you'd be surprised how fun it is to ride a diesel powered bike ,,I've built 2 of them ,,the second more recent one is powered by a 30HP yanmar turbo diesel ,3 cylinder ,,it's actually pretty zippy due to the torque ,it's got a 6 speed gearbox and is chain drive ,, i upped the final drive ratio to compensate for the relatively low revving diesel engine which only turns 3700 rpm ,i can easily get 100mph on the interstate ,,the smaller of the 2 bikes i built about 10 years ago is powered by a Kubota 2 cylinder engine 479CC 14hp and it's actually quite fun cause it's a small bike built on a honda 250 frame ,,it'll easily do a wheelie or a burnout ,,i built it with a CVT drive so it's pretty fast too ,,the big difference over the original is it gets 75mpg and it's not really loud either

@@mikesr3407 i'm a 270 pound big guy you'd be surprised at how much difference that makes in what it'll do ,,it's not nearly as fast as the honda TRX400 ATV i have which will lift the front wheels up in 4th gear if i'm a bit hard on the throttle and not leaning forward , it's a 6 speed and i have never had it going fast enough for high gear ,,according to honda it's top speed is 72mph

Diesels can't compete without boost, I could totally dig a vw turbo diesel engine on a bike or something similar, Maybe a 2cylibder boxer with similar design, spin about 4k rpm , 24:1 compression and run about 20 psi boost, in 800-1200 cc with the heads bolted on with 4, 12-15mm cross bolts that go from one head, through the crank case, to the other head, and have 4bolts or studs in the crankcase, about 10-12mm with a traditional head, jug, crank case design, with the crankcase splitting opposite to the heads, or possibly or a 45° at the main bearings, using automotive , she'll style bearings, with case being a thick webb of aluminum, incorporating the mains and heads, with about 40mm, x 60mm and approximately 50mm main and rod journals, with over head cam, operating valves and injectors similar to the Detroit diesel from ww2 and up, being a 2stroke, it will need a supercharger/scavenger, bolted between cylinders , maybe a electric started turbo can be worked out, that is started with oil pressure, so it doesn't spin the turbo without oil, use about 1kw bldc motor, spinning about 10k rpm or what ever is needed to create a air flow into the cylinders, maybe a amr500 roots blower could be used, and possibly incorporate the intake Illenium into the case, air flowing into the jug , similar to the transfers of a 2t gas engine, with about 4, 25-35, maybe 40mm valves , possibly having slightly different opening times to promote swirl in the exhaust port, use extra long valves, to get the ports running above 45° to the valve, hopefully 60° - 80° to limit restrictions. With the crank case being so thick, with the rib construction, to seal the case, make the skin thin, about 1.5-2mm , thicker in areas that requires it, like the top of the case, being the intake plenum, with a single 60mm intake port, with about 75-80mm stroke, and near 100mm bore, with the potential of being air cooled, oil cooling can be a benefit, having passages through the jug and head,to help with cooling, possibly mount a pair of cooling fans in front of each cylinder,. Depending on fueling, it could spin near 5krpm, using a old school injection system, it shouldn't weigh much more than a big Harley engine, and gear box, and should make upwards of 80-100hp, and near 200ftlb TQ, maybe in the 70-90hp, it should flow air well, especially with 20+psi boost, and maybe try a CVT with 3speed gear box, if possible , lock out the CVT, and shift the gears, or start in 2nd gear, and let the CVT do it's thing, it would probably be better to use a hydraulic coupler, or possibly a hydrostatic drive similar to a lawn tractor! Maybe just gears and clutch, 4speed, with 4th being overdrive, it would probably peak around 3500-4k rpm, plenty of TQ from 1500-3000rpm , I think a water cooled version would be worth the effort, and the radiator, still use fins on the jugs and head to help with cooling, w/ est. 100x60mm x 400mm intercooler,. But all that rambling is if I built a Diesel cycle engine, 2stroke would be the way to do it,. Sorry for all the rambling,
