The declicked iris ring is for video use with geared rings attached/ fi(z) modules controlled from the side manually/ wirelessly like a cine lens. Adjusting with the thump wheel while filming is not advisable…
@@dodmedia I see ypur point. Only if you shot infinity locked and you enter/exit a tunnel or something I guess. Or for someone who really has mastered the art of turning focus by wire barrels / a lens whisperer of sorts.
@@dodmedia Sigma makes this lens for L Mount (which includes LUMIX S5 series) and on the Panasonic cameras you can use what they call Linear Focus. When that is enabled lenses with focus by wire react like manual focus lenses. It’s a fantastic feature!
Is it available for Canon ef mount ? Indeed the Canon 50mm f1.2 is not sharp at all and have a lot of chromatic aberration, almost feels like the cheaper nifty fifty tbh
Ah no unfortunately it's only available in E mount and L mount! I'm not entirely sure why Sigma aren't making Canon RF mount lenses but it seems their DG DN line are reserved for Sony and the L alliance.
It's an old school Sennheiser ME66 with a K6 cartridge I believe. Had it for years and years. I run that straight into a DJI Mic 2 so I have 32bit float it's fantastic! But the trick is in the mix after!
@@dodmedia thank you! I just discovered your channel so I'm not sure if you already explained how you do the audio mixing, if you haven't done it yet, take this as my formal petition :)
Ok do you want to talk about your audio setup and processing? It sounds wonderful

Well yeah I get the purpose of a de-clicked aperture ring but I don't hey why it's on this lens.. this is a wire focus lens not a cine lens 🤷

The Canon RF 50mm f1.2 seems to be money though ❤
Lol you meant "seems to be *lots of* money", right? 🥲
@@dodmedia Haha both
Now I need this lens and whatever mic you are using 😅

Glad you liked it! It's quite an incredible piece of kit!
the music is just too loud for me
Good lens great price for the quality it offers. Me personally, I prefer anamorphic lenses
Sure, for video, but you going to be taking stills with anamorphic?
@@dodmedia totally
