Crazy ive heard this song on the radio all my life and never could care for it, then randomly one day the shit hit hard af and i still aint been the same since
So human, so poignant, so spiritual, so humble, and suddenly you enter into the realm of spirit and never want to leave. This has such a special vibe. So honest.
It’s amazing how sometimes we just aren’t ready for certain lyrics, tunes or pieces of art until we have lived through various experiences, met different people, felt joys and pains, failed and bled, returned and grew. As a kid I heard this song a lot on the radio and cast it away as irrelevant. How wrong I was. This version particularly pierces into my soul. Cheers REM. Thank you.
So absolutely true and well articulated! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. This is so very true. One of the bands I cast aside at the time was Audioslave. As a huge SG fan, I just didn't get it at the time. I sifted through the first 2 albums again a few years ago and I was just floored. Right art, right time. ❤

This is one of those songs that no matter hold old it gets will always be listened to, guaranteed people will still listen to it for thousands of years
Love that the bass is more pronounced in the live versions. The mandolin usually gets the spotlight on this song but that bass line is holding it all together.
Indeed, I always feel Mike Mills' bass work (and his harmonizing backing vocals) on this song is a bit underappreciated. Still, it doesn't really work with the mandolin substituted for a guitar.
This song became a favorite when it first came out, I am soon to be 71 and I just watched this, tomorrow I'll sing it to my cats, GFR is my favorite group, but REM is right there, every waking hour, I'm choosing my confessions
"Losing My Religion" remains one of R.E.M.'s most beloved and enduring songs, often cited as one of the greatest songs of the 1990s and a defining track of the alternative rock genre.
I love that he just keeps singing in this song - no breaks except for the repeated intro - so insistent no middle 8, and so deliberate - great untraditional writing
I absolutely love this song. 40 years later I’m listening to Losing my Religion and watching REM on RUclips. Im 56 now and I go straight back to 20 something in college at AU. Right across the Georgia line. Thank you, REM for the soundtrack to my college memories.
The Song has a dark painful melody and words, filled with story of his life stuck in a limbo between the love of his life, God and him self alone in the corner ...
@@tortoiselover you do realize the song actually isn’t about losing religion. that is a southern expression for “losing my temper” it’s not “satanist” omfg…

Oh my god, I can’t believe how excited the crowd was...!!!!! And boy Michael sure revelled in the excitement. As they begin to play, the crowd erupts and Michael looks over to Mike Mills with a huge grin on face. They certainly gave it their all and the crowd just couldn’t get enough of it. A standout performance from everyone that night, including the audience. It just doesn’t get any better than that. The finest performance ever..!!!!!!!!!
