I love to watch your family dynamics. The love and respect that Jeremy and Melissa have for each other is such a great example for their kids to see. ❤
Back to Music video by Nevaeh and today's garden video shows how long Kenjie has been guarding the family. He always seems like he knows what he's doing.
Melissa dont worry.....40's are the best! I was 48 when I decided to become a volunteer EMT for our country community....I was in it for a decade and it was great!!! I am now almost 74 and have done almost everything I wanted with my husband's support! Your family are good Stewart's of your land and family!!!
We have to connect with the earth. It's very healing to the soul. While gardening, you are meditating. Ya'll are earth warriors. You are teaching your kids well. ❤😊❤ I love rabbit pellets in my flowers
To help keep deer or elk from messing up your wire fencing, take bright colored strips of material and tie a line across, from pole to pole so the animals can see and slow down.
Great video! I have a 8 foot fence around my garden and 2 yrs ago a deer jumped the fence and landed in the garden. My husband ran it out. Deer can almost get into anything. I enjoyed watching you teach your young children how to sew pea seeds. They will never forget those early lessons. And your dog....he just wants to be part of what ever is going on. Dogs and cats are such neat pets to have. All they want to do is give you love. See you next week.
I found myself crying at the beauty of your family And that YOU did it ,you have achieved the dream . Of what so many of us long for ,right down to the pony ! And suddenly I realized ,it's your light ...it is beaming And bouncing and refracting and those who are sensitive Are just blinded and then .... Your closing was so .,...so .....perfect . The back drop views of galloping horses against the mountains And the Sweet sheep ...beautifully done !
Amen ❤ I would love to layout a blanket in your pasture at night and gaze into the sky. I live in New Mexico, and once upon a time, we had no light pollution 😢 You and your family are very blessed ❤
What a gorgeous location to do life. The scenery is beautiful and there is no better way to raise a family than connecting with the earth and all God’s great creations.
The layout and design of your property is clearly well-thought through. It is by far my favorite YT self-build. Jeremy’s multitude of skills and ability makes it all seem so easy, as he confidently gets on with it, making it seem like this is what he has been doing all of his life. Which, of course, he hasn’t. And Melissa, your diverse talents and the amazing cultural heritage you are passing on to your beautiful children, make you both the parents every child needs. Role models of hardworking, industrious and courageous Beings, who enjoy and cherish the little kids inside of yourselves, always up for a joyful, silly moment. Beautiful to see, and if I could, I would prescribe your channel as a ‘book’ of life lessons for the classrooms full of young people I work with. Thank you for sharing your wholesome, healthy and balanced life story. ❤
I love your planting family activities, it's always great to see them getting involved and loving it. You guy's are rocking it. Good to see the horse is settling in and the nicer weather is out. Love the vlog :)
A great day at the homestead, I am doing the same thing you all our doing.....getting the garden beds ready. Planting cukes, yellow onions, and spinach seeds today. Working in the garden is the best way to unplug in this crazy world we live in now. May your harvest be many....and your weeds be few.
Good job guys - as Kenji was watching you he was telling himself "you make me so tired just watching you doing all that gardening work and repairs - glad he is doing so well - the power of prayers does wonders - Happy Birthday, Melissa and happy Mothers Day - have a great week - love ya all more !!
Good to see the Horses have somewhat adapted to the new Pony. The Garden is going to be your best this year. Good Luck! Thank you for always showing love to your Animals, especially the lovely and quiet Sharpei.
What a Beautiful Life all of you have🎉! I know it's lots of work, but it shows. Those who do nothing get nothing. Those of us who garden can feed ourselves. Love you all. Happy Mother's Day, Melissa. 19:54
I don't know why Kenji's tail wagging at 00:18:16 made me laugh out loud, but it did. He's so faithful to go with you everywhere you go, no matter what you're doing, but this time he just wanted to sleep. So... he at least acknowledged you. That was just too cute. He's an incredible dog!
With every episode I wish I could live the life you’re living… but age and distance prevents that. I do , however, get a twenty minute reprieve from the insanity of today’s reality (for most of us). It refreshes my soul and keeps me moving forward. I love seeing how involved and truly invested your children are in your lifestyle. That too gives me hope for the future. Kenji looks quite content ; I’m so happy he is doing as well as possible. Blessings to all of you♥️
I agree with you. Rabbit poop is the very best fertilizer for your garden. As a child, my Dad raised rabbits and every spring it was time to clean the poop from under their cages. We always put it in our garden and Dad would use his rototiller to mix it in the soil. Our vegetable garden yielded wonderful produce. We used it in our blackberry and strawberry patch. Good luck with your garden this summer.
I'm so happy you found a solution to the kids learning how to ride and trust horses. Someone told me a while ago that mares cause problems. I know what they mean now. That's why they make mare motels. If I were you I would keep them separated. It's only a matter of time until the horse that didn't bond with the pony keeps pushing and injures himself or the pony. It's conflict that you don't need on your ranch. They can visit over the fence.
You have a good size property, it lets you do so much for a good family life. This is one of the best times of the year when starting to plant in your garden. Also, you have a good selection of different animals. Love from Mike. ❤
My family always had gardens,my momma is one of 12 so I imagine it was a huge help in the budget but love to see gardening be a part of your family’s routine, growing lots of memories
Landscape fabric and mulch between the garden beds will help eliminate weeds. Cardboard is also a great option. I put cardboard in all my flower and food brds. No more grads or weeds.
Happy Birthday Melissa and Happy ❤️ I would just like to say that I think you are an incredible mamma. Teaching and involving your children in all that you do on your homestead. The weed pulling is never fun but the rewards are incredible and they will All see this... The animals that they feed and play with and ride bring them love and confidence ❤ I can't wait to see the garden in full bloom and All of the Beautiful Bounty it will produce. And I am So Happy that lil Debbie has found a Beautiful, Loving home and the children are comfortable riding her😊 And then we have Jeremy... Always so hard working, knows what he's doing with any task at hand, his skills astound me. Love and Blessings to You All 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
Isn't it fun to get out in the yard and start working again, After a long winter? May I suggest something that work for us and the fence around the garden. We put fluorescent tape In the middle of each section, Two to three Feet apart, The wildlife Sees it a little better, Save you time and money from having to repair sections. I hope you have a fun weekend with your family and happy mother's day!❤
Youre last sentence made me cry! I mourn those good old days, and try to get it back as soon as we can return to our home. Thank you Melissa...Truer words I have not heard in a looooong time. God bless y'all.
Growing your own food is awesome and a must these days! We were created as hunter gatherers are in our natural elements when we do so. I was thinking about buying land in southeast Asia, where food grows in wild in abundance. You are so blessed!
You guys are surely not gonna be bored any time soon. So many projects going is a gr8 idea. When you get bored with one . . . move over to another. I love how you are taking more 'family time' as that is really the most important use of time. You have a beautiful life. Thanks for sharing with us.
❤ Yay! Spring has sprung! Black fly protection for the horsies maybe? Feed Koda first, that might help his sense of belonging. Self-exile because he can hear you guys. No negative judgement occurring by me, just a possible explanation for behaviors. Bunny brick! Got it immediately, Jeremy; no words needed.😄
Good morning GSL family. Happy Birthday Day and Happy Mother's Day! Cardboard is definitely the way to go to tamp down those weeds. You need pieces with no ink/writing on them. No wax on them. Water the cardboard and make it good and wet when you put it down and then cover with your compost Use a sharp pointed hoe or big knife to cut through the cardboard for your plants or seeds . Hugs from N.C..❤️
I have 2 pet flemish giant cross rabbits & agree their 'tons' of manure are the best there is for the garden. Great to see the kids on Debbie she looks very docile just perfect for learner riders
Spring is the time for renewal, and you all are getting to it, quite nicely. Happy Mother's Day, Melissa and all the Good Simply Living RUclips Mommas.
That garden is going to be amazing.. I saw a post on another SM site and thought it was a cool hack. When ur back gets sore from bending over putting a seed in at a time ... take a PVC pipe and shoot the seed down it. It saves ur back from bending over... good luck in the garden, can't wait to see the hard work pay off !!!! ❤️
Tengo 55 años y lo más que recuerdo son esos momentos en el campo jugando y llenos de tierra hasta las orejas, pero nos hacían tan felices y el recordarlos es vivir🤗
Great job everyone. Lots accomplished for the garden and the compost and getting ready to fix the animal pins too. liked the way the young ones got together for their home schooling time and their fun times too. Stay safe and keep having fun out there. Fred.
I so enjoy this time of year! My garden is nice and green! No real heat stress yet! Lookin forward to seeing your garden grow! Praying you have an abundant harvest that will fill your beautiful pantry with lovey home grown food!
Why doesn't RUclips's comment counter not work anymore? (See? It says "0 comments" up at the top!) Everytime I watch one of GSL videos, I am always elated by how valuable doing simple things (like garden prep, horse riding, and hiking through brambles) contains so much valuable meaning. Then, if that weren't enough, Melissa drives a stake through my heart with her closing summary. Love it whille you have it!
We were created to cultivate the earth….it’s a part of us. That’s why it’s so satisfying, what a gift ☺️ I can’t wait to see your garden! I have missed that part of your videos, but I totally understand you had other priorities for a season of time. Good job family 🥰 Oh and I love Jeremy’s song of how strong you are Melissa 💪😎🤣 (the sunglasses are for the glare 😂 just kidding Melissa, 🙋♀️ I am the same right now 🫣😁
When I see Jeremy on that tractor, I think of Oliver on his tractor and the song, Green Acres is the place to be! Jeremy always looks so happy like Oliver did in the TV show!
Really enjoyed this video. Good Simple Living is what it is all about! Jeremy I loved your question to Melissa “Do you ever wonder how many things we have carried together?” I am betting you have carried more in your hearts together over the years ♥️♥️ than anything material. Happy Mothers Day Melissa! 💐
Have you guys considered using a portion of your field to grow a bulk harvest of something, say corn? Then sell it out by the road side. Last year I kept one corn cob in a cupboard in the kitchen leaving it to dry out for nine months, then planted the kernels in the ground. It was the first time I had tried planting a crop from a previous crop instead of packet seeds, and they all came up really well. It only takes one corn cob to plant a tennis court sized area!
the acid will kill the leaves before reaching the root system, and the weeds may grow back quickly. For longer-lasting removal, mix 1 cup of table salt with 1 gallon of vinegar. Salt dries out the weed's root system.
Also the parenting and teaching your kids how life is really like in this real world I wish we still had good people/parents like you guys.!!!! You guys have changed so many peoples live bc of your videos an the things y’all do.!! We need more family like you guys in this world fr.!!! I don’t wanna talk on everybody’s behalf but everyone wish to have a family like you guys do.!!!! If I can I would donate so much $$ to y’all bc the work you guys have done is just amazing every video I watch from you guys I have teared up or cried in a good way.!!! Your videos mean so much to everyone you guys put out.!!!!! You guys are my other family from the other side of the world. 1000%%
Such joyful moments, even when you are scooping poop! Love how the kids are so involved. Kenji is so sweet, as you walked by at the end, even though appearing asleep, his tail started to wag. Always a pleasure to watch your videos and the amazing progress you have made in your special part of this big world.
Happy Birthday and Happy Mothers Day Melissa! You are so blessed to have such a wonderful family (animals included). Be well and may the good Lord be with all of you.
so happy to see you getting the garden going !! I know how important it is, inspiration for me to get moving on mine, LOL. Little Debbie is so cute and you can see the love the kids have for her. Congrats on moving forward. Repairs are constant, glad to see you keep up with them. Your place is really coming along and I am sure many years of joy are to come. God Bless all of you. looking forward to the next video!!!
So many things to do! But you two handle it so well! Having so many different chores, and projects, and the way you get your little ones involved is awesome. So many kids wouldn’t survive if they didn’t have the luxuries they have. That is another reason I look forward to watching your videos.
Nice too see that the warmer weather has arrived for you. So that you can get everything ready for spring. And there's nothing wrong with slowing down the crazy pace, we typically only get one chance. Unless God gives us a second chance, then that craziness no longer is the focus. So taking a break and enjoying what really matters, just maybe is a better choice. Have a good week and God bless amen. And Melissa have a good mother's day celebration.
Horse manure we have found has too many weeds in it. Chicken manure is extremely HOT so needs to rest in the soil thru the winter before planting in it.
Glad it's finally spring for you, I know the garden will be over growing with wonderful fruit's & veggies & everything seems to be falling into place. This is so wonderful & can't wait for more video's. The highlight of my Saturday's. Thank you.
So jealous, so impressed, so happy to see the family all working together to accomplish a task of the garden. I absolutely love when I can get the family to do anything, to see them put in full effort is awe inspiring.
Morning guys! So happy to watch your beautiful family working together outside, just as you all are always doing. You’re making great progress and I’m grateful you are taking us along with you! God’s blessings always!❤❤❤
i live in SW MT and my soil is not so great for gardening either. a few years ago i went to a local landscape company and got a couple of yards of their organic garden soil mix they sell in bulk. the areas of the garden with this compost added to it grows 2-3 times as much food as the areas without it. worth the effort, and the cost was cheap since it was in bulk.
Yes you can put ice in wine. I do, and this was info from a wine tasting event. I look so forward to your videos and congratulations to Nevaeh for her own car! Stay safe!😊
I loved when you did the time lapse of the mountain range from day to night!!! It looks beautiful because you can even see the faint lights of the Aurora Borealis!!! I envy you for choosing God’s Country to build and live on!!!
I love to watch your family dynamics. The love and respect that Jeremy and Melissa have for each other is such a great example for their kids to see. ❤
You can work in the garden all day and never remember what you thought about. I love it.
Happy Birthday 🎈
🎉Melissa 🎉
Life begins at 40
It begins to go downhill🙃I'm 73 & I know enjoy your youth while you can ❤️
Back to Music video by Nevaeh and today's garden video shows how long Kenjie has been guarding the family. He always seems like he knows what he's doing.

I love your last sentence. Especially in light of AI. You have a REAL family with REAL love.

Loved your cat taking a nature walk on the log with the family. Sweet and simple things
You guys rock. Gives new literal meaning to "Shoveling s___" The garden will turn out fantastic. 👍
Oh how I wish I was 40 again!! Happy Birthday Young Lady!! 💜💜💙💙 Thank you all for brining us along on your journey!
her hubby looks in his 30s.
Gardening and the microbes in the dirt are actually good for mental health. I love digging in the dirt. So relaxing.
One of your best family videos in awhile. Thank you for slowing down and explaining your thought process for your family.
❤️
You are right..more and faster does not equal better!
P.S. I love how yellow cat and Kenji follow the kids all around on your family hikes. So cute.
I love your planting family activities, it's always great to see them getting involved and loving it. You guy's are rocking it. Good to see the horse is settling in and the nicer weather is out. Love the vlog :)

I love seeing your kids making up their own fun. We would do that waaaayyyy back in the day.
By working in your garden, you are actually ( physically and spiritually) grounding yourself and literally getting rid of negative energy...
🎉Happy Birthday Mellisa🥳🎉
I have to say I claimed my 40s as the best decade of my life🎉
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoyed mine🥰❣️

the acid will kill the leaves before reaching the root system, and the weeds may grow back quickly. For longer-lasting removal, mix 1 cup of table salt with 1 gallon of vinegar. Salt dries out the weed's root system.
I love how the animals always find the camera to head butt!😂
Happy birthday Melissa 🎉 🥂🎉
Every time!

Such joyful moments, even when you are scooping poop! Love how the kids are so involved. Kenji is so sweet, as you walked by at the end, even though appearing asleep, his tail started to wag. Always a pleasure to watch your videos and the amazing progress you have made in your special part of this big world.
You have the most beautiful sky at night. It's absolutely breathtaking. ( I'd be parking my butt in a chair just to watch it for an hour or two)
Happy Birthday and Happy Mothers Day Melissa! You are so blessed to have such a wonderful family (animals included). Be well and may the good Lord be with all of you.
Blessed indeed! Thank you 😊 💓
This is beautiful Melissa, Jeremy and kids
so happy to see you getting the garden going !!
Thank you so much 💓 She's fitting in nicely so far! God bless
Stay safe!😊
Another awesome video!! Always try and scale it back! We should always try and get back to the purest form of life 🤗🤗
Looking great! Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. Happy Birthday Melissa!
Thank you 😊
I agree with you that gardening & getting your hands dirty with soil is so important for a family. ❤
I noticed that the rainbows end is in North Idaho.
I loved when you did the time lapse of the mountain range from day to night!!! It looks beautiful because you can even see the faint lights of the Aurora Borealis!!! I envy you for choosing God’s Country to build and live on!!!
