I watch the FrugalFitMom channel as well and she always buys the regular shelf stable milk from Dollar Tree and her family loves it!
I always buy shelf stable milk. Every week I would throw out milk. What a waste but for recipes I wanted it. Now I keep stable milk on the shelf & it lasts a couple of weeks after you open it. No more waste. Make pudding if I need to use it.
I always try to keep some kind of shelf stable milk my family can tell the difference but they don't mind it they say it has a sweeter taste haha
Great job. Like she said if you need help don’t be afraid or ashamed to seek it out…keeping your family fed is all that matters!

YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DESERVE TO EAT. The pandemic turned the world on its head (and we are not out of the woods yet). People who never thought they would be where they are are where they are. It is okay to ask for help. When you are back on your feet you can return the favour and help someone else. Until then, let us help you. PLEASE. And if you can spare even a few cents to donate something to your look food bank please do that. There but for the grace of ... etc. etc. (Okay - off my soapbox - it was just really on my heart to post this).
I have a hint about the powdered milk. I live alone and hate to cook, so I don't buy milk because I get cottage cheese because I forget it in the back of the fridge LOL. Powered is fine for cooking and I just mix it up when I need it. My only tip is mix it up the night before. The mix sitting in the fridge over night helps a ton! So if your family won't drink the powdered milk maybe you can use it for cooking (and not tell them LOL)

I agree with chilling milk made with powder for at least a few hours. Another tip is to add a small amount of vanilla extract to it-it helps improve the flavor.

When my 2 boys were young, we would go through 6 or 7 gallons of milk each week. So I started cutting the gallons of milk with powdered milk...it sure did make the milk go farther...

I use dry milk for all my baking, pancakes and such and mix it up as I need it.

I love these videos! It's hard for me since I can't drive to get to a food pantry due to my epilepsy. I'm supporting my brother and taking care of my dad. There's been times where we would go a almost week without eating a meal except maybe a couple crackers. Most $ goes to bills. Inflation sucks. I'm really trying here. Sometimes i just dont know,But again thank u. So sorry for rant. Love ur videos love!

I have tried many store brands of canned chicken and disliked them, but now, we love the canned white meat chicken from Costco. So good. We make Buffalo chicken dip and chicken salad all the time with it.

As I’m watching, I’m eating pork chop, broccoli and rice. I just cooked the small pork chop/loin, diced it up, cooked plain rice and tossed in my pork chop bites, plain rice, soy sauce and broccoli. It made 3 big servings and was tasty. I think plain rice with soya sauce was cheaper than a rice dish. I make pork fried rice quite often. You can use frozen mixed veggies instead and I’ve diced up a hot dog or two when I’ve been out of pork loin chops in my freezer.

I love evaporated milk. I buy it during the holidays when it's on sale and keep it all year round. I miss the huge boxes of dry milk. They were so cheap at Aldi.

I used to always add water in place of milk in everything 😅 never had any issues. Sometimes I even still add water in place of milk if it's something we can't tell difference on
Great video! We don't drink a lot of milk here, so I buy a half gallon and freeze it into 2 cup portions, that way none goes to waste.

I didn’t say anything wrong. I said “ I personally don’t like canned chicken”
I didn’t say not to try it or not buy it. Everyone has different likes and dislikes, but I’m not going to use canned chicken in recipes if I don’t like it. You can use it if you want too. Like I also said in the video.

Just a tip I’ve heard buy a gallon of milk and freeze it if you don’t drink a lot. You could portion it out into 1 to 2 cup portions. At our Walmart a gallon of milk (2%) is $2.22 which makes a quart 56 cents. The shelf stable is $1.25 for a quart. So check the prices to make sure you’re getting the biggest bang for your buck.
Of course getting the best bang for your buck is great, but as I shared in the video sometimes people can’t afford a whole gallon of milk at a time. That’s why I shared the cheaper options. Everyones prices are different also. One of my friends in a different state is having to pay over $5 for a gallon of milk.

Sorry , I put one and half cans of water with evaporated milk I figure that’s 2% ha ha ,and when milk is on sale I freeze for cooking the only milk I use for cereal is almond . Good recipes!🤗🌸

the taco chicken is $8.00 in total you add the milk the total is different.
As I shared in the video the milk isn’t a have too. You can just use water. If you need it to be cheaper by not adding in the cost of the milk. I also shared some cheap shelf stable milk options to keep on hand to help in times of need.

Yes it would. I was showing the almond milk because that’s what I had on hand. I said in the video they make regular milk and unsweetened almond milk in the cartons.
Do you keep those dollar store almond milk cartons after Best Buy date? If so, how long are they still good for?
No. We use it before. That’s one thing I’m weird about. Dry goods I’m 100% fine with buying and using “out of date”

Walmart, but most grocery stores have it. Even dollar tree. In with the other canned meats.
