There was probably a time where he really cared about the server and only wanted the best for the server, but as you can see he's clearly thrown all that out the window. I like how Dream stands in the left side of the screen and Techno on the right like they complete each other dark and light, two warriors and only one SMP.... in constant motion like the yin and the yang they represent the two spiritual sides of the story
they aren’t going to be on the same side for long. they are two sides of the same coin. both of them them are powerful and smart but they want very different things. dream pretends to be nice when he’s actually manipulative and merciless while techno pretends to be evil and bloodthirsty but he really just wants freedom and he truly cares about others like phil and ghostbur. dream wants to control others and so i think that even tho they have worked together they will end up fighting because they want very different things.

“Power is my best friend” takes a double meaning because George is the king of the SMP EDIT: clarification because I’ve finally figured out what the king means (at least what it means right now at new year’s, it could change) George got his kingly power from Dream. And that divine right allows the king to act outside of Dreams ruling. Theoretically the king has unlimited power as long as they Listen to dream. That’s the key point! Dream is the puppet master of the kingship, manipulating whoever he chooses to rule to “be his friend” but at the Same time the king could oppose dream. If Eret decided tomorrow to tell everyone under his rule to fight dream most would probably listen to the king! Dreams magic is allowing this freedom because it’s just enough to have those he appoints to think they rule! As long as a king respects Dream they are rewarded. Eret and George both benefited tremendously from Kingship. Basically having free reign to do whatever because dream knows they won’t step out of line. Put simply the King of the SMP is given power through the friendship between Dream and whoever the king is. Dream trusts a king to be the equal to the commons and the equal to him. Dreams only going to appoint king’s who will trust him. Because they know if they commit a error they have to leave.
Not that the king actually means anything. He is in power given by Dream, and kept by the axe and shield (or for a more accurate metaphor to minecraft combat, the crystal and totem). And George is in power *because* its Dream's friend... So could we say it has triple, as well as no meaning?
Ikr, its like he knows things about ppl that the ppl dont even know about themselves, he's always watching over everything and everybody yet no one can see him, he truly is a very carefully constructed puppet master
I always knew Dream was the true villain of this story, most people did to but no one showed that he was. Maybe in settle ways yes but no one truely represented Dream as the true villain. But it was mostly because dream didn't make it seem like he was the true villain until November 16th, 2020. That's when he showed what he could do and how he could do it, he after all is the God of the server technically making everyone scared of him because with one command everyone is dead. But anyway Dream ultimately is the true villain a puppet master controlling everyone even though they don't know it just yet.

Heres what inpicture when listening to this song: A beautiful, large ballroom with a diamond chandelier. Its empty; except for two things; a small table with a chess board with chess pieces, and Dream. Dream, with his cracked mask arranges the chess peices to how he likes. However the chess pieces arent regular; they're all the characters of the SMP. As the chorus of the song starts, Dream begins to dance to it. Dancing alone. But then, after the lyrics "Power is my bestfriend" three giant Marionettes appear. First they are limp but then begin to dance with Dream. The three Marionettes are: Wilbur,Techno, and Schlatt. They dance in perfect sync. The marionettes' heads are still limp. As the chorus dies down the Marionettes dissapeared and Dream goes back to the chess board. He laughs as he takes his own character and uses it to knock over another piece: Eret. Hes been dethroned. The chorus starts again and Dream goes back to the center of the Ballroom. He dances with a smirk. Again, the Marionettes appear. However, Wilbur and Schlatt stay limp. Totally motionless, they're strings never move. But, Technoblade still dances with Dream in perfect sync. Again, the chorus dies down and Dream returns to the chess board. Now that Manburg has been blown up, he takes the chess board, along with the peices and and throws it across the room with a evil grin. Again, the chorus. He dances along with Techno while the other two dissapear, getting replaced with Tubbo and Tommy. . . With a devilish laugh Dream summons a netherite axe. Behind him, the giant Marionette Technoblade does the same thing however his head is still lowered. At the line "Hatchet buried in their grave" Dream swings the ace at the "camera" and the giant technoblade does the same. After the song ends you can still hear Dream laugh as the Marionette Technoblade disappears behind him, Tubbo and Tommy lift their heads up, as they are now being controlled by Dream aswell. They dissapear, too. Dream settles his axe on his shoulder and exits the room with a devilish grin. Leaving the room empty and dead silent. The chess peices are scattered everywhere and the board is cracked in half. And that's where my scene cuts off. I do think Tommy did something unexpected that backed Dream into a corner, but I don't think it is over yet. Most people seem to think that Quackity has power over Dream now, but I think he was faking being afraid.
I feel like Dream is actually a really sad character. He just wanted to make a server where there was peace and people could do what they wanted, then people started wars and seceded from his SMP, when he declared war on L'manburg he just wanted his land back and for the SMP to be whole and peaceful. Then when Tommy gave the disks back and he had leverage, he thought that L'manburg would be peaceful, but it resulted in nothing but wars and turmoil in the server. By this point Dream may have wanted gone. It had resulted in nothing but turmoil and he hated it, it ruined his plan and consumed his server, but like the careful and calculated puppet master he is, he didn't let it show, rather manipulated behind the scenes to see it gone. When he found that Wilbur wanted it gone too, he seized on the moment. He may be a schemer and villain, but he has a sad motive.
I agree with this a lot, actually. Dream may be playing the part as a villain, but I believe his true end goal is to fix what has been broken. He started this server with the intentions of bringing friends together only to have it shatter by a drug cartel that would turn around and try to become its own server. Perhaps killing those he cares about over and over again has forced into light the side of himself he never wanted to use, and perhaps that sadistic persona is slowly erasing his original goals of peace. Maybe he's aware of it too. Maybe the rush of adrenaline given to him by bloodlust and the sheer, undeniable desire for chaos and destruction is _addictive._ Maybe because of this, he's incapable of saving himself from himself. Perhaps no one will ever know about his internal and silent suffering because he's too proud and reclusive to let it show. Or maybe he doesn't know. Maybe he's slowly being consumed by his own darkness, drowning in it. Corrupted by it. And maybe no one will ever notice the agonizing corrosion in his once pure beliefs, *because everyone already sees him as the villain.*
I actually can see this being the whole reason why he is taking on what seems to be the villain role. He just wants to bring his friends back together but L’Manburg keeps tearing them apart. I’m sure he felt really betrayed when Eret said he was going to fight on Pogtopia’s side rather than stay neutral and let everything go back to being Dream SMP.
I have to agree..but since the disc war started trending willbur decide to make a story about the dream team vs lmanburg... Which dream have a very genius idea that nobody know he's on the caous team which he is so good at acting and keeping he's own secret.. This is why dream my favourite character

First og song about Dream, you nailed it. Power, influence, manipulation, charm, chaos, it's all there. The music isn't generally my personal taste, but you really make it work and it goes great with the lyrics and general tone of the song. As opposed to the pouplar idea that Dream is extremely indescisive and constantly switches sides, you made him sound very stable and like he's been the same character all along, which I really like. His manipulation and deceit never stops, and he never changes. Like you said, he's not on anyone's side and never has been. He just pulls whatever strings are necessary. And- can I just say- this is _beautiful._ Your voice never ceases to amaze me and it seems like it's made for this melody. Soft and almost hypnotic. Just adds to the vibe of the song. And was that a bass clarinet in there? As someone learning clarinet, that stood out to me. Overall, this is incredible.

Ah This feels like a sister piece to techno's ngl. Especially with techno's white background with him looking to the left while dream and his black background looks to the right
Heres how I envision this scene: Dream re-enters a dark, room with a candle lit chandelier, a shadow, seeing the events of his chess game play out in front of him.(see a top comment where they envision the chorus).At the point where he dethrones Eret, he comes out from the shadows, a grin on his face with his cracked mask, his netherite axe resting on his shoulder. He look at eret and says the first verse, and takes his seat and Eret walks to his feet. The camera then cuts back to eret after he exited the frame to see him bowing, however his head is up. The lyrics “darling bow to me” then play out dream lifting his hand and using three fingers, moves his hand downwards, taking erets head with it, making him properly bow. It then shows the camera zooming out to see the rest of manburg bowing while sapnap and George are lined up againt the wall behind him, in armor and weapons in hand, ready to attack anyone who goes against dreams word. @@999-n6j you see, the techno theme had a white background and techno was placed on the right while in here there's a black background and dream is placed on the left side. the font used is also different, in techno's it's so polite and elegant while in here is simple and hand-drawn. and atm i haven't payed that much attention to the lyrics but listening to the melody you can notice in techno's theme is like it's portraying some chaotic evil villain using epic chores and a lot of drums as support (percussion instrument that should bring you motivation and create a tensed atmosphere) while in here everything is so calm and soft and at the same time so menacing and cold-blooded calculated. it's also using a piano/xylophone as support (instruments which should bring you comfort and peace) very well done if you ask me.

YES!! The tittle can't be any more fitting. If we follow the story of the Dream SMP, Dream had 3 puppets so far. The first one was Eret, as he was used to take down L'manberg. The second was Jschlatt, as Dream let his tyranny go unchecked to force out the hiding POG Topia. And the third was Wilbur, the one who end it all. Technoblade was actually half a puppet. His hatred for government was used to destroy his biggest hope of overthrowing the Dream SMP, which is also a government as they have a king. Technoblade destroying POG Topia and L'manberg was actually a huge blunder of him in my opinion. Because it was the only thing that stands against the Dream SMP. Then again Technoblade may be just strong enough to do that as a single entity... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! Really happy to see this song getting premiered! Thank you!
I still think they missed a massive opportunity to unite the server into two factions again. Maybe after overthrowing Pogtopia, Techno and Philza set thier sights on destroying DreamSMP aswell. Which leads Pog and DreamSMP into realizing they need to team up if they want to survive them.
The line "Chaos is my lover" can signify how carefully he had to court Technoblade over to ally with him, as Techno is properly suspicious of the motives of anyone trying to hire him. Just my opinion, but I love the interpretation that even the literal deity of the server has to be careful not to make an enemy of Techno. An example of this is when he was threatening death to anyone who touched George, but just let Techno get away with killing him.
A chess master. Dream is a chess master, the king that can only move one step at a time and has to be careful. Would George be the queen? The sacrifice he had to make to keep the game going?

He knows Techno's beliefs and Techno's thought processes and before the destruction of Manburg and during the speeches of Tommy, Wilbur, and Tubbo, you can see Dream calling Techno to act, to create chaos, saying things such as "I never thought I'd see you bow to Tommyinnit" and "I thought you were anti-government" because he knows how to urge him into action, and when it came down to it, he did just as Dream had wanted him to without even truly realising it.

I love how their are two ways people can see dream, a villian or a misguided hero. While we do have a protagonist, their are no real heros or villains in the dream smp just people trying too do what they think is best even if misguided. You could argue almost any character being a hero or villain at any point. Wilbur while mad was still trying too do what he thought was right for l'manberg. Then again l'manberg was his creation and it wouldn't have been made if he didn't try too sell drugs. Technoblade his afraid of goverment corrupting people and putting others down, but he is an agent of chaos and the damage he caused may out weigh the right he was trying too bring Tommy is struggleing too figure out what is right and wrong believeing in his freinds. But in a way all of this is his fault. Dream is a mastermind who tore l'manberg down or, he is a god who saw the deviance l'manbergs existence would and did cause Shlatt is a curropt polititon or he is a leader chosin by the people and tried too do what is best for his country
Blue and schlatt did better the country he made decorations to lmanberg hosted a festival with lots of mini games but got canceled due to treesome and keep in mind it was tubbos will to decide to risk his life or be with sclatt and people say that Sclatt was evil for this reason?

I never thought of dream as a misguided hero or a villain. I only thought of him as a man who was mad, yet in a beautiful way. The way I see it, there are two types of madness. The type that has no logic behind it, and the type that does. The ones that do have a reason behind it captivate me. It's just so amazingly intriguing! So exciting! So perfect! And I love it. I love that kind of madness. I loved it when Wilbur went insane. I loved it when Dream strived for destruction. I loved it when Bad planned to keep the conflict going. I just love it!
The fact that dreams background is dark could be symbolism of him being very sinister and untrustworthy..... And Technoblades background is light to symbolises he isn't the bad guy of the story... Or I'm just over thinking this.

Dream is most likely using ranboo and tommy Rn:ranboo being his marionette while tommy is stuck in prison with him, giving him more trauma... He's most likely to use techno's favor after he escaped prison. At the time being while dream would be out of prison he would already have a plan to destroy the egg and take control back over everybody While in his secret base with everybody else he could have possibly tower up and leave or just murder tubbo and then leave.. But no je chose to stay it was all part of his masterplan
This song is so amazing! It has a dangerously seductive and tantalizing tone that draws people in which really matches the character. Everyone on the server knows that Dream is dangerous however his deals and actions tempt other in believing that he’s friendly or is helping. It basically feels like a deal with the devil, very promising and tempting but more than likely has a dangerous consequence. Basically what I’m saying is that this song is beautiful in a every single way and I’ll be listening to it on repeat for at least the next week

EDIT: clarification because I’ve finally figured out what the king means (at least what it means right now at new year’s, it could change)
George got his kingly power from Dream. And that divine right allows the king to act outside of Dreams ruling. Theoretically the king has unlimited power as long as they Listen to dream. That’s the key point! Dream is the puppet master of the kingship, manipulating whoever he chooses to rule to “be his friend” but at the Same time the king could oppose dream. If Eret decided tomorrow to tell everyone under his rule to fight dream most would probably listen to the king! Dreams magic is allowing this freedom because it’s just enough to have those he appoints to think they rule! As long as a king respects Dream they are rewarded. Eret and George both benefited tremendously from Kingship. Basically having free reign to do whatever because dream knows they won’t step out of line.
Put simply the King of the SMP is given power through the friendship between Dream and whoever the king is. Dream trusts a king to be the equal to the commons and the equal to him. Dreams only going to appoint king’s who will trust him. Because they know if they commit a error they have to leave.

I always knew Dream was the true villain of this story, most people did to but no one showed that he was. Maybe in settle ways yes but no one truely represented Dream as the true villain. But it was mostly because dream didn't make it seem like he was the true villain until November 16th, 2020. That's when he showed what he could do and how he could do it, he after all is the God of the server technically making everyone scared of him because with one command everyone is dead. But anyway Dream ultimately is the true villain a puppet master controlling everyone even though they don't know it just yet.

Heres what inpicture when listening to this song:
A beautiful, large ballroom with a diamond chandelier. Its empty; except for two things; a small table with a chess board with chess pieces, and Dream.
Dream, with his cracked mask arranges the chess peices to how he likes. However the chess pieces arent regular; they're all the characters of the SMP.
As the chorus of the song starts, Dream begins to dance to it. Dancing alone. But then, after the lyrics "Power is my bestfriend" three giant Marionettes appear. First they are limp but then begin to dance with Dream. The three Marionettes are: Wilbur,Techno, and Schlatt. They dance in perfect sync. The marionettes' heads are still limp.
As the chorus dies down the Marionettes dissapeared and Dream goes back to the chess board. He laughs as he takes his own character and uses it to knock over another piece: Eret. Hes been dethroned.
The chorus starts again and Dream goes back to the center of the Ballroom. He dances with a smirk. Again, the Marionettes appear. However, Wilbur and Schlatt stay limp. Totally motionless, they're strings never move. But, Technoblade still dances with Dream in perfect sync.
Again, the chorus dies down and Dream returns to the chess board. Now that Manburg has been blown up, he takes the chess board, along with the peices and and throws it across the room with a evil grin.
Again, the chorus. He dances along with Techno while the other two dissapear, getting replaced with Tubbo and Tommy. . . With a devilish laugh Dream summons a netherite axe. Behind him, the giant Marionette Technoblade does the same thing however his head is still lowered. At the line "Hatchet buried in their grave" Dream swings the ace at the "camera" and the giant technoblade does the same. After the song ends you can still hear Dream laugh as the Marionette Technoblade disappears behind him, Tubbo and Tommy lift their heads up, as they are now being controlled by Dream aswell. They dissapear, too.
Dream settles his axe on his shoulder and exits the room with a devilish grin. Leaving the room empty and dead silent. The chess peices are scattered everywhere and the board is cracked in half. And that's where my scene cuts off.

I do think Tommy did something unexpected that backed Dream into a corner, but I don't think it is over yet. Most people seem to think that Quackity has power over Dream now, but I think he was faking being afraid.
Ah... If only things were as simple now as back then...
I feel like Dream is actually a really sad character. He just wanted to make a server where there was peace and people could do what they wanted, then people started wars and seceded from his SMP, when he declared war on L'manburg he just wanted his land back and for the SMP to be whole and peaceful. Then when Tommy gave the disks back and he had leverage, he thought that L'manburg would be peaceful, but it resulted in nothing but wars and turmoil in the server.
By this point Dream may have wanted gone. It had resulted in nothing but turmoil and he hated it, it ruined his plan and consumed his server, but like the careful and calculated puppet master he is, he didn't let it show, rather manipulated behind the scenes to see it gone. When he found that Wilbur wanted it gone too, he seized on the moment.
He may be a schemer and villain, but he has a sad motive.
I agree with this a lot, actually.
Dream may be playing the part as a villain, but I believe his true end goal is to fix what has been broken. He started this server with the intentions of bringing friends together only to have it shatter by a drug cartel that would turn around and try to become its own server.
Perhaps killing those he cares about over and over again has forced into light the side of himself he never wanted to use, and perhaps that sadistic persona is slowly erasing his original goals of peace.
Maybe he's aware of it too. Maybe the rush of adrenaline given to him by bloodlust and the sheer, undeniable desire for chaos and destruction is _addictive._ Maybe because of this, he's incapable of saving himself from himself.
Perhaps no one will ever know about his internal and silent suffering because he's too proud and reclusive to let it show.
Or maybe he doesn't know. Maybe he's slowly being consumed by his own darkness, drowning in it. Corrupted by it.
And maybe no one will ever notice the agonizing corrosion in his once pure beliefs,
*because everyone already sees him as the villain.*
I actually can see this being the whole reason why he is taking on what seems to be the villain role. He just wants to bring his friends back together but L’Manburg keeps tearing them apart. I’m sure he felt really betrayed when Eret said he was going to fight on Pogtopia’s side rather than stay neutral and let everything go back to being Dream SMP.

First og song about Dream, you nailed it. Power, influence, manipulation, charm, chaos, it's all there. The music isn't generally my personal taste, but you really make it work and it goes great with the lyrics and general tone of the song. As opposed to the pouplar idea that Dream is extremely indescisive and constantly switches sides, you made him sound very stable and like he's been the same character all along, which I really like. His manipulation and deceit never stops, and he never changes. Like you said, he's not on anyone's side and never has been. He just pulls whatever strings are necessary.
And- can I just say- this is _beautiful._ Your voice never ceases to amaze me and it seems like it's made for this melody. Soft and almost hypnotic. Just adds to the vibe of the song. And was that a bass clarinet in there? As someone learning clarinet, that stood out to me. Overall, this is incredible.

Heres how I envision this scene:
Dream re-enters a dark, room with a candle lit chandelier, a shadow, seeing the events of his chess game play out in front of him.(see a top comment where they envision the chorus).At the point where he dethrones Eret, he comes out from the shadows, a grin on his face with his cracked mask, his netherite axe resting on his shoulder. He look at eret and says the first verse, and takes his seat and Eret walks to his feet. The camera then cuts back to eret after he exited the frame to see him bowing, however his head is up. The lyrics “darling bow to me” then play out dream lifting his hand and using three fingers, moves his hand downwards, taking erets head with it, making him properly bow. It then shows the camera zooming out to see the rest of manburg bowing while sapnap and George are lined up againt the wall behind him, in armor and weapons in hand, ready to attack anyone who goes against dreams word.

@@999-n6j you see, the techno theme had a white background and techno was placed on the right while in here there's a black background and dream is placed on the left side. the font used is also different, in techno's it's so polite and elegant while in here is simple and hand-drawn. and atm i haven't payed that much attention to the lyrics but listening to the melody you can notice in techno's theme is like it's portraying some chaotic evil villain using epic chores and a lot of drums as support (percussion instrument that should bring you motivation and create a tensed atmosphere) while in here everything is so calm and soft and at the same time so menacing and cold-blooded calculated. it's also using a piano/xylophone as support (instruments which should bring you comfort and peace) very well done if you ask me.

If we follow the story of the Dream SMP, Dream had 3 puppets so far.
The first one was Eret, as he was used to take down L'manberg.
The second was Jschlatt, as Dream let his tyranny go unchecked to force out the hiding POG Topia.
And the third was Wilbur, the one who end it all.
Technoblade was actually half a puppet. His hatred for government was used to destroy his biggest hope of overthrowing the Dream SMP, which is also a government as they have a king. Technoblade destroying POG Topia and L'manberg was actually a huge blunder of him in my opinion. Because it was the only thing that stands against the Dream SMP.
Then again Technoblade may be just strong enough to do that as a single entity... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

I still think they missed a massive opportunity to unite the server into two factions again. Maybe after overthrowing Pogtopia, Techno and Philza set thier sights on destroying DreamSMP aswell. Which leads Pog and DreamSMP into realizing they need to team up if they want to survive them.

The line "Chaos is my lover" can signify how carefully he had to court Technoblade over to ally with him, as Techno is properly suspicious of the motives of anyone trying to hire him. Just my opinion, but I love the interpretation that even the literal deity of the server has to be careful not to make an enemy of Techno. An example of this is when he was threatening death to anyone who touched George, but just let Techno get away with killing him.
Yea it really shows how Technoblade is a force of nature and in his own right could beat anybody, but dream is always the puppeteer.

He knows Techno's beliefs and Techno's thought processes and before the destruction of Manburg and during the speeches of Tommy, Wilbur, and Tubbo, you can see Dream calling Techno to act, to create chaos, saying things such as "I never thought I'd see you bow to Tommyinnit" and "I thought you were anti-government" because he knows how to urge him into action, and when it came down to it, he did just as Dream had wanted him to without even truly realising it.

I love how their are two ways people can see dream, a villian or a misguided hero.
While we do have a protagonist, their are no real heros or villains in the dream smp just people trying too do what they think is best even if misguided. You could argue almost any character being a hero or villain at any point. Wilbur while mad was still trying too do what he thought was right for l'manberg. Then again l'manberg was his creation and it wouldn't have been made if he didn't try too sell drugs.
Technoblade his afraid of goverment corrupting people and putting others down, but he is an agent of chaos and the damage he caused may out weigh the right he was trying too bring
Tommy is struggleing too figure out what is right and wrong believeing in his freinds. But in a way all of this is his fault.
Dream is a mastermind who tore l'manberg down or, he is a god who saw the deviance l'manbergs existence would and did cause
Shlatt is a curropt polititon or he is a leader chosin by the people and tried too do what is best for his country

I never thought of dream as a misguided hero or a villain. I only thought of him as a man who was mad, yet in a beautiful way. The way I see it, there are two types of madness. The type that has no logic behind it, and the type that does. The ones that do have a reason behind it captivate me. It's just so amazingly intriguing! So exciting! So perfect! And I love it. I love that kind of madness. I loved it when Wilbur went insane. I loved it when Dream strived for destruction. I loved it when Bad planned to keep the conflict going. I just love it!
The fact that dreams background is dark could be symbolism of him being very sinister and untrustworthy.....
And Technoblades background is light to symbolises he isn't the bad guy of the story...

At the time being while dream would be out of prison he would already have a plan to destroy the egg and take control back over everybody
While in his secret base with everybody else he could have possibly tower up and leave or just murder tubbo and then leave.. But no je chose to stay it was all part of his masterplan

This song is so amazing! It has a dangerously seductive and tantalizing tone that draws people in which really matches the character. Everyone on the server knows that Dream is dangerous however his deals and actions tempt other in believing that he’s friendly or is helping. It basically feels like a deal with the devil, very promising and tempting but more than likely has a dangerous consequence. Basically what I’m saying is that this song is beautiful in a every single way and I’ll be listening to it on repeat for at least the next week
