So since modern archery has taken over the word “release” for mechanical releases, what should we use to describe non-mechanical releases with your fingers? Such as the Flemish two finger release or Mongolian thumb release

I would bet that you could continue to call non mechanical releases ‘releases’ and no ‘modern archery’ enthusiast would give you any kind of trouble

    Good day,
What do you recommend for older folks, with carpal tunnel issues?

Thanks tony just wanted to give this guy a shout out he has a bow shop in Johnstown pa! Extremely helpful and takes pride and setting you up right. Very knowledgeable he knew my draw length was .5” short after watching me shoot my bow only one time! If I still lived in the area he would be the shop I go too!

Excellent tips from a top archer and very approachable person! Another way to shoot a 2 finger -> I shoot a phat two finger on a strap to help me pull thru the shot and keep pressure off of the two fingers and it creates a better surprise shot… for me.

It might be good for some people. I find that 4 fingers works best for me. I had an incident when my 3 finger slipped out of my hand. Since then I can never hold it as relaxed as I use to. I hit the target but there is definitely something in the back of me mind. I would say that maybe in a nice sunny day 2 fingers will work but in -10C after 2 hours out side in the snow with semi frozen hand I would never try 2 fingers. At the moment I shoot 3 fingers and I can manage in the cold but I added a wrist sling for safety.
