Comparing your Christmas Tree to those at LaLande is unreasonable. For one thing, most of their decorations are beautiful gifts from generous patrons and viewers. For another, there are no children who live at LaLande. Your home is a beautiful family home with wonderful children who live and play there. Someday, those children will be grown and you'll cherish that disheveled tree and every memory it represents. You're decorating your home, balancing finances and ideas and creativity. In the end, you will be able to look back with pride at all you've accomplished. I love LaLande and everyone there. They are all wonderful people who deserve every ounce of adoration and help and love they get. You and your family are just as awesome and tho it may take a bit longer, your home will become the beautiful place you envision too. Your paths are different, but they both have beautiful destinations. God bless all of you.
So beautifully put! I think Amy should be very proud of all she and her husband have accomplished also. It's hard to take on such humongous places without a small army of servants like they had in the past!
How nice to see LaLand from the perspective of a guest. I remember Stephanie and Philip visiting your chateau. So good that you can all learn from each other.
It's always important to get inspiration from other places. We love visiting different buildings all around the world for inspiration. More videos of these visits to come!
Hearing you talk about your inspirations and plans, makes me look forward to seeing what you end up doing at your chateau and gardens. You have great taste and ideas. It was lovely to see how much the children have grown and a chateau I see often on RUclips, from a different and appreciative perspective. It was the same when Stephanie and Philip visited you and showcased your chateau so beautifully. All the best for 2024!
This was really fun, focusing on some of the details at La Lande through your eyes and how they inspire you. Your own journey is so unique and interesting because you have such an old and historic chateau/home, because you're restoring an entire estate to viability and...doing it as new parents! I so admire the two of you.
What nice memories of last Christmas. Both Clement and Juliette were still so little back then! I hope you get to realise some of the inspirations from Lalande in Rosieres.
Thank you for cracking open the vault to share last year's Christmas with us! I bet the kiddos were crazy over the hidden door! How much they have grown in a year, too! Merry Christmas too you all!
Sooooo beautiful, Amy, Mark, Juliette & Clement. You are such a lovely family & an inspiration…. Mark’s footwear & sense of humour are equally hilarious!!! xxxxx
Amy, that was so much fun! I was laughing along with you over Philip's joke - your laughter is contagious!! Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!
Wow! Thank you so much, loved every moment, and i have never seen the sheep, up close, not moving, they are so adorable, however u kept me on the edge of my seat as Aloysius kept creeping nearer and nearer...😂
My favorite parts are in the garden with Marc and Juliette, advent discovery with Stephanie and Phillip, and the sheep close up and all smiling at Amy the animal whisperer sheepishly. Good stuff, perfect throwback!❤ Happy Christmas & Joyeux Noël ✨🎄✨
Magical places, that you both have!! Looking forward to YOUR touches in your wonderful home!! 🥰🥰 Hope you had a beautiful CHRISTmas, and that you have Blessed New Year!!! Susan, Napoleon, Missouri, USA
If you do not mind some advice, the split bath is a lovely, useful idea, my one piece of advice is is to make sure the room with the toilet includes a sink. You can get toilets that have sinks built into the toilet tank for small spaces. Nothing is more wretched than having to leave to go to another room to wash your hands. Plus, the door handle in the toilet room thus becomes absolute rank!
The temptation for children to put wet wipes down the toilet is so great (unless they're meant to be flushed).... sinks can be tiny with very narrow profiles or made for the corners of any room. @@jennifercampbell7698
I found you! I really enjoyed watching your progress on Chateau DYI and missed you when the show ended. I am delighted to have found you again, and have started to watch you from the beginning. So happy to see you and your family doing well. Hugs, Kory from Washington state, US
"Where's Philip's mummy?" Out of the mouths of babes 😂. Thank you for giving us tours of rooms at La Lande that we only see glimpses of on Chatesu Diaries. And I got such a good laugh listening to you and Philip laughing at the "chess nuts" joke!
This was so nice you were able to come to visit Chateau de LaLande! Such fun seeing this vlog and so many things you pointed out brought back memories to me in Stephanie painting the golden borders on the doors and when the curtain holders. Aloysius the sheep (the Black one) is featured in a book about Chateau de LaLande which you would probably love if Stepanie can let you know just how to get one is more are available, Reading it to your children, would be so nice, if you should choose. I would bet they would enjoy it so much and it would be a reminder of your visit for years! Just thought of what you may enjoy, and Stephanie can help direct you in how to get one. So glad you felt better by end of visit, as could hear the cold that you both still had while visiting, Have not been to your site, but will visit as it was very enjoyable Seeing you all at Lalande per this vlog!
I am so glad you showed us the sheep, I had no idea how expressive their faces are. I've only seem them on Stephanie's channel running from them when they're needing to be clipped.
Wow not only can you see how much the children have grown but also how much has changed at LaLande too, especially the planting in the courtyard and the walled garden. Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you all 🎄 x
I thought the same thing. Philip's mastery of English is quite amazing. Native English speakers take for granted the nuances of the language. They don't realize how funny it sometimes sounds to people who speak ESL. His ability to appreciate puns as quickly as they're spoken suggests to me a considerably large vocabulary. I'd love to know at what age he began learning English. They were clever puns.👍 I rather enjoyed them too.
The sidetable 'built in" for the circular room is not only practical, but harkens back to the enclosed beds that are traditional in Chateaus. What a great idea!
What a lovely personal insight into the life at Lalande from a different perspective. Thank you so much Amy and family. It was delightful 🥰😍🤗 merry Christmas 🎄🎀🎆
Thanks for sharing this video, it was really lovely. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas this year and that you will have a New Year filled with joy, peace and love.
Merry Christmas from Gold Coast, Australia. What a lovely visit you all had last year to Lalande. You're making great progress at Rosiers too. You're all very hard working & talented restoring & renovating Chateaux & the land. Love watching it all thankyou🏰🕍❄️☃️🎄🎶🥰🧡❣️
Happy New Year from your biggest fan in Oklahoma. I'm looking forward to watching you complete the smaller building and whatever else you get up to. You have such a sweet family. Love you.
Delightful to see last year’s visit to Lalande and realize how your children have grown! Any chance we will see the Christmas crèche extraordinaire? Thanks for sharing your experiences, your ideas and your enthusiasm for all the projects ahead! Have a joyful Christmas!
Delightful tour through your eyes, Amy, and a constructive way to turn "château envy" into inspiration! What's not to like about Philip, Clement?! ❤ Gosh I think the sheep like you and even Aloyishes, the mean one (black with curled horns), Lol. Joyeux Noël, xo

Amy your laughter is infectious l enjoy watching and listening to you both. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Have a wonderful Christmas day xx
Love your reaction to seeing Laland. You spoke so sweetly of the decorating and I love how you are inspired. I admit I love how Stephanie has kept the historic and opulent while also feeling homely. So appropriate of a chateau. Not a fan of white and modern in chateaus. If I go to a chateau I want history everywhere. I want the feeling of stepping back in time and I can dream about being a queen. Modern and all white I can stay at a hotel. nothing unique about all white
And yet in America, we associate the "French Provincial" style with white (or a shade of white) and gold-scrolled trim. Also pastel shades of blue and pink. Today they call it 'shabby chic". But truly the fabrics of the Louis XIV period were very bold jewel-toned brocades, or they used needle-point a lot.
