Maybe, but how service-level employees are treated by society is one of the possible changes that comes from this moment. The U.S. is a capitalist society and the country was founded on such. It will take the will of a large part of the population to change that and keep it that way. My last delivery was to a 97 year old woman, whose daughter ordered a list, that I could barely provide due to hording. My car became inoperable about five or ten minutes after because a bearing failed in a wheel. I almost died a normal delivery driver way. It'll cost more than I have to fix, but I regret nothing. It was a great experience knowing she didn't have to go out that night.
I know everyone's situation is different but it really makes me angry that people take those small orders. They'll have 40 50 items for $7 no tip and someone will STILL take the order. Why?? Its things like that that wint give any change. You putting all that wear and tear on your body and car for pennies. Stand down so they can pay what we're worth. Its desperation imo
We've been volunteering to shop for seniors and the more vulnerable in New Jersey for the last month, and it's been crazy. Still, most seniors don't know that there are a ton of volunteers that want to help, so I still see elderly folks hobbling along in grocery stores. Many without masks until they just became mandatory in NJ.
I feel so bad for food employees right now, yesterday there were straight up 50 people waiting outside if the chipotle and of course there was a Karen among them screaming about how her food was supposed to be done at 6:30 on the dot. She was just going off and this teenager had to sit there and take it. I know some people think everyone should just quit bad jobs but somebody had to make all that food for those people and they have my sympathy for that.
I’m a driver for Grubhub and is nerve racking going to male the deliveries. However, the way the companies and restaurants are handling this situation is exceptional! We have no contact with customers and minimal with restaurant employees. Thank you to the people supporting our jobs!
My roommie and I are on disability. We are "at risk". But we can't afford the delivery services out there. We have to do our own shopping. We have to go out at least once a week. We would stay home if we could, but we are on a limited budget. It's more cost effective for us just to put on rubber gloves and go out. Not safe, but affordable.
I work independently ,using my own van, delivering food.No cash, all pre charged.no traffic ,no contact with customers.Making buck$, but I still worry about the health risk I’m taking.I really hope this virus is eradicated very soon.No amount of money is worth dying for.
3:04 Yeahhhhh, that makes *perfect* sense. Put your food on the dirty floor mat where everybody wipes their shoes that may have dog cr@p, bum urine, spit, other street sidewalk bodily fluids ETC. All just not to interact with the delivery person.
People are still being mad rude to grocery workers, we constantly get in supplies but they sell out immediately even with limits. I had a woman screaming at me yesterday because I said there was a limit on paper goods, I saw her trying to take down the limit signs bc if they aren’t up we can’t force people
I don't understand why people that never did Uber Eats, act like they know best for what those workers need. As an Uber Eats driver I can confirm that what it lacks in benefits it makes up in freedom. leave us alone
Hector i was wondering about this. The platforms weren’t originally advertised as full time jobs. If they are, theyd have to required hours and would basically be cabs. Im not a driver though
Things are pretty normal here. Except for normal deaths being counted as coronavirus victims. Life is trucking along here. Just not as many people out running. News didn't show the 14 countries, including China, protesting week after week. Up until this big event. Now social distance! Now those streets are empty. Coincidence?? I think not. There is no, we the people anymore. People are gullible, and willing to give up more rights. There is an agenda being hidden with this so called science fiction pandemic. It's been debunked and people still buying it up.
As a veteran delivery driver currently working for Bite Squad, I have seen my weekly income double since the pandemic began. I am very grateful to still be allowed to work and that my wife can still work at home. Given the risks we face on a daily basis, we ask that customers appreciate what we do. My wife and I would like to thank the Instacart drivers who deliver our groceries to our home.
Hopefully we'll see a future where people value and respect health care workers, farmers, delivery drivers etc rather than vapid celebrities who hold little value outside of being entertaining during times we have the luxury of nothing better to concern ourselves with.
I'm a pizza delivery driver, and I absolutely love my job, but she's right - we are often disregarded and taken advantage of. But during this pandemic, people have been so very thankful and kind during my deliveries. Even during contactless ones too. Please keep in mind we're at an increased risk and are considered essential!
You Wish I'm saying be appreciative that our industry is still open for business. I work for a small business so it's especially hard for us. I'm not patting my own back - there are essential workers who do a hell of a lot more than I ever could. I'm just saying to be more attentive during these times. :)
numbers are off instacart adds more individual orders onto a single order so if you break down the 15$ and hours its around 5$/3drops and theres no peak pay which soley rely on a tip thats not really a tip, which is added on before the order starts. Which can be manipulated or reduced after the order is done shipt make the promo pay clear as day. Which looks like its pays out of their pocket than the customer will get you some where between 5-20$ in my time doing it. I've done it for awhile and i usually average about 22-25$ an hour which is great.
Not only companies not doing their best to keep us safe during this, the Health department here in Wisconsin refuses to name certain companies that recently had a major problem with covid 19. In fact, going on now. How are we supposed to be safe during deliveries if our own Health department won't tell us where the hot spots are??? This is plain stupidity on the part of the government.
Even during these tough times, people are very ungrateful! I deliver with Uber & DoorDash and there are customers who don’t tip. Many of these people live in wealthy neighborhoods, so that further makes me wonder why there so cheap. There not even paying delivery fees as those are waived. Customers have also given me a thumbs down for leaving there order at the door, even though they chose that option in the app???!!!
Asmi Saqib you stupid is it really worth it 50$ a day after your gas money and putting so many miles on your car and risking your life getting corona virus's
What's the point in getting unemployment for Uber/lift drivers in 2 o 3 months? My best friend works for Uber and he is not getting any trips and the time that spends in line for groceries shopping for uber eats and the money he spends in gas, maintenance, oil change, insurance, tires etc... is not worth it. And sometimes losing money as well. 🤦♂️ He needs the money yesterday.
people are desperate and these scam gig work jobs that politicians allow to take advantage of the population are the only option. it's this or literally homelessness.
Thank the people for delivering food to others in all countries. They are supporting people's lives, I usually give them a bottle of water, if I don't have extra money or masks for them. Keep healthy!
I do Grubhub and Doordash & I’m still waiting for my protective gear. I’ve seen an increase on orders, but less pay. $3 per delivery is just not worth my health & my time. Some customers are nice they say thanks and give you homemade masks. Others are really mean and want you to take their big orders three floors up for a $1tip. Hopefully like the video say there’s a change, I doubt it but one can only hope.
I average $20-$50 per order. However, I stay at home and sell on-line. If your interested in more money and flexible hours consider looking into selling on e-Bay, Amazon, Etsy.
I’ve been doing Instacart in NYC the past month and people are so cheap they wanna sit home and use a PREMIUM service, and I have to go shop groceries and deliver to them and some people live 8-10 miles away and they only Tip 2-4$. That’s why I only do half of their orders who tip 2-4$ and cancel the rest of the items. And stuff get paid full amount. So for all you who wants to order groceries or food TIP your people don’t be greedy because at the end you will get the same service you tipped for just saying. And I am not the only one like that.
I work delivering flowers, our goal is to keep people home as much as possible. I got a n95 mask and apply a zero contact delivery policy. All I can do is keep up the good work and pray for this outbreak to end asap.
I'm happy to see that these companies have heard the complaints from its contractors and adapted by providing them with tools to be safe! It's worth mentioning that if you think you're in high risk of complications from the virus you should not work for any of these companies and let the people who can take the risk to work there instead. No need to change laws, I think we should instead ask for government subsidies for companies who do more for their gig workers and provide companies low interest Capital to fund competing platforms to instacart and Uber eats. That's the American way, not to force companies to do more directly.
Fortunately, I still receive my salary as well as other passive income. Insta cart has been amazing for increasing my savings fund during this time! I love the tax deductions I receive by working for Instacart as well. Sorry to hear so many are unfortunate with the service but it’s been truly a blessing to serve people and getting compensated well. Stay safe and healthy!
None of these delivery workers are wearing gloves, they've touched the entire grocery store and then touched your food packaging so what's the point. I can go to the grocery store and contaminate my own food
A really nice young mom with 3 little ones in a very poor area gave me a 25 dollar tip on an 11 dollar kid meal delivery for uber eats...sometimes 2 dollars is all people can afford to tip but some weeks over 50 percent of my earnings are tips. Many times I deliver 12 to 16 orders and get 12 to 16 tips....be nice . try being selfless or showing grace in these fd up times
If you don't like the job than please just quit, and if 10 other people are excited to take your job than the job apparently is perfectly fair. If you think that you are worth more than by all means go get yourself a better job because if you can get it than you deserve it!
This is ridiculous, Instacart workers threatening to go on strike for HAZARD PAY, when there are people like myself, for example, who are worried about just waiting for their background check to hopefully go through, especially if there happen to be ANY type of prior criminal history or past conviction, who successfully have put it in their past, who are standing by patiently, waiting to hear back on the final parts of their hiring process!
Instacart is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I just got charged $416 for a $283 Costco purchase. You would think for that kind of margins they would be treating their employees like royalty. This is the last time I used Instacart. Despicable.
I gotta be completely real, they cannot do the things they ask because there is no money to go around for everybody. For example, restaurants operate on low margins, so if you add that these delivery companies steal 20% - 55% of the total cost of the meal just to offer delivery the restaurants get squeezed so tight that they can't survive. I understand these systems have to make money to cover their costs, workers and future development but without increasing what they charge to consumers or steal even more from restaurants I don't see how they are going to do it because they are in business to make money too. As a consumer I already think these services are overpriced and rarely use them (not even now with the pandemic) and restaurants are already going bankrupt with the rates they are paying now so if you increase it to them then they have to pay people to eat their food! The solution is to just do organized pickups and takeouts, but not deliveries. Deliveries are an additional cost that a lot of the times surpasses a tip in a restaurant that can be easily eliminated, specially considering most people that use them would probably spend 10 minutes to pick up things for themselves
0:40 "These delivery people, especially those shopping for and delivering food, risk exposure everyday." That risk is much lower than the one faced by those working at hospitals admitting coronavirus patients, who are actually at the front lines. 7:01 It seems she got "strike" and "boxcott" mixed up. If it were a true boycott, no one would be doing those deliveries, and it would've worked. But instead, it was a strike with too few people considering the high availability of replacement workers.
Yes - that's one stupid man. But there's no way you could come up with those statistic and numbers... No way you can follow those trails Because if people were having pizza delivered, they had other things going in and out There's no way you could come up with that statistic - you should know better than that
TheFoolinthe rainn why is he stupid for delivering pizza tf. And the commenter didnt come up with the number. They said 72 ppl HAVE been quarantined. Sounds like it was reported on and was enforced.
@@izzywoods794 well I'm an economist, I'm very familiar with Statistics my comment about one stupid man was actually sarcastic... I doubt somebody would be that stupid. So I will clarify that - that wasn't well written Statistics aren't facts - they are guesstimations that get validated or disqualified after the fact We've got a weatherman that I don't watch, cuz I don't have a TV... But he's exactly like this - when he starts his weather forecast, the first 5 minutes are going over what the weather was today? And if you take a look at his predictions, they're never quite right... I don't blame him because I live on the coast - but I've noticed that even weather people acknowledge the fact that statistics have variables, and don't make them look good - why do we talk about what happened today with the weather for five minutes? Cuz they're trying to validate their guesses. - based on his comment, there's no way they could have followed that trail. Unless of course they had cameras everywhere - I'll give you that... That is certainly a possibility. My point is if they were having pizza delivered? They were most likely having other deliveries also- you can't live on Pizza alone So I don't believe that statistic - it could be false, even worse, but based on his comment, there is nothing there that qualifies statistics to lead people to that conclusion and I think it's irresponsible to be spreading this type of fear... They're statistacally better off having food delivered, by one person, than 75 people going out to the grocery store. if that was your point, I absolutely agree - I didn't get my sarcasm across So statistically, they did the right thing - but take a look at how those statistics worked out? those numbers could be far worse... They could be better - But what I'm saying is based on that comment, the information given there? - there's no way they can come up with that type of number unless they were following people or had cameras on them. Doesn't matter - We'll all get through this... I wish you good health, peace to you and yours - if we could only get the NHL going then I will get my sanity back LOL!
Oh please. A lot of jobs have occupational hazards. Plus, they accept the terms on the job, then they complain about the terms of the job. Lol. Jeez. What have we become?
This culture of offloading risk to workers and contractors has to stop. Especially large companies need to be held accountable for the consequences and risks faced by the people who keep these companies running. Without drivers Uber or uber eats are worth zero yet drivers have zero protections. Go figure that one out!
@ 6:38 HAHA THE ONLY DAY I INSTACART SHOPPED in opposition to the strike... I'm a gig worker and make more money than i planned being a stay home mom and these agitators are going to ruin what has liberated me and the pay is VERY MUCH MORE THAN FAIR and i have ZERO complaints other than the FEAR of these agitators RUINING many driver's BEST OPTIONS to rise out of bad situations that previously did not exist.
Father God, the Alpha and the Omega, the Creator of ALL THINGS loves you so very much. He (through Jesus Christ) wants you to come to Him with all of your weaknesses: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Rest in the comfort of His Presence, remembering that nothing is impossible with Jesus. Pry your mind away from your problems so you can focus your attention on our Lord. Understand that He is able to do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine. When anxiety attempts to wedge its way into your thoughts, remind yourself that Jesus Christ is your Comforter and your Shepherd. Receive Him this very moment!!! Though it may feel frightening, the safest place to ever be is in the loving care of Jesus Christ. Acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord. Receive grace through faith by believing in Yeshua (Jesus Christ) and what He did on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection. You will then be sealed and justified in salvation. Trust your soul to Jesus and be saved. ❤️❤️❤️

Consumers need to demand more power and rights for these essential workers
I’m a driver for Grubhub and is nerve racking going to male the deliveries. However, the way the companies and restaurants are handling this situation is exceptional! We have no contact with customers and minimal with restaurant employees. Thank you to the people supporting our jobs!
My roommie and I are on disability. We are "at risk". But we can't afford the delivery services out there. We have to do our own shopping. We have to go out at least once a week. We would stay home if we could, but we are on a limited budget. It's more cost effective for us just to put on rubber gloves and go out. Not safe, but affordable.
Thanks for putting this out!!!!!!
Any suggestions?
Just dont lick the bag and you should be good, mate
It’s not like the food is touching the mat
People are still being mad rude to grocery workers, we constantly get in supplies but they sell out immediately even with limits. I had a woman screaming at me yesterday because I said there was a limit on paper goods, I saw her trying to take down the limit signs bc if they aren’t up we can’t force people
Sierra Dearns wow. Thats horrible
Is it start of drone delivery

I don't understand why people that never did Uber Eats, act like they know best for what those workers need. As an Uber Eats driver I can confirm that what it lacks in benefits it makes up in freedom. leave us alone
Hector i was wondering about this. The platforms weren’t originally advertised as full time jobs. If they are, theyd have to required hours and would basically be cabs. Im not a driver though
Make a UV light box that delivery people can deposit their stuff into, then sell it to the public.
I work doordash and Uber eats! I enjoy the extra business on top of my job I still have
Such good people, we all need to start appreciating the life we had.
The World is Locked Down,
Thus The Kid is Born Green! 💚
Jeff Smith show me the proof if your so confident

I’ve been doing amazon flex for over a year now I love the fact that there is almost no traffic now makes it easier to make deliveries 🚚 📦
We need a raise. I work for amazon
There’s a difference between employees and contractors. Know the differences.
Thank you for keeping America rolling
Am i the only one who read delivering coronavirus?
They need at least PPE provided...
numbers are off
instacart adds more individual orders onto a single order so if you break down the 15$ and hours its around 5$/3drops and theres no peak pay which soley rely on a tip thats not really a tip, which is added on before the order starts. Which can be manipulated or reduced after the order is done
shipt make the promo pay clear as day.
He needs the money yesterday.
people are desperate and these scam gig work jobs that politicians allow to take advantage of the population are the only option. it's this or literally homelessness.
Risking their lives lol I’m a delivery driver for Pizza Hut it ain’t that serious
Thank you guys delviring things Nd keeping our country going in this crisis you guys are awesome
Well isn't this the most convenient way to rid the nation of small businesses.
Bruh I’m bringing people McDonald’s 😂
My brother is a pizza delivery worker. He told me that some people are not even giving him tips even during this time.
Hazard pay...really? Nurses and medical staffs and first responder don’t get hazard pay!
Hang Dinh i’m pretty sure some do, right?
Tyler Bohne see I do does ones and I don’t mind that in poor areas. But rich areas they don’t tip
3:10 If you want to wear a mask, at least wear it properly and open it
Tip your delivery drivers.
We should respect these people.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD SHIPT!!! They treat their delivery drivers the worst out of all these apps.
I wish you guys had interviewed me for this story.
0:40 "These delivery people, especially those shopping for and delivering food, risk exposure everyday."
That risk is much lower than the one faced by those working at hospitals admitting coronavirus patients, who are actually at the front lines.
7:01 It seems she got "strike" and "boxcott" mixed up. If it were a true boycott, no one would be doing those deliveries, and it would've worked. But instead, it was a strike with too few people considering the high availability of replacement workers.
Getting everything delivered is the way of the future!
So let's see if anyone is hiring in the packaging and delivery business!
You are not that farfetched.
I do Uber eats and sometimes people have tip very well and Im greatful but I am running out of hand sanitizer and I can't find anywhere.
They (the delivery man, UBER) are not taking any steps to keep the customers safe, the driver safe etc.
thanx 2 these workers
Get your own supplies or don't do it! Really??
The gig economy workers would start the next revolution!
So, who is the boss now? You CEO, CFO, COO, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, GENERAL MANAGER, SUPERVISOR, SHIFT LEADER. EH,EH,EH,EHHHHH. Who is the father now?

its legit not that serious bruh. Uber eats delivers normally, ya'll trippin'
I live in India and this just happened:
A pizza delivery man in Delhi caught the virus and 72 people he delivered food to have now been quarantined.
Yes - that's one stupid man.
But there's no way you could come up with those statistic and numbers... No way you can follow those trails
Because if people were having pizza delivered, they had other things going in and out
There's no way you could come up with that statistic - you should know better than that
TheFoolinthe rainn why is he stupid for delivering pizza tf.
And the commenter didnt come up with the number. They said 72 ppl HAVE been quarantined. Sounds like it was reported on and was enforced.
@@izzywoods794 well I'm an economist, I'm very familiar with Statistics
my comment about one stupid man was actually sarcastic... I doubt somebody would be that stupid. So I will clarify that - that wasn't well written
Statistics aren't facts - they are guesstimations that get validated or disqualified after the fact
We've got a weatherman that I don't watch, cuz I don't have a TV... But he's exactly like this - when he starts his weather forecast, the first 5 minutes are going over what the weather was today?
And if you take a look at his predictions, they're never quite right... I don't blame him because I live on the coast - but I've noticed that even weather people acknowledge the fact that statistics have variables, and don't make them look good
- why do we talk about what happened today with the weather for five minutes? Cuz they're trying to validate their guesses.
- based on his comment, there's no way they could have followed that trail. Unless of course they had cameras everywhere - I'll give you that... That is certainly a possibility.
My point is if they were having pizza delivered?
They were most likely having other deliveries also- you can't live on Pizza alone
So I don't believe that statistic - it could be false, even worse, but based on his comment, there is nothing there that qualifies statistics to lead people to that conclusion
and I think it's irresponsible to be spreading this type of fear...
They're statistacally better off having food delivered, by one person, than 75 people going out to the grocery store. if that was your point, I absolutely agree - I didn't get my sarcasm across
So statistically, they did the right thing - but take a look at how those statistics worked out?
those numbers could be far worse... They could be better
- But what I'm saying is based on that comment, the information given there?
- there's no way they can come up with that type of number unless they were following people or had cameras on them.
Doesn't matter - We'll all get through this... I wish you good health, peace to you and yours
- if we could only get the NHL going then I will get my sanity back LOL!
If I have to make any suggestion for these folks, carry a pen you can sanitize and use the tip to punch the buttons on a card reader.
Oh please. A lot of jobs have occupational hazards. Plus, they accept the terms on the job, then they complain about the terms of the job. Lol.
Jeez. What have we become?
Yep.
My first thought was they must be appreciating not only still having a job, but having extra work.
And yet... this.
I'm a gig worker and make more money than i planned being a stay home mom and these agitators are going to ruin what has liberated me and the pay is VERY MUCH MORE THAN FAIR and i have ZERO complaints other than the FEAR of these agitators RUINING many driver's BEST OPTIONS to rise out of bad situations that previously did not exist.
is it a sport to complain all the time in america?
Would've been good to have a little balance.

Some of the essential workers are working these jobs as a means to put food on their table and feed their families. The companies that hire them should feel some type of obligation to offer them health insurance especially during these uncertain times.
