@@tom-fm8rp And now the Kerbal, having failed to rendez-vous with the station, drifts helplessly into outer space. Such are the perils of this species' existence.
I can relate to making up “ missions” for lack of a better term especially for games that take on a more sandbox mode after the main story or objective I personally think it really fun
even though there are no cities in kerbin and there is a lot of empty space kerbal kind must colonyze laythe and every other planet and moon in the kerbol system
You should try to recreate the opportunity rover mission. R.I.P opportunity. Edit: Thanks everyone for all the likes! Double edit: Apparently the opportunity rover came back online and is doing rover stuff! Triple update: It was curiosity that reboot opportunity is still dead😥
I also very much appreciate you showing the build, timelapse or not. I've grabbed so many ideas out of these videos it brought a whole new life to KSP.
1) Most games I play are games with a part that allow you to be creative and make missions and things. Arma 3; I love to play around in Zeus and make mini missions for myself and my friends. Men of War Assault Squad 2: I spend my time in the editor making different battles with maps, having custom missions. So, I'd say it's not weird, just the creative mind being great. 2) Looking forward to more of the Life on Laythe series.
This is something I do too. When I was younger, I had over twenty stuffed animals and they went on spy missions and space missions. They even entered the multiverse and went to another dimension
On personal rp'ing in games, I used to use Warcraft 2's map editor to make little stories when I was in junior school. Like, successfully reach the village to obtain their support, then work together to beat the orcs, sort of thing. Usually LotR-based in my head as I'd watched the Bakshi film on an old vhs tape.
Your point on making up scenarios is actually pretty common, especially in a game as open-ended as KSP. I do it all the time on G-Mod, especially when I'm playing with friends. We'd often spawn a bunch of SCP-096 Nexbots, looking at their faces, and running like hell, often in the Site-19 map. Plus I like to do it in games like Subnautica or even Elite Dangerous (although Elite encourages that, Subnautica does have a set story)
I don't really watch kerbal game play other than Scott Manley I think is his name but this and the episode before it were amazing! Very well planned out and I salute your dedication to this "game"! Its almost more of a simulation it seems so well made. Anyway was really cool to watch! Good job! We need more smart people like you actually working in the space industry and I hope your young enough have dreams of working in that area if possible. I know a resume of being good at kerbal won't help you much but your understanding of all things related to this area must help. If not you hopefully this game has inspired others to get into this kinda work in the real world and space.
One of the cool things about playing the PS4 version, is that you can launch directly from the mun in sandbox... It'd be awesome to see what you could build in the way of a large warship (either built in orbit or launched in one shot) 😮 big fan of the ksp vids 👊
You’re the coolest freak I know 😊, I am a fairly new subscriber so I have not seen all of your videos yet, but I am going thru all of them while this COVID lock-down happens, I am loving “Life on Laythe” series, I really appreciate your productions.
I make up little scenarios in my head while I’m playing ksp. You’re not alone! Also I have a idea for another series like this.its name would be Mysterious Minmus!
You know what would be cool? Attach huge water bases to the one you landed and make like the Minmus hotel, but bigger. By the was you're the best Matt.
When C&C Generals was released I sunk about 1000 hours into the World Builder creating my own little stories and scenarios, none of them ever intended to be used in game, I just enjoyed creating a narrative using this tool to visualise this world I’d created in my head. And the stories were hella intricate....I should write a book I think....
'do a thubs up each morning' is the most kerbal way of communicating, espectially considering the massive amount of communications equipment these have
3:25 i do that. For ksp, i take my lack of skill and imagine my space center as just a small satilite company, trying to expandall it does. When i watch your videos, and try to learn from them, i imagine its happening in the same universe, just a MUCH bigger company then it.

OMFG I have stories CONSTANTLY in my head LMFAO!! My gf said she does too, but when I told her about how I have not just plot, but dialog, in my head - she just kinda stared at me lol🤣
although i do not have KSP I still have Spaceflight Simulator (first thing on the playstore under the search "spaceflight simulator") and your base designs have inspired a great many of mine, even if I'm limited to a 2d plane. I love your content!
heyy great vid as always also do you use any mods to assist you for orbits or any maneuvers ? i'm not good at this game and it's been month since i didn't play so watching someone succesfully land anything on laythe is quite impressive to me
I've got a weird Kerbel challenge for you: Remember in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where they are told that the holy grail grants immortality, but you can't take it past the 'great seal'? That only constrains it's movement in the X and Y planes, but nobody said anything about the Z axis ; ). So, assuming this fictional temple were on the equator, if you bored in from above and lifted the grail straight up onto the top of the rocket you built on top of the site, could you launch it STRAIGHT into geostationary orbit without moving in X or Y axis? Is this actually possible? Or would you have to orbit to do so, thus inviting an inexplicable Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly at the hands of a vengeful god? This question is asked all in good fun, and with the thought of how fast our space technology would advance if every billionaire knew that imortality was waiting up there for anyone who could build a ship to reach it and a space station to enjoy it.
You should have landed the base on the North Pole right in the middle. It’s all flat and I think you can have a connection with the KSC all the time and have the sun never set.
"Life on Laythe" Is one hell of a David Attenborough documentary.
Much superior to *Dynasties*
"Life of Laythe", this has to be a documentary matt, food for thought ;)
@@degg6423 Yeah, dynasties wasn't very good compared to the likes of Blue Planet and Planet Earth.
Here we see a kerbal in its natural habitat

maddox gore same
same.
Making your own milsins is the best part
I probably would but I don’t have enough time or creativity.
Same
You should try to make a submarine for exploration of Laythe’s oceans.
Good Idea !!!
I think he has in the past
Great idea and sea 🌊 if you can make it a kit kat
Or a U boat so it is dual purpose
Gooooooood idea
I challenge you to send a cruise ship to lathe
Ian Galloway *_y e s_*
Y E S that would be amazing
No a extra mega yacht
i’m thinking of that in my head a that looks really cool
Ah yes, the ultra titanic

i love build too
even though there are no cities in kerbin and there is a lot of empty space kerbal kind must colonyze laythe and every other planet and moon in the kerbol system
I’m colonizing minmus in one of my save games
Im colonizing laythe modded with alot of mods
I would love if KSP 2 includes cities of some sort on Kerbin, though I imagine that would be hard to do
W.D Gaster same but im only using big rovers and planes for now
“Skip build: 4:15”
*puts hands up* We don’t do that here.

Thx for giving me the skipping time

YOU’VE HIT 200K! I remember watching your sub count climb up from 49,990 to 50k, and your 100k spaceplane.

I have my own mini blunder birds thing because my brother is new to the game and I enjoy saving his stranded Kerbals
Wait until he gets Jebediah stuck under an MK3 fuselage gin the mohole
Fun fact: the four kerbals you start out with are immortal, which means if they die after a few days they will come back
You know, I once had a plan to go to the Jool system that was kind of like this.
It was supposed to be a one way trip.
I had a plan to go to the Mun on a one way mission, but I got Joeden Kerman back to his heroes welcome. Believe.
KSP lessons: don't send extra kerbals on a rescue mission, because invariably you will end up stranding them too.
The juul system?
Oh.....oh god

DUDE! NO! Please tell us the little stories. Sips does that too and i love it. doesnt matter how stupid it is i like it.
I really enjoy these videos. They are laid back and give me ideas on building structures in KSP, Thanks for making them!
You sir, are a truly remarkable individual. And I appreciate your videos very much.

I love watching the builds so PLEASE keep making those and putting them in the videos

Hey, Matt! You definitely aren't the only who made little 'missions' and such when playing games! I did too!
How do you do this? I'm still confused on how to get to the Mun.
AND I'VE WATCHED TUTORIALS! THIS IS AMAZING!
I think that mini jets would be perfect to get from base to base, and maybe some sort of shuttle for the stations?

Can you link your laythe crafts? This would be very nice👍
Did he ever link the files?
Another great video bud. Loving the timelapse builds aswell. If only i could build rockets like you.
I love your Timelapses please keep doing them
I do the mini-mission thing too. Games have limits, but imagination doesn't. When the game ends, we must take over.

I can't hardly dock in orbit around Kerbin, much less land a city on another planet!
you should make a spacex rocket & recover the first stage (with the successful crew dragon test flight happening)
@Chloe C oh lol
I guess he could do one that more resembles the crew dragon, although that would be a bit repetitive
You're not a psychopath Matt, I too made missions for myself in my head as a kid! (still do actually)
Congrats on 200k Matt!

War of the worlds is an amazing book and audiobook
You should build an orbital dock module for the space station so that you can dock small ships with the little ports

i love this series, keep it going!!!
Matt you should try out a mod called beyond home. Mainly because you’re honestly doing and visuting everything in stock ksp solar system.
This is actually really good stuff.
Build a mining Rover with a small cargo rocket to act as a refueling station for the orbital bases
I love making up missions and scenarios in my mind and playing the, out in all sorts of games! Not just you!
I make lil missions in my head all the time. It's fun to make games like Just Cause 4 into a full on James Bond sort of game
I like the time lapse of u building the rocket
