I love Alice in Chains! Every song holds a different meaning they wrote their own lyrics and arranged their own music . One of my favorites is "Don't follow" it reminds me of my brother that I lost in June.
Welcome to the world with Alice, no going back… “Love, Hate, Love”, dude Layne kills that song live… no one, NO ONE can touch Layne Staley… he is the GOAT… Fun to crazy, with the different branches of AIC, check out Laynes other Super Group, MAD SEASON and read up about all the rock groups from Seattle.
Keep up the great content Steve, AIC is truly timeless. I had the same reaction to Alice when I first heard them.I have always enjoyed new music as it comes out, mostly metal but other genres as well. Suicide Boys or Redzed most recently for example. I go to see every band or artist I can live. But I have been listening to AIC ever since’91 and I just never get tired of it or bored with any part of it. The only band or artists that I can say that about. There’s a few others who go back to from time to time, but AIC is always on my list. I have been to hundreds of shows and seen thousands of artists over the last 50 years and been to some of the most iconic festivals. I’ll be 60 in a few months and I find myself at shows where I am older than everyone else by 30 years so I am always listening to new music and artists that come out. I live for music. But AIC is just a cut above them all
That shrill voice on 'Godsmack' is there to annoy. It represents his addiction/withdrawal voice speaking to him- but you gotta admit that hook is undeniable!
For Sure! Love Hate Love might be the best live vocal rock performance of all time! Layne really just shows off his chops as the best rock singer of all time!
I feel ya entirely dude, it’s my reality almost 35 years now.. It’s, this record, their whole discography is brilliant, it’s addictive as hell.. Layne, Jerry, the others, Inez, Sean Kinney, Mike Starr it’s the whole package song after song🍻🍻🍻🔥🔥
Your reaction to Godsmack is the reason why I love it. It's a dark ass song it's not supposed to sound pretty, his voice is imitating the shakes from heroin addiction. Also that definitely doesn't sound like Paul Bearer, Bearer has a high voice while Godsmack vocals are strained. Also Untiled(Iron Gland) has Tom Araya from Slayer on it.
Someone below mentioned Primus. At the '94 Lollapalooza i had the pleasure of seeing both Alice in Chains and Primus. Philly arena, 350,000 people in the crowd. An epic show
*TWO THOUGHTS...* 1. You're the first reactor I've ever run across who loved AIC, but never once mentioned Layne Staley's singing voice 2. *You really should give Angry Chair another spin.* It's hook is so melodic and euphoric that it offsets the dark and disjointed atmosphere of the verse. I promise you it's one of those songs that'll hit you when it's playing in the background and you're not focusing on it. It's definitely one of those tracks you'll appreciate when you least expect it if you give it another chance
Young man, thank you for covering my favorite grunge band ever and over all top 5 band in any genre! It makes my soul shout to know another generation will continue listening to Layne, Jerry, and the boys.
This is literally my 2nd favorite LP of all time..... Ironically, my favorite was released the same year.* Angel Dust" by Faith No More will blow your FN mind.
Welcome to the fam!!!! AIC fans are one, bro. I've watched both of these AIC videos now, and I just luuuuuv u guy. I've laughed and gotten chocked up with ya. I love that u love it!!!!! That's how I felt too. Like it got (shoved up my ass) 😂 I have been a superfan since day one. Yeah I'm and old metalhead grandma. lol All my grandkids have been raised on AIC😜
Definitely check out their other albums too, Dirt is probably their "best" but I honestly have a hard time picking a favorite between their first 3 Albums (Facelift, Dirt, Self-Titled) and the Jar of Flies EP.
Not liking Angry Chair is nuts. That being said, I think it’ll grow on you…same with Junkhead. Every song on this album is an ear worm, and the best type of ear worm. Masterful album with masterful songwriting.
I was 18 in ‘92. Angry Chair was EASILY the most ominous beginning to a song I’d heard. And Them Bones literally made me jump the second it started. That was a cassette.
This is one of the greatest albums ever made, absolute high quality work of art. I am biased because I grew up in the 90’s but bands then put it all out there. Put all of their pain and emotions into their music. This is the “don’t do drugs kids” album and they paint you that picture perfectly.
AIC was my post-Def Leppard rock gateway around age 14, glad to see almost 20 years later new listeners are still having the same first time experience. Hope you don't get grounded for listening to it like I did.
Bro, if this album blew your mind, imagine how we reacted to it in 1992. Blew our minds off! This was as wild as when Led Zeppelin roamed the earth! Fire Inceneration level!
with the amount of feeling that came out of you during down in a hole, I truly hope you are doing okay man. The feeling that hits you during the chorus is real as fuck
Alice in chains's best song BTW, for me, is the studio version of NUTSHELL. It tares my souls apart every god damn time. One of Layne's last and deepest song. You can hear the depression and weight of life baring on him and him losing all hope. He was struggling with serious addiction issues that eventually claimed his life. That song man.....💧💧💧💧😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭
Dirt by Alice in chains is in my top 5 records of all time so please, listen to my other 4 favourites. Moving pictures from the band RUSH - OK Computer from Radiohead - Seventh son of a seventh son by Iron Maiden - The wall by Pink Floyd. None of these albums are remotely similar in any way but they are all PERFECT RECORDS from beginning to end !!!!!!!!! They are absolute fire. If I'm stuck on an island forever, these are the records I'm bringing with. FLAWLESS RECORDS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the best albums ever i use to listen on repeat for hours as a freshman. You have to look at the Album as a whole its perfect all together. I was going to see them open for Metallica in 1995 but Alice in chain’s canceled the day of the concert. Layne Staley was deep into Herion as this point and was was Gone before we knew it. One of my big regrets not seeing them live.
I was supposed to see them on that tour, too, in Albuquerque. I think that was right around when he went in but can't remember if it was the day of that show. I love Metallica, but I went to that show for Alice. Sigh.
you need to react to the album shed by title fight, the genre might be a bit different but once you get into it i really think youll like it honestly, its my favorite album of all time
Gotta listen to the album NOLA by Down. Lead singer from pantera and a bunch of people from down south. Possibly one of the greatest albums ever produced right next to Dirt
When this genre came out, they had a hard time labeling it. They tried alternative, garage rock and settled with grunge. It’s still hard to put a label on it but it is exceptional
Alice in Chains still exists you can still see them. Not sure if or when they will have anymore shows they did I think one in Vegas this year but Jerry Cantrell was on tour this summer I saw him in August and he has another tour next year I believe for his latest solo album that came out about a month ago. They have had a few albums since Layne died and Jerry has a handful of solo albums. Layne was in another band called Madseason they had one album. Junkhead is better live same with Love Hate Love. There are videos of both live out there both sound better than the albums.
Pearl Jam is still killing it today. If you want to jump all the way to the end of your Metal journey, check out Machine Head. The Hellalive album is best - AND it's live.
Bought this album on the day it came out, I was a junior in high school. Had no idea it would be a life changing album. RIP Layne and Mike!! And if you want unique with insane bass, you need to check out Primus. I’d recommend “Jerry was a racecar driver” as a good starting point. But Primus does suck!!
So… First of all, God bless yo crazy black goose bump’n ass (😳😂) and welcome to the club with those like me who went all in on AIC.. it’s a dark gorgeous and potent place! Seriously, thank you for covering this volume of content and bringing it back to fore to be rediscovered and introduced to a new Gen… One thing you don’t cover much is Layne’s voice.. as well as guitarist Cantrell’s There isn’t a more powerful and finer tuned harmonic couple, with the lead voice of Staley having so many ranges and tone quality… besides say Chris Cornell from the bands Soundgarden, Audioslave etc! It seems like you do like it nonetheless because I believe you cannot enjoy this band without it secretly being the addictive voice of Staleys 😉 Side note *I don’t like that voice either.. you’re not supposed to it’s his disease of addiction- nasty and repulsive… I’d say don’t overreact so much but then again it’s your hyperbolic reactions that has me enjoying your coverage lol.. They have some songs better than others, that’s just the way.. play it a few times mixed with others and some will grow on you Let’s just say having AIC music( his other band Mad Season too) will help you along the journey you’ll be taking into grunge.. best music! Precursors Like James Addiction and the Cult before it in the alternative stage and some metal bands like Metallica You have other playlists I’m guessing and I’ll be checking them out..I’m a Sub now you do a great job I went to drug treatment with Layne twice. Not trying to name drop, really… But as his roommate one of those times I gotta tell yeah… the words to so many of these songs are his inner diary come to be in musical prose.. dangerous dangerous musings that told of his slow then abrupt but predictable death RIP Layne Keep it up, Check out their other works you don’t wanna miss it!
You have to watch the entire MTV Unplugged special. It’s still rated as the best one out of the series. It’s great, but it also sucks. Great because the music and the performance. It sucks because it’s the next to last performance they ever give together, you can clearly see what Laynes addiction has done, and is doing, to him, yet he still sounds amazing! The funny thing that a lot of people don’t get is what’s on Mike’s bass guitar. It says “Friends don’t let friends get friends haircuts”. See here’s the joke. The show friends was popular at the time and they all had trending haircuts. The band was friends with Metallica. In fact Metallica dedicated the album Death Magnetic to Layne. Anyway, this was right after Metallica cut their hair real short and started wearing guy liner under their eyes because of Lars pushing it. People were giving them shit about it, and the guys from AiC got in on it too.
Sadly this kind of music only comes from tortured souls and drug adicts. Lane was is a legend and its sad he died from the drug he wrote so many classic about.
Now you have to do "Facelift", their first album!! And the Unplugged is perfect too!!
yup yup
Yeah facelift rips also
I agree...Unplugged is what he needs to hear next!
Dirt is a masterpiece. One of the greatest albums of the 90’s and arguably one of the best rock albums ever.
I love Alice in Chains! Every song holds a different meaning they wrote their own lyrics and arranged their own music . One of my favorites is "Don't follow" it reminds me of my brother that I lost in June.
Godsmack. The voice you didn't like is his addiction singing to us in it's own voice
Alice in Chains Jar of Flies is their follow up to Dirt it's an EP debuted at #1 they did it in 7 days....a masterpiece
Welcome to the world with Alice, no going back…
“Love, Hate, Love”, dude Layne kills that song live… no one, NO ONE can touch Layne Staley… he is the GOAT…
Fun to crazy, with the different branches of AIC, check out Laynes other Super Group, MAD SEASON and read up about all the rock groups from Seattle.
Love Hate Love...what she said ^

With Angry Chair you have to feel a burning underlying rage that wants to consume you. A calm before the storm...
That shrill voice on 'Godsmack' is there to annoy. It represents his addiction/withdrawal voice speaking to him- but you gotta admit that hook is undeniable!
One of my all time favorite Albums !
You gotta do "Love Hate Love" live version.....
For Sure! Love Hate Love might be the best live vocal rock performance of all time! Layne really just shows off his chops as the best rock singer of all time!
AIC are in a class all their own, glad to see you're discovering their greatness!!
Rain when die , best song this album🔥
I feel ya entirely dude, it’s my reality almost 35 years now.. It’s, this record, their whole discography is brilliant, it’s addictive as hell.. Layne, Jerry, the others, Inez, Sean Kinney, Mike Starr it’s the whole package song after song🍻🍻🍻🔥🔥
PLS STEVE MORE ALICE IN CHAINS, ❤

You have to see them Live, check out ALL the Live at the Moore Theatre performances.
Fun fact Godsmack the band got their name from this song
Bro, if this album blew your mind, imagine how we reacted to it in 1992. Blew our minds off! This was as wild as when Led Zeppelin roamed the earth! Fire Inceneration level!
with the amount of feeling that came out of you during down in a hole, I truly hope you are doing okay man. The feeling that hits you during the chorus is real as fuck
If you like AIC, you'd probably dig some Stone Temple Pilots too. Give their album "Core" a listen.
Need to see a Primus reaction😂
Primus Sucks!!!
Oh but where to begin
The fact that his voice was not enhanced is extremely amazing.
Check out jar of flies it’s my personal favorite Alice In Chains album
Me personally, I think I like their debut album "Facelift" a little better overall. Every album they have has at least 1 or 2 amazing songs on it.
Alice in chains's best song BTW, for me, is the studio version of NUTSHELL. It tares my souls apart every god damn time. One of Layne's last and deepest song. All their albums are awesome...
Since you like them bones.. You gotta hear we die young on the Facelift Album. The heavy riffs leading it are some of the best.

Now jump to the UNPLUGGED reaction!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best grunge album. F**k Never mind. This is the sh*t right here bro !
The guitar solo in Them Bones is the goat of grunge
you need to react to the album shed by title fight, the genre might be a bit different but once you get into it i really think youll like it honestly, its my favorite album of all time

Someone loves Sean!

You're trying to describe their sound. Its called "Grunge"
Stay Away is a must
Staind & Godsmack were Alice and Chains cover bands.
You need to check out Mad Season
So… First of all, God bless yo crazy black goose bump’n ass (😳😂) and welcome to the club with those like me who went all in on AIC.. it’s a dark gorgeous and potent place!

you should listen to Allroy's Revenge by ALL, it's one of the best underrated punk albums of all time
☮️💜🤘, 🪽 granted 🪽dear Layne. 🔥
Aic 2.0 is an interesting listen. Not as good as the original but their most recent album almost got there. Rip Layne.
Need System of a Down self titled album reaction
you know what's a great underrated numetal album? that's yakuza way of the dead, with masterpieces like vergasso or yama
You should definitely listen to Soundgarden or Nirvana if you like AIC
AIC was way before STAIND but Aaron Lewis does a GREAT cover of AIC Nutshell!
Welcome a board my friend
A.I.C
so glad youre listening to more aic you gotta listen to Tool next
Reacciona a Avenged Sevenfold y su álbum nightmare es una obra de arte!!!
Do the self titled. Nobody talks about it but ....
Soundgarden Badmotorfinger 🙏🙏🙏
Gen X is ALIVE!!!!!

At this point, would you still compare Alice In Chains to Staind?
maybe not😭
Ok, brother...it is now time to feast your ears on the album "Superunknown" by Soundgarden! (You're welcome)
nahhhh badmotorfinger first
@@bigdaddy793-1 I love Badmotorfinger, but I feel like Superunknown is more accessible for the uninitiated.
@@bigdaddy793-1 I love Badmotorfinger, but I feel like Superunknown would go down better to a Soundgarden newb.
21:11 You skipped the end of the song.
Since you like rock and wwe you should listen to trust company, rise against, e days grace, saliva
Sadly this kind of music only comes from tortured souls and drug adicts. Lane was is a legend and its sad he died from the drug he wrote so many classic about.
Layne Staley. Vocal god. Google
Him.
dont know if you ever heard it, but i reccomend burzum filosofem. it is THE black metal album
burzum💀
Bro ain't use to creative music
Please do not ever compare Alice In Chains to Staind. Staind does not even come close to AIC’s level of talent. Their cover of Nutshell was trash.
