What an absolutely brilliant clip. It must have been wonderful just being there and hearing one of our best ever aircraft. They don't make 'em like that anymore unfortunately.
I have a vinyl LP of live recordings of all types of aircraft--during the war. My fav is of a thundering armada of heavy Bomber's, thousands of feet up. passing overhead at night in the Norfolk countryside. Accompanying this roar, is the beautiful sound of birds whistling clearly ,nearby in a hedgerow.
Proud to be Canadian Toronto Canada Made the Lancaster, Spitfire, Mossy, and flew many mission with are brothers in arms There's only 2 Lancasters still flying today 1 in England and 1 in Canada I been in the one in Canada Awsome plane
I HAVE A VINYL LP, OF RECORDINGS, OF MOST OF THE PLANES THAT TOOK PART IN WW2., ALLIES AND GERMAN. INCLUDING START-UPS AND FLYPASTS. MY FAVOURITE IS A NIGHT-TIME FLY OVER, OF A ARMADA OF LANCASTER'S AT GREAT HEIGHT, RECORDED FROM A HEDGEROW IN NORFOLK . AMONG THE COLOSSAL HUM, IS THE SOUND OF BIRDS SINGING, BOTH BEAUTIFUL AND SCARY.
P,b, Croft, I really have no idea why I put that comment up, it was a really marvellous video, so sorry for the comment, probably had a drink , P S , get rid of the sunglasses 😉

Goosebumps all the way! I have just read Guy Gibson's autobiog and I had to keep playing this for extra atmosphere!
Fantastic how low it was flying.
Excellent, especially the diminishing thunder of the Merlins ending in birdsong!! Reminds me of a tape my dad had called Bombers and Nightingales.

Yep---I saw and touched 'VERA' when in Hamilton--just before she flew to UK in 2014. I had a good talk to some of the crew---great guys.
As dangerous as this look here, imagine doing this at night. What incredible skill and courage those young crews had!
And being fired at all the way
