    Listening to Sandra talk about her character is always such a joy. So intelligent and articulate (and obviously well-read), she's helped me appreciate acting as a true art form. Now let's get her and Jodie back onscreen together. I don't care in what form. They are magic together.

    What a woman! I've never seen an actor as eloquent and smart as Sandra Oh, she truly understands her characters and appreciates the role of art and media in our life. I could listen to her talk for hours and hours. They couldn't have hired a better Eve Polastri, and I love how much she cares about the Villaneve ship.

      Interesting how she talks about all of season four as the “fourth act” and describes basically just the last two episodes as what she wanted it to be. I’m always trying to read between the lines when she’s talking about the season and the finale.

    • @antonykyte8077

      I agree she does just talk about final 2 episodes but for me that was the problem they tried to shove too much stuff in to 2 episodes so when she says we needed to see them have a normal relationship that should have been one full episode not 10 minutes. It sounds like Sandra had a big say what direction the show went in which is fine but to follow the same path of the first three seasons and keep them apart was just lazy writing.

      @@antonykyte8077 Let's not forget that both Jodie & Sandra are executive producers of the show, but still, they are just one of those many producers of the show, so saying that Sandra can have a say for the show is not totally true, because Laura Neal as a head writer, and other writers and the other producers and the Network itself are the one who are totally had a say for the story plot. Tbh, we should be thankful for Sandra and Jodie because both of them did their best to fight for their characters and their connection (intimacy) wherein they both requested and improvised those few adorable couple moments and that amazing kissing scenes, they knew that fans needed that.

    I love the way Sandra explains it, I got it. I know she's trying her best not to be bitter and just to prioritized the beautiful memories they had on making this masterpiece. I'm also grateful for her and Jodie on keep asking and requesting and improvising scenes such as that kissing scene and some intimate scene between E & V, they both as a executive producers, they made sure that the fans will be able to get those moments even the head writer Laura Neal, other producers & writera and the Network itself are totally ruining the show and failed to give a proper send off the show. I'm just thankful that there's Sandra & Jodie who's trying to see the silver lining on that not so good writing results of the show runners.

      She's basically repeating what Laura Neal said in her post season interview. But yes, the stance on Eve being life while Villanelle being death is highly reductive of both ladies. And goes to show how Killing Eve's attitude regarding them both went from the grey to the black and white.

    Too bad the fourth season was terrible and the ending so badly written, bigoted, and sumbmerged by a travesty of christian symbolism (Wth?). I could have accepted everything (Villanelle's death, Eve's death, them dying together, an alien attack, etc), but it had to be conceived well. This wasn't , without even going to the Bury your gays trope (I mean, a whole writers room and nobody thought about it?). The only lights in the finale were these 2 incredible actresses and their breathtaking chemistry, that produced that kiss, so truthful, so powerful. Such a beautiful series deserved a real ending, not that horrid thing.
    Anyway, dear Entertainment Weekly, why there wasn't any question about the reactions at that finale, the backlash from the public and the critics? Too starstruck to remember to be journalists?

    Upon watching this interview with Sandra Oh and reading those of Sally Woodward Gentle and Laura Neal, not only did I get a better understanding of what they hoped to achieve with the last season of Killing Eve and it's finale, but of how much the finished product put to screen failed in its aims.
    The everywoman became a box to which Eve's character was willfully pigeonholed, which is ironic because by seasons 3 & 4, she became less relatable became as time went on while Villanelle was given more for viewers to relate to and identify with. Something Sandra & Co greatly underestimated with disastrous results.

    I'm not even going to bother listening to this. I have seen other interviews and I was very disappointed in what Sandra said, I still love her for all the good she gave us (just like Jodie), but I cannot understand how she defends and supports the decisions made in this last season and how even she proposed much of what we saw. I can't understand anything they did with Eve this season, I felt like there was almost nothing left of the character I used to love. Ugh I'm still so sad and upset, what a horrible season 😔

    • @elizabethwhite1068

      Ditto everything. I cannot understand how she thinks and repeats the same awful things LN has said. To hear her say that the ending is "correct", that V is death and Eve is life, is so deeply disappointing. I don't know how to square that with her love for Villaneve. I love her and this isn't Sandra bashing, just hurt and confusion.

    • @AGLadyBird

      @@elizabethwhite1068 Exactly, I really try not to direct my anger towards her because I know that this was the responsibility of the writers but hearing her say those things only generates more pain. They clearly aren't going to acknowledge how terribly poorly written this season was, so I just wish they'd at least stop talking about it, if they have any respect for the fans, we don't need to hear all that nonsense.

      "it's important to give them a chance to have a normal, boring relationship: away from the world, all by themselves. and i think we've achieved that" is she really talking about the 2 minute long scenes in the WHOLE 4th season that were ruined 15 minutes after??

    • @digasparian
      @digasparian 2 года назад +1

      + her praising Eve for finally coming to Villanelle with that "you know why i'm here, i need you etc" bullshit. she should've been there for V way before and way MORE. meanwhile it seems she was only there for as long as V was of use for her.
      season 4 had way more potential. they could've finally fixed things between Eve and Villanelle, yet not only they ruined Eve's character by turning her into an asshole (towards V mainly), but they've also successfully destroyed whatever Eve and Villanelle had.

    • @digasparian
      @digasparian 2 года назад +1

      @Galloping Goose and yes, it was extremely cruel towards Villanelle. i think we were all rather expecting her to finally find peace within herself.

    I love Sandra Oh , I caught Killing Eve because of Sandra. However, KE didn't have to be this Philosophical.....it wasn't until S3. Now I understand what has happened with S4 ...Too much overthinking resulting in pandora's box, too much complexity by the writers which was not needed in the final season ... too much symbolism .... like really !!! all of it made a mess of S4 Ms. Sandra should have looked at S1 and S2 ..... creatively, the problem is not the end, (though I am NOT happy with it ....I wanted a happy ending or they both should have died...Killing V ... was never the option in my mind..but OK) it is how it has been dealt .... look at the pace of S4, why new characters where introduced in the final season? Unfortunately, being an Executive producer of the show, Ms. Sandra has ruined the masterpiece. Going forward... I hope Ms. Sandra picks up on the points written by the critics and the fans on various platforms and does not make the same mistake in the future.

      You’re thinking of a Producer, and EP gives money to a project and gets the title of EP. Sandra wasn’t a decision maker nor did she write the episodes. She and Jodie didn’t know how they were going to end it until they were handed the script, so it’s really uncool and unfair to lay all the blame on her. If you have been following all the interviews it seems that all of the good things that came from season 4 was from Sandra and Jodie improvising…the things we liked about the last episode were bc Sandra Oh fought for those things. Put the blame where it belongs.

      @@lunarikariko981 kindly listen to the interview closely... how writers asked her to include the impact of Covid in the last season to which Sandra agreed and the ending was changed where V dies instead of Eve because in their heads(writers and Sandra) Eve represents everyday women ...and she has to live on to celebrate life (listen carefully also check the tone..) . Also in her other KE interviews she had clearly mentioned that the reason for her to become an EP was to be part of the creative process and have a say in the scripts unlike Jodie who was just an actress in this project who can just give her opinion but her inclusion is not necessary. I have been following these actresses for a long time now ... Through the experiences of Grey z Anatomy , Sandra came to knw the significance of being a part of the creative process ... how opinions and ideas from actors matter and makes the story fresh and strong ....Jodie in her next TV project is going be an Executive Producer. Sandra explained that Eve represented every day woman whereas V is a charismatic, larger than life figure ... thus it is important that Eve suvives ....she has to live... to give hope .......According to Sandra Jodie was also on board with this.....(but I don't think so ... because her tone got low and there was no eye contact ..Jodie couldnt have done much as she was just an actress in this project...I think she has learnt from this experience because in her next 2 projects Jodie is also the Executive Producer) when you listen to the entire interview ull get what im saying.
