Glad i stumbled across this video. I am currently building a blog that will have affiliate links and none of the other tutorials I have watched have bothered to mention this
So glad this helped! People often forget about the Google side of things, but it's helpful to comply if you want to be in good standing with them.
Great video!
Is Amazon Affiliate Links Required to Mark as No-Follow and Sponsored?
Because under Amazon's contract I'm not paid to put the links on my site.
But I get paid for every sale made through the link
Does tagging sponsored run the risk of violating the contract with Amazon?
Thanks
Heya. You're right - you are technically not paid to place the links on your blog, but you are doing so because you are financially motivated - aka, you could be making money off it.
In Google's eyes, that's not any different, so you need to make the links Sponsored as well. This won't violate any contract with Amazon. In fact, they ask their affiliates to clearly state this relationship in writing as well (in the disclosure).
@@TheSheApproach as well done need to toggle on No follow button as well?
Looking forward for more videos from you! I want to be consistent blogging, I feel inspired when watching your video.. Can you share your blogging workflow eg when u create blogpost? When u create pins etc..
Hi Anys! Thanks so much!! I'm gearing up to shoot more videos so your requests are super helpful.
I already have a video up on my process for writing a blog post - ruclips.net/video/ZARxpFj8hy8/видео.html and one on how I pick which blog posts to write about - ruclips.net/video/m-_hlExby9M/видео.html.
I also have an older tutorial up on how to Create pins in Canva, but I'll add it to the list and film an updated one soon.
Thanks so much for watching - means a lot!
Super useful video. 🙏❤ Thank you!!
You are so fantastic! I'm spending the day going through your videos - where have you been all my blogging life? :)
Aww, thanks so much! This made my day.
Thank you for the great explanation! :)
Glad it was helpful!
Hello!! In a gadget's website, if I am using amazon affiliate links, then is it necessary to mark them as 'No Follow."
Yes, Amazon affiliate links subscribe by the same rule. (Just don't re-direct them using cloaking links, but adding the no-follow is allowed). However, I'm pretty sure that's already embedded in some of their gadgets like the Native Ads and image links of products, so you won't need to add no-follow to those in addition to the code they generate.
@@TheSheApproach Thanks for the reply mam...Actually I am not using product images from Amazon. I edit my own images and then embedd Amazon links in them, and also I am using the embedd the code in between the article. Is it necessary to mark them as no follow or marking them as sponsored link is enough.
Gotcha! Yes - ideally you'd still like to make those links no-follow.
You can easily add that tag to image links - I show you how at minute 6:24
But if you've already marked the old links as sponsored, you don't need to go back and change them. Just toggle both on in the future.
shouldnt affiliate links be marked as both sponsored and nofollow and sponsored and what are the benefits of this
Yes. Marking them as sponsored automatically also mark them as nofollow (at least on Wordpress).
The benefits - it discloses important information to Google which impacts their ranking system. Not disclosing sponsored or affiliate links could result in a penalty for your website (which can impact your own Google search rankings).
Thanks for the video! Does the Do follow link apply for links to products you like or have used but do not have a sponsorship or affiliate link for? Also, can I include a picture of a product from their website with the appropriate link type?
If you are organically linking to a product that wasn't gifted or sponsored, you can use the normal link (just make it open in a new tab). For images, you can't download them and upload them as that can have copyright repercussions - unless you get permission. It would be easier to take your own photos.
@@TheSheApproach Thank you!!
wonderful! i just started a blog and came across this info after posting several articles ... d'oh!!!!! Thank you so much for a great explanation
So so glad this helped! And yey for starting a blog. It’s a big step but it’s going to be so worth it!
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other blogging questions.
Thank you for the information and I also wanted to ask that you are very beautiful have a good bless day
Thanks Anna, Exactly What I have been looking for.
Thank you for explaining this!
My pleasure!
Girl, OK you're providing value here.. but similarly try not to focus too much on HOW PRETTY ARE YOU LOOKING ON THE SCREEN (your hair or lips....) instead deliver the way naturally it is, helps viewers not to distract from frame to frame. Hope you understand!
Thanks for your comment! However, I find it kinda hard to film videos without my hair and lips in it... I'm sure viewers can understand and look past that :).
Thanks for clearing it up for me! I was just contacted for a do-follow link and for some reason it felt kind of fishy.
You made the right choice! They are almost always fishy when they ask for do-follow and pay for it. If you link to them organically, that's a different story.
