I switched to MW because it is a good alternative to Zwift for my way of using it. This is riding in a number of new worlds (I know everything in Zwift already) and for workouts. I use it with an average Ipad connected to a TV and had no problems so far. Also my Polar heart rate monitor is always recognized immediately. A new pairing is only necessary if I have connected the HR monitor to any other device, like a Garmin watch, since my last MW session. I agree, the main downside at the moment is the lack of other riders on MW. This compared to the main advantage: Free of charge. The argument of sports washing, yes: If all my decisions as a consumer would consider all kind of misconducts on this planet, I would not be able to buy anything and especially no bikes and their components.
I'm super cheap when it comes to montly subscriptions. Especially for things i may only use a few/couple times a month. This is right up my alley, thanks for sharing :)
you look into the GTBike V Its a mod that allows you to use your indoor trainer to control the bike in GTA5. For a free option, its amazing and stats can be uploaded to Strava.
Same as you I have a Wattbike and recently swapped from Zwift to MyWhoosh. I train mostly for Barcelona Ironman each October so I'm quite happy training on my own; however I will say that I have noticed more people joining the group rides over the past few weeks, there are now usually a small number of humans, in addition to the bots. One correction, at around 15 mins, you point to a figure and say 'there's only 2 people' on this ride. The figure you point at is the number of laps, not the number of people on that ride :) (I made that mistake too). Another useful feature is the MyBunch, this is a ride with bots at a specific watt/kg power output, similar to Zwift's Robopacers, except in my experience it's implemented better. Again, good for my Ironman training where I want a steady power output.
I always found Swift underwhelming for the price they were asking, for them increasing the price even more shows the lack of competitive app's. It's great for us users that there are coming new apps to compete. Thanks for this review, I'm sure going to try it this winter.
Gtbike 5 is another great alternative, it requires a better computer set up but is super immersive with zwift play controllers as you can open world cycle around the whole of the gta5 map. I like to keep myself mentally engaged by attempting to get to locations by memory without the help of the map. Before I know it I've cycled 50 miles with very little mental effort to do so due to how much fun I'm having.
Hi Mike, great video, just one point. The Zwift Click and Cog doesn't work outside of the Zwift Environment. So for your gears on a normal bike with a trainer you need to use your own cassette. Not a problem with most trainers, but something to be aware of. :)
Connection issues with devices, duplicate strava uploads or no uploads, warping bots, crashes, low fps on a decent gaming rig, and unreal engine crash errors on exiting. I might return in the next big update to see if any optimizations have been made, but in all fairness, zwift just works on my end without all these issues. In my opinion, Zwift looks better, and having those extra frames makes for a smoother experience. The social side of Zwift is amazing. Oh MW really need to sort out their app also. No flames this is my own opinion
I run MW through a decent desktop, everything connects and it runs like a dream, my setup is a 2018 system running a good graphics card for the year the desktop was built, rog vega 56 pro, 16gb memory.you could pick this type of system up for £300/£400, less than 2 years Zwift subscription.
Regarding events: I was only once alone at an event (in the US). In events I joined between 6 and 130 riders took place. BTW out of the 6 riders 2 were really fast and only one couldn't really keep up - it was a good race - a bid like a group ride.
I switched to Mywhoosh months ago. I don't race and rarely group ride. It's purely a training app for me. I run it on my android and screen mirror to my tv so I'm not worried about graphics much either. In my opinion the workouts are better than Zwifts. The coaches that work for the team make them. Not only that I can create my own workouts from my phone. Which is super convenient. Can't do that on Zwift. The only issue is you can't switch off MW to another for long or it will drop out. I havent had that happen in a few months. But if I got carried away scrolling through songs to switch to it would drop out and save my workout and Id have to start it up again. That is easy to avoid though. Even though there is usually like 2 or 3k people on at a time you are right group riding and racing doesn't seem to happen much on the app. Showing the wattage for the current and next interval would be nice. I'd also say better being able to tell between a bot and an actual person too. But for a free training app it's awesome.
I use a 'normal' 3 years old iPAD air for My Whoosh and it runs w/o any issues. Only once the App restarted, but my ride continued where it crashed - so no big problem. I have a pretty good WiFi Mesh network and a fiber optic link - I think this helps I guess.
The color of the line on the segment you are doing is showing also the color of the next. So that’s how it’s supposed to show how hard the next interval is. I only ride inside 1-2 times per week so I have just dropped Zwift and only use MyWhoosh on my iPad 10 now. Zwift is too expensive for my needs. Been using MW for over a year. First it was totally empty. More people now. I think it’s more popular in South America and Asia so more people are on it outside typical European time.
I would like to know your feedback on how realistic the pedaling sensation is, especially when climbing. I've always had the feeling that it penalizes the rider's weight excessively. Thanks for the video.
MyWhoosh works perfectly for me on Apple TV 4K. I had a family membership for my daughter and myself on Zwift and had constant problems with her set up. Both of us have no issues using MyWhoosh. The graphics are better and more routes are being added all the time. Where it fails is with the lack of auto descent with my Tacx turbo and the lack of upload to Garmin connect as the fit file numbers are never correct.
@ child under certain age can have a free membership connected to a parent but, it has to be renewed periodically. Think it was every twelve months and my daughter’s achievements dropped off with each renewal.
with an RTX4070 I wouldn't call this midtiered gaming PC, it may be the mid-tiered NVidia graphics card but in the market you are pretty near the top for gaming graphics.
You are right, and I don't even know why this slipped through! In the racing video I did I check correctly, tbh I should have realised in this as no mywhoosh race would have 3 people signed up so far ahead 🤣
You have misunderstood the "sign up" with the amount of laps logo. You have to click on the actual ride/race to see how many people have signed up. Tho' I doesn't change your point. To few people are joining the races.
Nice Video. BUT 30 FPS. On a 1500gbp gaming PC. It's a slideshow. I don't care how pretty it looks - it's not a smooth experience at all. Both Zwift and Training Peaks Virtual are smoother visually - and for me that's a deal breaker. It's really not hard for the Devs to target 60fps.
I stopped using MW because my char stopped earning xp. I dont know why 😀I made a second account and same experience but at a higher level. I am not sure if when you have more than 50k coins you stop earning xp. It's not a big issue but I want that all features works
Not sure you can hike the price up from free. Start charging maybe. I did try installing on my IPad but it wouldn’t have left much space for anything else

I'm on an 2024 M4 iPad Pro and MyWhoosh looks just amazing. The graphics are miles and miles better. I've been using Zwift for a long time and in comparison it looks really outdated. If you are running Zwift on a desktop Mac then it's somewhat ok. iOS on the other hand is just a pure insult to the eyes. Although, Zwift promised to make the graphics better for the M-Series of iOS devices it sill looks terrible. MyWhoosh smokes Zwift out of the window while running on an M4 iPad Pro . Not even close. I also own a workstation PC with a 4090 and it's really, really immersive, especially, with its additional 20gb+ of texture files and all the displacement and detail but I'd rather use an iPad with its 30w power draw instead. MW looks weird on Apple Tv and had many connections problems with my phone to get trainer, HR to connect. Game seems very "tunnel" like and not open world like zwift. MW game menu is bad with the appel remote, MW is also very clustered with signs mm in-game, almost no one online and it's impossible to see who's a bot and a real person.
Two things kill it for me vs Zwift. 1: The stuttering. I also have a high-end PC too and experience the same. It's so distracting. 2: There is no sense of speed, no matter how fast you are going, and because of that it just feels so boring. Fix those, and I'm all in.
so for me my trainer bike basically after years of punishment broke. So either I brought a cheap steel one for 700 or so and need to maintain or do I use the Zwift bike, and as I type I am awaiting the Zwift bike !! I used Mywhoosh, Indie, Rouvy, Bkool etc and eventually get bored of them. However always come back to zwift I guess and now tied in for app bar any structured workouts I could use another. in context Mywhoosh is free of course but it is very limited as compared to others I found plus ethical concerns over who backs it.
I guess the main reason there is no cost is because it's made possible by UAE nation state. Money is no object. On a few points, Zwift has improved both the climb profile and also the mini map recently. No harm in seeing the alternatives though. Nice vid
Terrible graphics. I have top of the line gaming PC and it lags, speeds seem unreal, and the racing is just meh. Back to Zwift. For $20, I mean, c'mon gym memberships are five times that and people spend more on Netflix to sit around and get fat. Horses for courses, of course.
i like the idea of a free app however i personally find their graphics underwhelming- if it’s a game i want my avatar not to attempt looking like a real human it kills the balance and makes it difficult for me to enjoy the ride
Don't forget that once you opt in for MW terms and conditions for using the platform, guess who ownes your data. GDPR? LOL. And it's not free, we pay everyday in the form of overpriced oil.
At least in Europe it's laws against government backed companies competing in the open market, but MW flies under the radar. Even if you mainly copy others innovations, it still cost money. Free service won't give much revenue to pay the bills
What about all the child exploitation going in the world right now, lithium extraction labour camps and sweat shops the West so depends on. So apparently disguised human rights violations is OK.
@@EssKayTee1 when you mentioned questionable human rights record ( i mean guantanano and waterboarding did happen amongst many other things USA leaders refused to answer for ) let's not forget illegal war that has killed milions , I'd call that a human rights record to not be illegally invaded and have your country raped and destroyed by a foreign illegal power. And most important lets not forget the American company Nike who has supported drug programmes and cheaters as well as abusing athletes as slaves. Those living in glass houses should shut the fuck up about other nations.
Myself and my ancestors faced unfair equal rights in the USA. I live on an island now filled with immigrants that are here because the USA nuked them soooo…

Switched to MyWhoosh a few weeks back. Solid! Great UI and as I train alone, perfect for my needs. And it’s free!
Always good to have competition. I really enjoy the group riding in Zwift and even the group workouts. For that I don’t see me leaving Zwift.

I use a Samsung Tablet S5 and never had any problems!

I went back to zwift as it just works...I had multiple issues with MW and I ended up pulling the pin.

Thanks, when you talked about editing workouts, I thought cit would let you edit duration and whole workout would be modified proportionately.

Nice review Mike I did download it as I liked the look of the graphics however I quickly discovered it doesn’t support all Apple TV generations.
That's a shame, I've been super impressed but as said I have the luxury of a powerful PC to run it! You could maybe use a phone to give it a try?

The worlds look great, there's something about the rider avatar that's a bit uncanny valley though. maybe I'm just too used to the Zwift avatars.

I was zwift then went to mw and now im back to zwift just cause i need racing and every race i found on mw had 2 people in it.

Why is myWoosh lagging so much, Ryzen 7 7700x and Rtx 4070 cannot run it?
It is probably using the CPU for graphics instead of your GPU. It is what happened to me on my AMD.

I think it looks better than Zwift, don’t have any issues using iPhone 15pro and it always remembers my heart rate monitor.
