Me and my girl were eating at Olive Garden in Rockwall when this hit. We drove to my parents house for safety about 3 miles away. We found out that the tornado was a half mile away from us when we drove there. Don't play games with storms y'all, they will end you if you don't know what you're doing.
I live on the other side of the lake right at Bass Pro Shops and that tornado was heading right towards us, so our 'safe place' is to drive south of here about 2 miles to the intersection of Collins/Town East. From there you can see a couple of miles in each direction by pulling off the road and sitting there at the intersection. Between that and tracking radar/fulcrum points we got to our 'safe spot' to monitor its movement - which ended up 1.5 miles to the north of us, so we got lucky for sure. The F4 in 2015 essentially hit 2 blocks away. You definitely have to be 'up on the wheel' when storms come up around here.
My aunty lives in Rockwall...it's a beautiful place! Little old me is in the UK & man I'm glad I don't have to hear these sirens as they're scary as hell
I live in Rockwall myself and I remember this well due to a funny story. My friend and I were watching Gravity Falls over Discord and we were just commenting over it and making jokes. Suddenly I hear the sirens. I said, in probably the most casual tone ever; "Uh-oh, tornado. Be right back." Edit: The Tornado was no where near our neighborhood but the sirens were still going obviously. My poor brothers panicked. Edit 2: My friend actually has a recording of me saying that cause we were recording our commentary. I'll have to see if we can extract that specific time.
Amazing! I miss the p50 😢
