About the Official ATP Tour RUclips Channel:
As the global governing body of men’s professional tennis, the ATP’s mission is to serve tennis. We entertain a billion global fans, showcase the world’s greatest players at the most prestigious tournaments, and inspire the next generation.
About 2013, my doubles partner Rick and I won the men’s open doubles at the Michael Chang charity tournament in Bellevue and Michael not only sponsored the event, he came out to the court for the finals, with like zero people watching, checked the net height, opened the new can of balls for us, and did the coin toss. As Michael said, “Heads or tails,” Rick and I basically just paused, smiled and looked at each other like, “Wow, this guy’s pretty cool.”
Took pics with us later and handed us our prize. Nice guy.
Great story Sir.
Um... just to reiterate. This dude won a slam and he doing this for ya'll....
He is like a god of me, unfortunately I never have a chance to meet him.
He’s a godly, Christian man.
Really cool
I play with a 2000 Michael Chang Prince Longbody to this day. What a great racquet, endorsed by a GREAT player: Michael Chang
Chang was an amazing athlete. High tennis IQ and he worked so hard.
Keeping it classy as ever with the very relevant thumbnail, classic ATP
lmao, pretty pathetic
what was the thumbnail? i'm guessing it's changed
@@outsidespac3 It was 2:36
Indian Wells Masters Series 1996, 1997, Michael won the singles both years and won $320,000 and $337,000. We, actually Casey Maus, our top stringer, strung 52 rackets during the 1996 event for Michael.
The five of us Star Stringing Tournament Stringers strung 1200 rackets for the ATP and WTA players that event. I strung 108 rackets and more importantly, I got 52 autographs and got a Pete Sampras match used racket!
We charged $15 labor back then.
Carl, Michael’s brother, came into the stringers trainer and told us that if the gut string tension is one pound too loose, the ball flies 6 inches long. If it’s one pound too tight, the ball lands 6 inches too short.
He will forever be one of my favorites!
I got to spend 5 days with Michael Chang in January 1989 in Boca Raton, Florida at the St. Andrews Country Club training with Jared Palmer and Michael with USTA National Coach Brian Gottfried. Michael was a gentleman and was awesome on the Har-Tru clay courts against Jared. Four months later Michael won the French Open.
Michael had completely different serve footwork back then, landing on his back foot. Changed it to front foot soon after.
Jared did pretty well too, later winning Wimbledon, Australian Open in doubles and US Open in mixed. Me? I was slightly less successful.
You still a Legend if you were able to play with them at their Primes. I'm sure everyone had different trails they travel to get to that point.
my fav player when i was a kid.... so fast on the court and covers the court really well... unbelievable athlete..
Chang has to be one of the fastest player ever...amazing foot work and speed...
Didn't get to watch Chang near as much as I would've liked...so much drive...reminds me of a friend I knew as a kid, good man.
Really enjoyed watching Chang played
One of my faves.
what a class act.
Time flies fast. He is now a 50 yr. old.
yeah, but can probably beat 99% of tennis players still.
Wonderful
Tennis
Player!!!💐💐💐💐💫
He's a fighter !
One of the fastest player on the tour never heard of him getting injury.
Agreed who in todays game do you think has the best speed?
@@bustdetector1738I think Alcaraz.
Benefit of being a smaller player, less impact on joints and legs.
STOP Anti-Asian Hate.
No, fight back instead of hoping others stop their hateful and ignorant ways.
man the thumbnail made me question the website im on.. nevertheless nice video haha
I was in the Chang gang!
Wtf is that thumbnail? 🤣🤣🤣 Michael Chang the playerrr
What I’m interested is how he developed those tree trunk of legs. Give us his workout routine.
6 hours a day since he was 5 probably. All that running/jumping. Plyometrics.
0:42 That was not a compliment by Sampras at all.
Pete showing some resentment there.
What's with that thumbnail 😂
Dude the thumbnail made me click this clip.. Which ended up being a clickbait😂
His English is incredible.
Why wouldn't it be? He was born and raised in the United States.
To win the sunshine double... you have to be under 25 years old...
it would be very tough for djokovic/nadal to do this at there age..
Fed did it at 36 in 2017
the best Asian to have played the spor
maybe li na? she got two slams
@@jerrychen2302 hmmm yeah
😃❤
Disappointed in Chang being the only Asian high profile 🎾 🏓
2:36 Trista
you at least need a high school diploma? Wow his parents must have really believed in him with full support
🖤

Michael “chimpy” Chang was my nickname for him when I played tennis as a youth. Our discussions of talking about ATP pros would arise, I’d refer to him as “Chimpy Chang”. Because he’s like a chimpanzee running around the court, full of robust energy
Kafelnikov and Kuerten were his nemesis
That's Michael Chang today, Bold Headed Chinese with Stucky Legs.
UNIQLO sponsored from JPN, he is still getting $$$.
He will buy .99 cents CHINESE FOODS for another 100 years.
Where is the problem?
Racist
