Here's a selection of clips from the Hamm Diesel Motorcycle rallies of 2007 and 2008 featuring the V twin bikes that attended those events. Enjoy! www.DieselBike.net
It all depends on how you decide to mount the engine. BMW K75/100 gearboxes & cluch are used if you are planning on a shaft drive bike. Others use the old Royal Enfield box as it’s a separate & cheap. Not great for handling massive torque but ok for most bikes. Harley or Ultima boxes are heavier & more expensive. Some use snow mobile CVT’s. Hope that helps.
You could join the Dieselbike forum to ask advice on the engine? As far as sound goes some of the water cooled engines sound better. That us the way forward I think.
Hi Tristan. The bike at 3.30 in the video was built by the diesel Wiesel crew. It was a more attractive bike than their normal machines but I only ever saw that one. I guess you could contact them directly through their website? The V twin engines aren't great unless they are original Yanmars: www.dieselwiesel.de
These engines are by Punsen and are from china. They are cheap clones of Yanmars & it's probably best to buy an original rather than a copy, even if it needs some refurbishment. Another Chinese make is Winsun.
Guys what are you all using as transmission ?? A Harley gearbox ??
