? I'm finding it impossible. I'm waiting to get this tv until I get my ps5
I was fortunate enough to secure a preorder the day they opened. I had probably 5 stores open in separate tabs and tried to preorder from each location until one actually worked since all the websites were crashing and running terribly due to the online traffic.

Hi, is the 4K 120FPS on ps5 also works on hisense u7g?
It sure does :)
Wooohooo! Glad I could help :)

So if I’m looking down at the back of the tv would that be the top two or bottom two?
Bottom if I remember correctly. They’re labeled with their numbering though

Hey brother quick question should I put the sharpness for HDR Game on 0 or should I put it on 5 ?
I always use 5 as a default, but it should look fine at 0 too. Hollywood films have sharpness stripped out entirely so I never go under 5 for entertainment content because I was to come up slightly from flatter content, but gaming more than likely isn’t produced flat so 0 shouldn’t negatively affect anything either.
@@qwazyd0gg gotcha thanks man what’s your hdr game settings ? Trying to get the right image over here lol
Honestly I’ve reset my setting so often with beta updates that I just leave it in the factory game preset. Only thing I’ve done is moved local dimming from high to medium and turned the brightness up from 35 to 90 for the backlight intensity
@@qwazyd0gg gotcha you don’t put in on 100 for backlight ? And for color do you use mid low or low ?
I use mid low as I find low too warm in hdr for some games. With backlight on my panel anyway I find 90 the sweet spot before it could start clipping the whites in hdr titles.

Make sure hdmi 4 has Enhanced Mode and Game Mode enabled, and ensure you have updated your TCON as well. I tried Returnal and had no issues using those steps
@@qwazyd0gg I have Enganced Mode and Game Mode enabled. My Software version is .L0721.

18:23 I like how you ask your viewers their opinion of how the TV motion affects the image while the video is uploaded at 30fps 🙄🙄🗿🗿🗿
It’s a shame YT doesn’t have a 120hz option. Either way, you can still see clarity, black levels, saturation, and artifacts in any frame rate.

Stay away from the C1 sent mines back for the Hisense. Its has way too many drawbacks for being that expensive.
