Teamwork makes the dream work! In 1991 we built an awesome 6 stall horse barn here on our homestead. We often joked that we didn't have a lot of money, but we had plenty of muscles. lol Well, today we finished digging out the stall compost from the last two remaining stalls to prepare them for a concrete pour. Loved horses all my life, but at 62 more horses just aren't in the plan. So, we're repurposing this awesome space built a man-cave, now building my she-shed, enclosed tool and large equipment storage etc... with the help of our John Deere tractor, thank God for that tractor because these days we have more money than muscles. Love watching what you two are building together, and many years from now you'll have these amazing memories to keep you smiling!

Good job, getting that beam set. Please take a moment and brace it diagonally both left and right side, as well as a diagonally from the middle post near the bottom and back too the top along the side of the engineered beam. Because even though you have secured it at the bottom. The latteral movement will exceed the spec loads until it is locked into place with the TJI system. Safety first! 🙂👍
Also I would suggest once the lower section is down would be to pour the concrete, it makes it easier, just cover the beams with something. This will allow you to be able to build the stairs.
The closest and shower looks great.
Have a good week and God bless amen.

For little notches in wood, a router works well and is safer than the saw and chisel. Line levels sag a little. When using a power saw, gloves are dangerous. It can pull your hand into the blade. I'm glad that you haven't been hurt but I worry that you will get caught. I come from a family of carpenters who all died with all of their fingers. Good job with the beam. When moving things, momentum can cause troubles. I've learned that columns need temporary bracing while loading and connecting. Don't be afraid to use extra bracing. Good Luck, Rick
