      I use a high torque 1/2” at work for industrial fasteners

      How to Automotive I think I will go with the mid torque 1/2” friction ring. I have a ct761 14.4v 3/8 that comes out of my box for pretty much every single job. I absolutely love it. Then I have my mg725 air gun. I think the mid torque is the perfect one I need. If I need, anything more I’ll use air. I think the mid torque will be a good size and very useful. Great review! I was told by a Milwaukee rep at a tool show that the lid torque is really designed for automotive work. If you are working on heavy trucks or driving long lags into pilings or something then you should get the high torque, but the mid torque will generally handle any automotive application. For light duty stuff I personally prefer the m12 fuel impact wrench, but that's another whole battery platform. Great video, I can't wait to get my mid torque impact!

    awesome video. I am a DIY mechanic. Honestly the midtorque 1/2" and 3/8" are the ones to get. The high torque is very strong, but incredibly heavy and bulky. the midtorque is the best value in my opinion.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  7 лет назад +10

      Bigchuck678 I think you're spot on with the Mid Torque. There is a new high torque coming out soon that are supposed to be smaller in size and 300 foot pounds more torque.

      I work in a diesel mechanic shop, and I think the High Torque would work well here. I do agree that for a DIYer the other two are perfect. The High Torque seems like it'd be way too much for the average person.

      @@HowtoAutomotive The mid-torque looks to be the one I'm most likely to need. I'm buying it primarily to work on suspension(and of course lugnuts). I saw in your video that the smaller one didn't really have enough power to get some of the suspension parts apart. I'm floored that electric battery powered impact guns have this amount of power. I was pricing out comparable air tank systems and it seems like they cost about twice as much for the same amount of power. I also really liked in the video that you gave so many different examples, so we viewers would know which would fit what situation. I'm very excited to get one of these, just gotta convince the significant other that its necessary. : )

    I am getting ready to upgrade my pnumatic CH 250 Impact gun to a cordless impact because it is just struggling to even remove lugnuts now. Darn thing is over 20 years old now. I have more than got my money's worth out of it. My truck is slightly older than my impact gun so you can imagine the amount of rusted bolts I have to deal with on a regular basis.

    The whole M18/ Fuel family are killer tools. I got the high torque and I mainly got it for wheels and suspension stuff for DIY but I also work on a farm where the bigger model is needed and makes changing knives in our hay mower much easier since that has to be done every few hundred acres, as well as working on tractors and the HD trucks. I've even got the 7 1/4in fuel circular saw and it's on par with a corded unit as far as power goes!

    I think I got the biggest one they make, the M18 with 1800nm break away torque well it smashes the bolts off no trouble at all! I can’t believe I went this long without one 😂 they are amazing. The first job I used it on was the front brakes on my Volvo as the calliper carrier bolts are high torque are were rusty so I couldn’t be bothered trying to undo the in by hand! Best £330 Ive spend on a tool and I haven’t looked back!

    Great video!! I just upgraded my shop to all 3 of these guns.. and I also got the M12 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets as well as I was tired of a noisy compressor hoses scattered everywhere for what a high capacity compressor would have cost these guns are a sound upgrade and they are mobile for traveling to junkyards/salvage yards I still carry a breaker bar/with cheater bar but so far rarely needed. I did do some interesting torque tests.. so far I haven’t had a project that’s required a battery recharge mid project I do have 5 batteries of different sizes of batteries just for gun weight issues was super useful on exhaust pipe removal and muffler install these are must have tools for anyone who is either a novice or a professional if your tired of noisy compressors and air hoses and or electrical cords scattered everywhere then the Milwaukee line is for you!!

    I was considering getting the High Torque but after watching what you were able to do with the 1/2 Mid-torque it looks like that fits me to the T. Now, all my tools are M12 so that means, tool, charger and battery. Oh well. Looks like a set of 1/2 shallow impact sockets needs to be in there as well for the tight spaces. Great video. Very helpful.

    Good Sir I thank you for this video. I’m a novice DYI-r who was unsure of what impact tool was best for me. I was infatuated with the high power although I knew It was probably overkill. I’m going for the mid range Milwaukee, as it offers the best of both power and versatility.

    Just the video I've been looking for. I was debating over the Mid and High torque. Will get the Mid torque due to size and weight. Went to home depot today and tested the High torque....man it's heavy. Also, since I will only use it for diy brakes the mid is perfect. Thanks again for the vid.

    I own all 3 and love my 3/8 and mid torque. When it it comes to the high torque, I love owning it but honestly I'm not in love with it. It's simple too heavy and bulky. With the Mid torque doing roughly 80-90% of the jobs it rarely gets used now. HOWEVER, it is really handy to have for bigger applications such a heavy duty truck or simply stubborn bolts.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  7 лет назад

      Brian Salazar i'm pretty much the exact same way only break out the high torque on stubborn stuff. I use the 3/8 and mid-torque in combination all day long.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  6 лет назад +1

      Omar Patino the Mid Torque is a great choice. That is the one I use most of the time. They also now make it with 3/8 Anvil that has the same power rating but gives you more options with 3/8 sockets

    • @omarpatino5936
      @omarpatino5936 6 лет назад +1

      Yes I believe part number 2852-22ct I referenced is the 3/8 mid torque with friction ring 450/600 lb tq with 2 2.0 battery packs which is plenty for what I would need them for. Plus it would be lighter and smaller with these batteries to get into even tighter spots. Might look also at adding the 3/8 m12 ratchet. Subscribed and looking forward to additional videos. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the reply

      I want to see them both in person for actual size in hand. They look similar from the video but it’s hard to tell. I have the Gen 1 high impact already. I was planning on getting the 3/8 but if the mid impact is similar in size, I’m wondering if I should get that so I can deal with stubborn bolts where I can’t fit the high impact. Or should I just get the 3/8 to balance out my high impact? Thoughts? (I’ve watched the video 3 times trying to decide lol)
