I bought the interface today from amazon and was not at all able to set it up. It was not taking the phantom power for any mic. I changed two mics and two XLR cables - but Nah!! Then, I saw your video and realised, I need to click on the round button to switch on the phantom mode! you really made my day, Ben! Great work! Keep it up! :)
What perfect timing! I was wondering why this video didn't have way more views when I clicked on it because it was exactly what I was looking for since I've been looking at buying this interface, and it turns out you only uploaded it today! Great work!
I'm so jealous! I've been wanted to try that mic. To answer your question, NO you don't need the interface because the new Rode Podmic USB allows you to connect via USB-C. The mic I used in this video was XLR only so I needed the interface due to the XLR cable. Hope that helps!

Hello, first of all, thank you for this quick and clear explanation, it was really helpful ! I'm planning to buy my first ever recording setup and AI-1 have a big chance to be part of it. But I still have one question : if I select the AI-1 as the output device and I have an instrumental I want to sing with on my recording software, does both the music and the microphone will play in my headphone ?
Hi! Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it! From what I understand, you can monitor you input and software at the same time through the interface. I'll have to do some testing today, but there shouldn't be any reason why you can't have both playing back in your headphones. I'll let you know. Great question! :)
Awesome video. Thanks a lot. I keep getting a crackling sound. I purchased a Rode Podmic and using the Rode Ai-1 to connect it to my MiniMac M2... I changed cables, connections and whatever, but it keeps recording with a very nasty crackling sound. Any idea what I can do next?
Thanks for watching! There could be environmental aspects that are affecting the recording. I've had mics crackle because I have too many electronics around them while recording. Have you tried recording in a controlled environment with just the mic and audio interface? That could help. :)
Thanks @@blogwithben We were able to isolate the issue with my desktop setup (Mac mini M2 /OS ventura). My laptop (Macbook Air M1 - OS Monterey) has no issues. So there definitely is some kind of interference with the desktop situation....(and not a cable or connection issue)...still experimenting,

Hi, Ahmed! Thanks for watching! Have you tried recording with a different mic? I would also try recording your voice further away from the mic and then increasing the volume of your vocals in post production. What type of mic are you using?
I had the same problem. Basically try to adjust the angle of the mic helps (if your mic takes from top of your head instead of your throat), secondly i could take this off with running software noise removal filter like "click removal". but the real improvement would be try to take more rest to drink way more water.
