I don't care what anyone says as an ethnic Chinese who lives in the West all I can say is "Bravo China for an incredible visual and game masterpiece-well done!!!"
Now this... is just beautiful. I am left teary-eyed and so emotive. This game is one of the most beautiful love letters (if not THE most beautiful) to the Journey To The West, and to the character of Sun Wukong. Well done, Game Science. Well done MkIceAndFire ❤
45:28 This Moment... This Moment right here is SO Precious for SO Many Reasons! Not only is it a Great Nod to Chapter 30 from the Novel, but it shows that despite all the arguing, all the bickering & sometimes full-on disdain Zhu Bajie/Wuneng & Old Sun had for each other (with Bajie sometimes calling him "BiMaWen" as an insult, while Wukong nicknamed Wuneng, "Idiot") during the Journey, it shows that deep down in spite of all of that... Bajie genuinely misses him...
@@camilovargasgarrido7492 Zhu Bajie/Wuneng in Chapter 46 (of the Novel) when he genuinely thinks Sun Wukong died in a pot of boiling oil & wants to give own his proper invocation to Wukong, which is: You Brazen, Disaster Courting Ape! @@londonjackson8986 yes, it looks the story is complex, they are both like outcasts and on a journey of atonement of sorts. They are not best friends but they shared a bond after what they went throught, I guess.
Sun wukong made a contingency plan to take off the headband after he died he seperated his six senses all across china people on his journey would be entrusted with amd when the destined one collect all six and free from the headband his memories would returned in this new vessel of his and thd cutscene of wukong journey, battles , life and death , and his comrades hos brothers in arms and monkey subjects fighting against heaven for freedom and equality is what made wukong legendary so epic of that ending.
That is sick. So the real Wukong took the Destined One as his new vessel and then challenged the Celestial Court and won? So that really is him? Also, did the Destined One know that he would be used as a vessel and agreed to it?
@@anonisnoone6125In the cutscene before fighting the broken shell, the old monkey said the Destined One was chosen by universe to be wukongs successor. And if you prove you are worthy of Wukong's legacy by defeating Erlang, he will reveal the true memories of Wukong that he sealed in his third eye so you will understand Wukong's plan. You will refuse to be put on the headband at the end(true ending) and follow Wukong's path, fighting the hypocritical celestial court for freedom.
If you did not refuse to be put on the headband at last, I think somehow the journey is useless as you are again sealed by the restriction of Buddha. So, that means the true ending is, you refuse the headband to be put on. Wow, game developers really put a lot of effort to troll speed-runners.😅
The wukong we see daparted putting down his cup honoring his fallen brothers in arms and monkey brethren is the destined one woth wukong memories together again leaving again to fight heaven and help those in need satifying ending love it❤.

@1:52:10 haha him immobilizing you when you are drinking is such a funny and unexpected move that is all the better for it. Mainly because it seems to break a cardinal rule of gaming.
@OniFeez Oh Yeah, that part had me wheezing! It's SUCH a Dick Move, fitting for a Trickster like Sun Wukong! The only out of character thing is the Broken Shell giving the Gourd back to you! Whereas the Old Sun I know would steal that gourd, drink it all, smash it & then aim his Ruyi Jingu Bang [Comply Gold-Ring Rod] straight for the head!
2:00:11 If you stop right here and turn the screen upside down, then you'll find this very important hint: *the true essence of the entire Celestial Court is a one hella massive Yaoguai cave ..... hidden under the disguise of noble Gods and Saints* 🙊 Wukong fought so hard to reach the top, only to come to such dark full realization and joined the ranks... and eventually, with a deep sense of betrayal and guilt, Wukong decided to break free from the restrictions and attempt to reverse the the order of the whole system like how Neo did with the Matrix 👿 I think there more 'true endings' to come -- *the reincarnated new Wukong is starting a revolution!*
Nice observation though it was not the Celestial Court but it was the holy temple in the West where they travel to get the scriptures in the original book. The hand we see was of Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) himself. The Yaoguai cave reflection kinda confirmed that the Wu Kong we saw in the prolouge was sabotaged by the Buddha as the controling headband was activated even after he finished all the labours and achieve Buddhahood.
Holy shit really did wukong knew the entire time about this truth and chose not to reveal it to people he knew and made a plan to be reincarnated to the destined one with new abilities snd his titan form to fight the heaven's on equal grounds and have the yaogui join forces with him.
There was an old saying from Zhuangzi: "While the sagely men have not died, great robbers will not cease to appear". Basically, goods can only be created at the expense of smearing the evils.
Man, the last fight dynamics were insanely insane. It was a treat to my eyes. Never seen such a thoughtful ending with an outwardly final boss fight in any other game. This game here is clearly the Game of the Year. Mind blowing ♥♥♥♥♥ and thank you MKIceandFire for your hard work.
This is my interpretation of the Black Myth Wukong storyline. Feel free to have a civilised discussion if you wish to. Wukong gains the state of nirvana (and enlightenment) in the very rock he is in. The player monkey is the 6-eared money who was reincarnated (after being killed by Wukong back then) and still seeks the mortal adventures in the mortal realm. Yet because both Wukong and the 6-eared monkey are spiritually connected after their battle, Wukong gets to experience what the player monkey experiences but pays much more attention or is far more attuned to all the Buddhism related teachings across the exploits of recovering the other 5 "sensory relics" across the world. The player monkey (perhaps unknowingly) goes on to close the chapters that were left hanging after his journey to the west and post-journey celestial battle (game intro). When the player monkey finally gains entry into the rock with the 5 "sensory relics", Wukong is finally reunited with all of his mortal (and flawed and thus abused by the five yaoguai which took possession of them) senses after that epic battle inside and nirvana is achieved where Wukong finally reins in all of his mortal desires and digests them with better understanding until enlightenment. In the game ending, neither Wukong nor the player monkey leaves the rock because THAT is where exactly where they should be - away from the mortal desires and strife to preserve their state of nirvana and be at peace with enlightenment. Wukong was born in a rock. Wukong achieved the state of nirvana (and enlightenment) in a rock. The six-eared monkey also achieves the same with Wukong's "sensory relics" quests. Neither needs to let their desires run amok in the mortal realm. The beginning finally reaches the end. The circle is completed.
Thats certainly what the devs scripted but it's not in a good way like you described. In the "bad" ending you played out, Wukong is cursed to forever live out the loop as punishment for defying the Celestial gods. It's like Roland in Stephen King's Dark Tower. The "good" ending however shows him breaking this cycle by living out his days at his home (Hua Guo Shan - Flower Fruit Mountain) with his brethren and kind. This is earned, through the game, by completing the side quests religiously.
@@accountantthe3394Yeah! I agree, devs gives freedom to the players, so that they can chose what they wanted to be in the game. Either moves around in a loop or be wiser and break it.
I love that they made a semi-tragic romance between Sun Wukong and Lady Bone Demon in this game. And that even though he fought (killed?) her, he never stopped loving her.
