I love these tutorials but I really need to needle you on this video because of how you installed the ferrules. Safety requires that the end of the cable pass completely through the ferrule such that it extends at least twice as far as the cable is wide. Having the cable inside the ferrule when it is crimped is tidy but it might result in a crimp that does not perform to spec.
Could you guys cover an episode about how to efficiently pack a grip truck? I know it'll vary from truck to truck and the equipment you take out but covering the basis of how a professional truck is packed and how it translates down depending on the budget could be incredibly insightful. Just a suggestion.
Joe ManHwi Han not a bad idea, i'd have to look into it though. Just trying to think how I could go about it as there are some similarities from truck to truck but again I guess all trucks are different. Hm....thanks! Hahaha
If that light fell, it could slice the electrical cable. On no account should a safety cable, chain or binding be able to strike electrical cable in case of structural failure. It should be attached to the light chassis, not the clamp. Refer to the fitting's manual.
David Hughes Jr. that is a really fucking stupid idea. What kind of self respecting Grip doesn't know how to use ratchet straps? This is a channel for industry professionals, if you want to learn that stuff go to film school. Please don't make this video.
Heston Charres I think Davids idea is that I should do one like I did here with the swage. Like when I cover a menace arm, I'll probably briefly go over the process. Not a whole episode, but Briefly I think would be good no?
Grip Tips I think David is requesting a 15 minute episode on how to tighten a ratchet strap. I mean. Cmon guys. Hey David - why don't you check: @TheHomeDepot ?
Is it better to overshoot the length of the cable by a few inches to make the middle section 2' foot long with the loops being an extra couple inches or does it matter? I plan on making my own because my school doesn't have any for us to use.
honestly i don't think it matters, overshooting is isn't a bad idea. I've accidentally made 6inch versions before because i wasn't really measuring at the time. Not that they didn't come in handy but after swaging, you can't really go back. So overshoot!

Are you Ryan Conley inside Ryan Goslings body?!
D&T Studios 👏🏻...👏🏻....👏🏻....I'm dying hahahahaha
I've thought the same thing so many times.

Great job as always Sir!
Aargh! And I actually bought pre-made. No more.
Is it better to DIY or just buy? Prices seem the same(after buying the tool needed for the crimps at least)
Fantastic
Cool!
Drill the safety behind the baby plate on one of the screws you use id you drill a baby plate in the ceiling.

Can you make an episode about how to use and adjust ratchet straps?
David Hughes Jr. ooooooo that's a good idea!

Could you go into why you recommend the "snares" at each end versus making one big loop around the light and beam? Thanks!
Oliver Peng I mean simply put? You get more length out of the chain
I didn't think of that. Makes sense!

Hey man, Is there a problem if the cable I bought is covered in plastic? because I think it could be a problem because of the heat of the light.
Fabricio Baroni yea, typically you want it uncoated. I've made that mistake too, just use it as a tape roll chain.
Grip Tips lol that's how i'm using it. Thanks, man. Great channel.
I was just hanging lights, with safety chains.
