    Scandinavia is calling, where were you when the Vikings subdued... Gotta love them pipes and drums!

      Or the Celts more likely - as bagpipes actually are a Celtic thing, as another of their songs rightly points out they were the 'pipes of war' and were used during war to signal across great distances and over the sound of a battle. Used in Britiain by the Scottish, Irish and Welsh - but famously by the Scottish Celts in their many wars with the Anglo saxons and the English.
      I'm unaware of bagpipes specifically being used by Vikings and although I'm Welsh and Irish and live in Wales - I have viking heritage and ancestors from Denmark and Norway going back to the viking age which I heavily explore and learn about as I'm fascinated that such a brutal bloodline lead to me being hear in Britain in the 21st century when my ancestors so willingly and wantingly ran towards danger, war and almost certain death in the hope of reaching Valhalla. Also reading about badass explorers and warriors and knowing you are descended from such ilk is pretty damn cool lol. If I could had to be dropped into any point in history before modern advancements or the industrial revution it would be the 900's in Denmark or Norway, part of my heart almost feels like I belong their weirdly lol. I know it would be even more eye opening to be in acient Egypt or something which would explain ancient civilisations, its the Viking life that calls to me.

      Though I shall look into whether they were adopted by the Vikings and if not whether there was an alternative they used like the bagpipes.

      @@NigelOdinson of course, my bad, and also the Vikings as we call it from scandinaiva must hava traded with the Celts! heck we share some of the same Idolatory beliefs kinda? himy if u wanna discuss :P

      @@fr0zty86 ohhh I'm certain they would have traded musical instruments as they had so much in common. I am actually a Norse-Gael or Norse-Celt as my heritage is from Norway, Denmark, Wales and Ireland... Wales and Ireland being the celtic side obviously lol. I love how the symbology and art of both cultures is almost interchangeable because they are so alike and mean the same things. The folklore is also very very similar.
      Both being pagan religions it makes sense that they got on naturally due to how much they had in common. I love the whole subject and history of this area of the world and I'm lucky to live I the hills and mountains of Wales where we have many Norse and Celtic Burial grounds and standing stones all over the country. Just a 5 minute walk up the mountain behind my house is a stone circle which used to have the valknut on it but has worn away mostly and also the celtic cross and tree of life/yggdrasil.
      Where abouts are you from? I'm 30, male and like I mentioned live in Wales UK.

    That was good. As a Scotsman my only question is - where are all the Scottish folk metal bands. We should have loads but I don't know of any.

    • @groovedohg
      @groovedohg 4 года назад

      Are the band actually Scottish? I enjoyed the beginning with the bagpipes, heavy rolling drums and chugging bass, but I got turned off by the vocals. If this was the 80s, I could probably handle it I remember seeing a Bloke play ACDC songs with Bagpipes on Austealuas got talent, and it was brilliant. I also agree about the Scottish folk bit I live in Ireland, and there is a band called the Scratch. They play Trad Irish metal folk with acoustic guitars it's more original

      @@dervaumann1 There are many argentines of scot descent; not only through migration in the 19 Century but also when the Brits invaded continental Argentina, hundreds of scottish soldiers decided to desert and stay on the shores of the River Plate after the blatant defeat of the imperial troops....
      A hint of that here at Tartan Day Parade in the Old City Center of Buenos Ayres:
