One of the great benefits of this amidst hands on things like cooking is that you don't need clean hands to touch virtual keyboards, buttons, and other virtual objects.
I can't wait for when they start making dedicated MR cooking apps that help you pick the ingredients and help you to know what you're doing as well as maybe gamefying it
Exactly bro , they should make virtual reality about that , full with knowledge that would improve your hobbies in a fun way , there’s literally no limitations , but companies hardly listen to the consumers
@DarkGoldUnique I mean scores if we can somehow get a rating, step by step recipes. Coins for certain optional side quests that improve what you're cooking. Sound effect? I mean the possibilities are endless but I don't have a coherent idea
This would be awesome if it could scan your ingredients just by looking in the fridge and through your cupboards. Then give you recipes based on what you got, what you like, and what you are capable of cooking.
@david-rf7tf I'm on about the fact that he asked the AI how to make his hands more heat resistant opposed to just using tongs or something. That part of this video lives rent free inside my sack
You know what’s cool? Seeing videos in the quest that has been recorded with and from another person’s quest device. Is like experiencing their reality, sound cool to me
I wouldn't stand right above the hot steam with my Quest 3. It has air vents all around and will suck in all that moisture, needless to say that it won't do the hardware any good.
Wow, the potential.....I could be in class work, while in my quest, making dinner...amongst other things. Thanks for showing the quests potential, I am sooo excited to get mine
Excellent video demonstrating some everyday use cases for two emerging technologies. Really makes me think of what other activities could benefit from AR/MR. I'm a musician and feel like it could be really helpful for practicing.
The mear concept of this as an application that could be used that integrated Chat-GPT for cooking is fascinating. I really hope someone is thinking about this as an implementation. Apple no doubt would likely be first to try something like this with Vision Pro. Hopefully Meta is paying attention to this, the potential is up there in killer app territory.
Hello, I am new to the VR headsets. I found your video by looking for videos cooking with a VR headset. I am definitely going to buy either the Meta Quest 3 or the Apple Vision Pro headset. I have all the Apple things, I am an older guy and I do need all the Apple business apps. From my research, it looks like the Quest will be way more than enough for my first time. The money is not an issue for me. Thank you for the great video! Larry B.
Hi Larry.. been literally googling the same! Any insights so far in your journey? I'm definitely looking into making an app like this for meta quest and orion smart glasses whenever they do get released
Just a tip,If you are able to project the Chat GPT mobile app, you should be able to interact with ChatGPT with your voice instead of typing But Great work😃
@Tassilo von Gerlach @4:03 you felt fatigued because of the strap you're wearing on the headset. The quest 3 is alittle heavy therefore the strap will be digging into your head overtime giving you fatigue or even a headache. I recommend bobovr M3 headstrap for the quest 3. It's completely comfortable for long periods of use and has a battery extender to use the quest for longer each session at a time.
Its an OKAY experience, don't be fooled by his video preview that you see on the lett side. Its definitely better than Quest 2 and Pro but its no way true to life or high res like your phone camera. You can use the passthrough but don't think you can completely rely on it.
True. Although it does seem to get shockingly good if you have good enough lighting. It’s very grainy in my kitchen but if I walk into the bathroom which has insanely bright white lights it’s just as clear as in this video. Definitely not 1:1 with life though it’s still lacking.
dude i am floored at the capability of the quest 3 truly had no clue how mind blowing the technology would be until I put it on and experienced it. I still can't even quite fathom it fully. The games obviously will need to be dialed in over time before they are ever anywhere remotely close to what it looks like playing a game on a screen, BUT still incredible, glad I waited for the quest 3 before jumping in though. Quick question when I am seeing stuff through the lenses, it looks very grainy, but if I open the camera, it looks fine. It's gotta be a setting right? I tried playing with the scroll wheel on the bottom but didn't seem to change anything.
Whoa that was amazing! I just bought it and I love it! Now I wanna do the same thing you did lol I NEED to know how you were able to have the chat GPT on your VR? The keyboard and how did you do the multiple browsers too please!! Thank you 😊
Hey Tassilo, great video! Just a bit of feedback: I think the current thumbnail might not visually convey the unique topic of the video quickly enough to potential viewers. By showing yourself in the thumbnail with the Quest on your head, wearing an apron, and holding two kitchen knives, along with the text 'Cooking in Quest 3?', it would immediately highlight the video's unique selling point. I believe this would make the thumbnail more visually appealing and likely to get the video more clicks.
You won't regret getting the Quest 3. After meddling round with it, the money you paid will seem nothing compared to the tech you are getting. It's an amazing device and this is coming from someone who owns pcvr as well as psvr2. Nothing beats standalone headsets, especially when the tech is amazing. I hate corded VR now.. cannot play with a cord. And I can lay i am bed watching movies in Bigscreen Vr netflix etc with no issue. That cannot be done with pcvr or the psvr2. Unless you sleep next to your PS5
funny I just bought a vision pro the other day and I was considering making an app that helps you cook.. but while talking to GPT as oppoed to typing like "ok what do i do now?" GPT: "Chop the onions and saute". What do you think? is this the future? what were the current shortcomings you faced with this method?
I'm super picky when it comes to tech and VR/AR is one of the best all time tech advancement ever right next to computer/internet that invented machine with software potential and VR is the true next step in usability
I believe this is more worth it, but however, when he reviewed with it cooking, he did reply he was very sick of motion sickness, so maybe it’s better to cook irl, which he is doing but in VR, I think it’s better cook irl without the vr.
Does everything look grainy for you because for most the quest 3 is actually grainy on most vr headsets right now. Even on my own after settings have been set to high quality settings its still grainy and whorped looking.
The issue here is that the passthrough camera is worse than a phone from 15 years ago. Honestly havent seen a camera this bad since i was a young teen, im now 30. Fair enough recording quality is good but that is not what you see.
To anyone without a quest 3 watching, the pass through is not that clear by any means. It is much better than the quest 2 but still a very notice Blur on quest 3.

The headset is just never going to be practical. I do like the idea of eventually having floating spaces with just a pair of glasses. Using AI in the kitchen will be a massive benefit. Soon enough you're going to have thousands of seasoned chefs who have no idea what they're doing but the food comes out amazing.
To expand on this, an AI could actually help cook a recipe too and it would be amazing. It would have to be integrated into the visual aspect of it all but I feel we're not far off. It could recognize stages of the recipe and set timers. It could alert you of overlooked ingredients or steps. It could have suggestions from websites already to go i.e. recognizes you are taking out the chicken and suggests you wait 10 minutes for it to cool or use a couple of forks.
Yeah lmao, like how the fuck is having this strapped to your face any easier than just propping your phone or tablet up against something with the recipe open? It's not like you're looking at the recipe the entire time you're cooking, you just glance every now and then.

If my pot makes a sound and awards me points for adding the correct ingredient I will become addicted to cooking.

Haha no joke the first thing that I did with the Quest 3 was prep an entire dinner with a giant screen playing TV above the stove. It was amazing.
adding this to my bucketlist lol
Did u ask the ai how to touch scolding hot chicken with your bare hands too?😊
@@BabyMikeVenom theres literally no mention of chicken, or using bare hands in this comment, what are you on about?
@david-rf7tf I'm on about the fact that he asked the AI how to make his hands more heat resistant opposed to just using tongs or something. That part of this video lives rent free inside my sack
Can you make it follow you floating around on the side far enough to not look weird but still follows you?
Hello Again,
After reading the reviews, and watching your great video. I am ordering the Quest 3 today.
Thank you ALL!
You know what’s cool? Seeing videos in the quest that has been recorded with and from another person’s quest device. Is like experiencing their reality, sound cool to me
At least your eyes won't water when cutting onions 🧅😭
The facial interface is not air tight, and I doubt it would be desirable for it to be air tight.
I wouldn't stand right above the hot steam with my Quest 3. It has air vents all around and will suck in all that moisture, needless to say that it won't do the hardware any good.
"How can I make my hands heat resistant?" Bro went from mixed reality to full virtual 😂😂😂
There's no way he never heard of gloves 😂🎉
Yeah that part had me thinking “wow this tech is going to take away our ability to think critically.”
Wow, the potential.....I could be in class work, while in my quest, making dinner...amongst other things. Thanks for showing the quests potential, I am sooo excited to get mine
Wow, thank you so much for this! I will definitely try this next time I am cooking!
This is sooo Great. Thank you, Tassi for this Most inspiring video
Quest 3's passthrough isn't that detailed in the actual lenses when I used it...
because he's mirroring it to a screen, the mirrored screen doesn't show the graininess of passthrough
Good to see your cooking experience was so great
I'd love to do this but just the information you can get from this is astounding
Excellent video demonstrating some everyday use cases for two emerging technologies. Really makes me think of what other activities could benefit from AR/MR. I'm a musician and feel like it could be really helpful for practicing.
I did it few times already and it is really great. Last time I watched half of a movie while I was preparing dinner :D

Brilliant idea - I’m interested in buying a headset but a total Newbie!! Keep up the great work!
i had the idea to todo this with the rayban glasses instead. i guess the color passthrough makes it good enough though
your passthrough looks so great on quest3
Just a tip,If you are able to project the Chat GPT mobile app, you should be able to interact with ChatGPT with your voice instead of typing But Great work😃
That doesn't work on Quest, but it will work on the Vision Pro because all iPhone apps will work on it by default.
That doesn't work on iPhone not on the quest, you could even sideload the chatgpt android app
I never thought to do this thank you!
now we need normal size glasses with these options
It is worth noting that the ambient image is not as clear as the one recorded in the video.
Definitely. An equal number of pixels in a RUclips window vs filling your entire vision with them is different.
No wonder, I am surprised that his image is very clear, when mine is different, I thought my quest 3 has defect
i get it now. thanks guys - i was totally confused@@stms6077
Pass through image is improved now should try this test again
we are living in the future...

it would be interesting to change the background to virtual with windows on real areas over the chrome window. how to do it?
to touch the hot chicken, just wait it cools down!! 😃

Yes i cook for a living and i wish i had the money for start up cooking app
What type of app would you want to build? What's your favorite cooking app?
Great, I am now thinking and interested in getting the Quest 3! Question: Do you have any simple Unity app to show for Quest 3 or 2? Thanks
Maybe Cubism

The only question I have is why did you keep the onion skin on the onion ?
All that sticky stream getting on to your quest and inside the gaps... did you find a hack to save it 🤔
I didn't know coming out was still a thing in 2023
Would be cool if you could set the keyboard to be on your kitchen counter, so that you can type faster
how is your pass through video so clear?
Second browser window, how exactly?
You can drag tabs into new windows on Quest
@@tassilovg Thanks figured it out
How did you manage this? Via Quest Browser?
imagine the future where employers slap one of these on for job tutorials lol
I believe this is more worth it, but however, when he reviewed with it cooking, he did reply he was very sick of motion sickness, so maybe it’s better to cook irl, which he is doing but in VR, I think it’s better cook irl without the vr.
0:09 ; 3:02 i hear camera screaming - HEEELP XD
With a better headstrap like bobovr it'll be perfect
Dude. Take 2 forks and pull the chicken apart 😂😂
How you lock the browser windows in quest 3 ? I mean the browser windows don't follow you ? That sick 😊
wow this is so cool!!!!
Guess VR is is quite new for you. You'll be a lot more surprised of what it is capable of
Use two forks to pull hot chicken apart.
You just throw the onion skin into that soup lel
With the new Meta AI integrated, there will be a lot less typing. It will a much better experience then
Some people like me have been experiencing awful pass through even under great lighting conditions. It is unbearable.
It’s cool but slightly blurry when you’re actually using the headset. The video is deceiving slightly.
Dirty Chicken Hands! ftw :)
Does everything look grainy for you because for most the quest 3 is actually grainy on most vr headsets right now. Even on my own after settings have been set to high quality settings its still grainy and whorped looking.
yup same here
What headset is that in the photo as it’s not a quest 3
wow just wow this future is now
How do you get high quality pass through?
I don't know the exact issue you are facing. But I think this might "help".

lol forgot the link
So was the browser connected to the internet via WiFi, no PC required? Thanks this was really interesting. Laurie. NZ. 😊
Yes connected via Wifi. Glad you enjoyed it!
Meta need create a smart glass like quest 3 or better 😎
Great video but keep in mind that you shouldn't need ai to tell you how to deal with pulling apart hot chicken :p
Yoooo.... How did that steam affect your vr tho?
No not really tbh.
Try steam your phone for 30 min, it will not make it explode
Too bad, the see through quality aint half as good in my headset
Dude .. what headset are you wearing in the cover photo? It's not a Q3. Very cool video, nonetheless.
The issue here is that the passthrough camera is worse than a phone from 15 years ago.
Honestly havent seen a camera this bad since i was a young teen, im now 30.
Fair enough recording quality is good but that is not what you see.
Does any other person with a quest 3 have really bad quality on the AR ?
yup i do
Did he just put the onion skin in the pot…? Is that a thing people do?
How was the soup?
Delicious
xD so funny you ask gpt how to resist heat
Virtual salmonella can’t hurt you 😂
To anyone without a quest 3 watching, the pass through is not that clear by any means. It is much better than the quest 2 but still a very notice Blur on quest 3.
PLEASE dont expose your quest to that much steam 😭
dangerous and fun!

Vr is fantastic
That steam cannot be good for the headsets internals...
If there were voice input, it will be more efficient 😊

There is voic3 input. Who told you that it doesn't lol
Yep using your dirty hands typing on an invisible keyboard 😊

Pass through video is nowhere, and I mean nowhere as clear as the capture. It's grainy and warps on the edges. New buyers you have been warned.
You are right. But I can say that you get used to it and I did not get motion sickness. It's a big upgrade over Quest Pro. It is all relative.
"The image quality is very impressive", according to Tassilo.
What a mess lmao
