What makes the Archivile so good against these hitscan enemies is that they have lower hp than Archivile's explosion attack. They move faster have the forth higher amount of hp. And also the less pain chance in the game.
Plenty of gibs flying around in this match! EDIT: Clustering together wasn't the best thing for the Shotgunners to do since it made more of them vulnerable to splash damage from the Archvile's attack.
Arch-Viles are enormously superior to Sargeants. It reminds me a classmate of mine was wondering how much people it will take to beat down a hippopotamus using fists and feet only
Enough people that exhaustion kills the hippopotamus, as I doubt human fists and feet could make much of a dent in the beast. Unless the people figure out using Ant Tactics! Then only enough to exhaust the hippo while keeping a steady constriction of each of its limbs.
If you're talking about bunch-up wars (full motivation, all out attack, no hesitation, fear or mercy), then I'd say it takes about 7. Shove one unlucky bastard down it's huge mouth, have another 2 make sure it's kept there. 4 other guys try to block the airways. Because even if you take out the eyes, you're not digging far into that socket, and that skull will break long after all those fists and feet are already broken. No way of doing much damage to the beast's body. MAYBE you could damage the legs by going for the knee-joint, but I'd say that's not very feasible. Because the beast will be moving and crushing people meanwhile. You know, scratch that, let's call it 15.
@@ParleLeVu i mean looking at those sargeants trying to overcome archviles feels like sending a bunch of unarmed people to beat a hippopotamus. when they fail you send a larger mob to see if it makes difference, and it almost doesn't until there is a horde
@@TheDoomerBlox You're right, it becomes a battle of exhaustion for the hippo. The majority of animals can't run and breathe at the same time. Humans are amongst the very few that can do that. That's what made us such successful hunters. Once the hippo tires out and it should very quickly. It would probably be defeated from the stress of multiple beatings.
When the duals are finally done, you can then do team fights with different types fighting together against another competing group. I would still love to see Heretic and Hexen then Heretic/Hexen vs Doom
The large arena wasn't so bad for the hitscanners this time, since Arch Viles have a limited attack range too (Unless retaliating, but if they are retaliating, it means the shotgunners can hit them too)
Hardcore Nightmare mode = every monster killed respawns into an Archvile after X seconds? (I don't know what the Nightmare timer is) For extra spice throw in some DarkdoomZ into the mix and see yourself running in pitch black dark corridors
Good effort but I feel like this test isn't quite fair to the shotgunners as their damage effectiveness greatly decreases when they're firing from a long range.
Need to redo the videos involving hit scanners so they are on platforms or inside line deffs that block monsters movement so they don't shoot each other. Also for projectile enemies that walk in front of each other the projects never reach their targets. You need to re do the chaingunners vs cyberdemon because they were all out of range of the cyberdemons. Again an argument for elevated platforms do the hit scanners don't shoot each other but can be in range of the cyberdemons

@@sheliak4576 Nah, infighting between the sargeants is what's been disabled. Hitscanners and Lost Souls can still damage each other in these battles.

Archviles have an unlimited attack range...its pure LOS. If they can see you...they can kill you.

100 guys with shotguns is not a joke
It evn states in the game that the shotgun is best used up close. The spread of the bullets is whats killing the advantage of the shotgunners.
