Great series so far-unboxing, reboxing, review. Looking forward to the upcoming 4th, 5th & 6th Castles of Burgundy: Special Edition videos!

Me and my wife went back and forth on the maximum pledge. We normally despise KS/GF projects full of plastic. Friend of ours has seen the minis in Essen and he gave us the final push towards full pledge. I was sure, that 3d minis will get in the way too much, but we risked it and im happy about that. Thanks for your thoughts on the minis, very helpful and insightful as always. We love CoB, cant wait for our copy to arrive.
Love the game, I have the original but don't get to play it nearly enough! From watching the unboxing and this video I think I would personally pass on the terrain tiles. They are nice but I believe the game would be easier to play without. I really like the cardboard with the building descriptions on the back! That would help tremendously in teaching the game. I would not mind the acrylic either just because the thicker tiles would be very nice to use. Great information guys!
I got this second hand today with help of your recommendation among others. Can't wait to play it- wished I had the tiles but I will maybe get them later.
I did the same thing in my first playthrough of this new edition and used all the different expansions. I kind of liked it in the sense that I had more options on die rolls that weren't helping my primary strategy. The vineyard is really interesting and makes for some hard decisions; I think I might always play with the trade routes, and the shields were definitely a new twist since you use both of your dice but they can give you a lot of points (if you remember to pay for them at the end of each phase!). The only thing I'm still deciding on is if I actually want to keep the acrylic tiles. I love the extra weight in the bags and the feel of them over the cardboard, so probably will, but some like the bonus tiles and workers get really slippery when they're stacked, which is annoying. Still such a great new version though.
I’m definitely curious about what retail will look like for this version of the game. I held off backing the game found project because we just don’t play that often. Maybe 2 times per year. But if I can get a pared down retail copy and sell off my anniversary edition I’m in.
Yes, it will be interesting to see the retail! I like this version a lot, and would have done with only the cardboard hexes as well! :) Thanks for watching!
I don’t normally buy special editions of games I already own, but Castles of Burgundy is one of our favourite games that was only let down by its bland look.
It is also one of my wife and mine favorite games. We did get this new edition and absolutely love it and I LOVE playing with everything included and so does my wife. I highly recommend castles of burgundy special edition. We have the most basic special edition and it is amazing.
It’s a nice expansion, but I do not think it is enough to get the new version for just that. I am such a fan of the game, and have played 99% of it with just base game! I love the upgraded version of one of my favorite games, but it’s just a luxury version!
In my opinion playing with all the expansions added in makes the game even that more much more amazing. I feel like this edition should have been called CoB Definitive Edition because it's perfect. I only had the base game before owning this and was totally happy with it but I'm super glad I have this edition now.
That's Awaken Realms production for you. They pack their games full of unneeded crap and make you pay 2-3 times more for it. Love the game itself, didn't back this edition.
I wouldn’t say they are scratching. We had maybe a couple ones with some small ones, but you have to look very closely. Not something you’ll see in play!

Glad to hear that! Hope you’ll love the game 🤩

So happy to hear you are enjoying the new version! So much stuff to choose from! Thanks for watching, and for sharing your thoughts!
I’ll buy the acrylic tiles off you if you want to sell. I didn’t opt for them and am regretting it.

Really hope there’s a way to get the acrylic tiles at some point. I decided against them when I backed it and am really regretting it.
I don't regret my cardboard choice at all, but maybe in the future I'll get the acrylic, I'll see how many games it will see.
@@nirszi I’m not sure it will be possible to buy the acrylic tiles later. Awaken Realms haven’t confirmed.
Wish I could get the expansion for my old version. Really feels awful to spend 130-150 bucks on CoB

So the acrylic ones are scratching already?? That's very disappointing to hear.

@@BoardGamingRamblings oh ok, I thought you meant they are easy to scratch.
Haven’t seen that so far! :)
@@BoardGamingRamblings can you tell me if you are having problems identifying the monasteries, the pictures look way too small!
Are you thinking about seeing what tile is what? No problems at all, this is the easiest version for sure :)
Wait, why do you guys rank the anniversary edition so low?
We have a video comparing the two first editions! Not to dodge your question, but I know past Sunniva and Johannes knows it better that present 😂
@@BoardGamingRamblings lol ok will check it out
Sorry 😅
@@BoardGamingRamblings it’s ok! We’re still friends
First!
Woop woop! Glad to have you here 🤩
