Airsoft is a great replacement for dry fire though. I have two Glock airsoft pistols and an airsoft AR-15. With ammo being so expensive, it's nice to be able to practice in your own back yard. Each practice only costs a few dollars in expenses. It's a lot cheaper and easier than loading a few hundred rounds and driving out to the range. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go out to the range, but that airsoft is a great way to cheaply practice in addition to going to the range.

Pretty cheap around $15ish and the tanks alone are also. But youll need some silicone lube. 2-3 drops before you stick the adaptor on is what I find works well. Then around 5-6 mags a few more drops. Cheaper in the long run, but the downside is the smell of propane. All greengas is, is propane without the smell and silicone oil added in. Hope this helps!

For those actually interested, VFC makes CO2 powered Glock 17s that are probably the best option for those of us in the US. "Green gas" powered pistols are great, but the mags will quickly lose pressure as they cool down while rapid firing. CO2 is far less succeptible to such effects, and works in much colder temperatures as well.
As someone who started out with Airsoft and is now slowly transitioning to real firearms, he's 100% right. The skills do transfer.
Also if you do decide to go with green gas, just buy propane tanks and adapters. They're orders of magnitude cheaper than green gas. Just make sure to maintain the various seals with the proper lubricants etc.

It helps if you use a light bearing holster, that way you can train with your range gear and just swap out the firearm. Another nice thing about airsoft is they make great wall decorations. I always wanted to have a gun wall in my living room but for obvious security reasons it just doesn't make sense to have thousands of dollars of real guns hanging in your livingroom. But I finally made my dream come true by buying airsoft versions of every real gun I own and hanging them on the wall. They are also fun to shoot but from a decorative perspective they are 10/10. Most of the ones I have are officially licensed by the real gun companies so they are literally identical. My FNX45 and my FN licensed GBB airsoft FNX45 are so similar you can actually put the real magazines in the airsoft gun and the airsoft magazines in the real gun. The field strip and full takedown are identical too, alot of the parts are exactly the same. If I handed you both of them you wouldn't be able to tell the difference without looking down the barrel, dropping the mag, or racking the slide. It did come with a orange tip but it has a threaded barrel and the orange colored paint is only on the removable thread protector. Once you paint over the orange part on your guns they look perfect. Best part of all you and your friends can shoot eachother and play capture the flag and shit. The gas blow back ones are more expensive but are the most realistic and fun to shoot, but you can also get a spring powered one if you just want a cheap replica for display or using during non-livefire training (practicing quick pulls, doing disarms, or exercising in full kit) I bought a Airsoft version of my 45LongColt single action army so I can practice spinning and juggling it without fucked up my real one

Mantis X3 is 169, which is the price of a decent airsoft gun and an extra mag. What the mantis also does is a ton of features for live and dry fire. I'd buy it, and if you want, get an airsoft gun as well. Holster draw analysis, shot timers, tracking bad habits, and how you dry fire vs. live is all good. i can send pics, etc. Its a cheaper version of the several thousand dollar competition system you seek with olypic shooters. Sure dry fire has some drawbacks if you have to rack a slide, but the info is legit. For those who cant get to an instructor enough.
Sure, there are sponsors, but the Mantis system is more than you think. You dont need the x10. The x3 will do just fine unless you want it on a shotgun or archery.

To be fair, Mantis X isn't a bore laser, although those are marketed by other companies like Coolfire. It is actually a very sensitive multi-sensor gyroscope-accelerometer system. It isn't cheap, but it gives you real-time feedback on what your muzzle is doing before, during, and after a shot goes off - with the last 2 steps missing for dry fire. It can be used for archery as well (not for dry fire, though. Don't dry fire bows of any kind).

    • @bryandavid192
      @bryandavid192 Год назад +2

Left out on accident: it tells you what you might be doing to contribute to muzzle movement, even if you're accurate by means of movement compensation. It can also be used with airsoft if you feel like it.
A con I personally experienced: I have had one, and when I used it for live fire, it would overload somehow (a real problem that one would encounter with a system not designed and marketed for the purpose of live fire) and lose function until I restarted the device. I went through customer support to arrange an exchange. They were very courteous and replaced it free of charge, although they required me to return the unit in the original case and box. When I received the replacement, it had the same problem. Could be that they accidentally returned the original unit to me or that lightning struck twice. The third possibility is that I'm the problem because I let the gun flip too hard (which should be a pretty common issue, so I don't think that's it). The fourth possibility is that their QC is prone to an unacceptable rate of faulty units.
This was with the $250 X10 unit, which is the most expensive option (which supports all commonly available weapons with or without rails). The dryfire-only X2, which works for both pistols and rifles, is $99 (which is similar to or maybe less than what you'd be paying for the shown pistol, ammo, and the air canister, let alone if you also wanted a rifle to practice with). That one point is (I hope inadvertently) deceptive on the part of the video editor.
In short, the Mantis X2 is absolutely a cost-effective option to use on all the pistols and rifles you already have, but the X10 is significantly more expensive and versatile while possibly being less reliable for a use case not mentioned in this video.
      Hope this helps

This is great for honing in your shooting skills of all types. Except for one. When I dry fire practice, I'm memorizing every single little microscopic movement of that individual trigger. For example, if someone doesnt really shoot glocks, my Glock 19 trigger might feel the exact same as every other Glock trigger out there. But for me, it's one of a kind. It's the one that I know best. Training with an airsoft replica can help me in alot of areas, but it will NEVER replace the trigger control I've developed by dry firing the actual firearm.

    • @nickwhite2569

You dont have to buy the Mantis system. I bought a laser bore sight for $20, hung up a target in my living room, and dry fire practiced with it. It dramatically improved my aim when I was new to shooting because it gives quick feedback on what you're doing wrong. The only "training scars" that it will produce are obviously resetting the trigger after every shot and not controlling recoil. I haven't had either of these be a problem when I actually go to the range.
Airsoft is obviously fantastic for dry fire practice, especially when gas blowback is involved, but I wouldn't discount a $20 bore sight that easily. It definitely can work

I appreciate the use of airsoft for training, however, nothing beats training with your own weapon.
I didnt see that vid by him, but guntubers are sponsored by the more expensive companies that can buy RUclips sponsors.
Years ago before i saw any vids about these, i bought a reset mag and a laser tap "shell" on amazon for about 80 bucks i think. I just checked and you can aquire similar for about 115-120 depending on model of firearm. I still use them to this day. I've seen several companies trying to sell the same product for 200 or more but my setup works great, and is amazing for dryfire training. I literally drop in the laser tap shell, change my standard mag to reset and im able to practice all day.
Again, i do appreciate the airsoft. But for 115 you can use your own gun, feel its trigger, and even though you cant see a shot hole (there are systems you can buy for more that will track this), you can record by phone or other and see where the laser strikes.
Keep em high and tight, keep practicing, and prepare for anything.

Mantis is more than a dry fire system. It helps with corrective posture. Via the app. I don't have one but I can see the benefit it could have for some people.
    - I grew up shooting on a very regular basis. In my early 20s I severed some tendons in my hand that could not be repaired. And every time I went to shoot handguns after that I was always shooting low and couldn't understand y. And I am someone who got into VR gaming in the last few years and I noticed I was doing the same thing in VR shooter games. So I spent some time in a game called Contractors on quest 2 shooting targets with handguns and finally understood what was happening. Now I'm shooting heads off dandelions across the field in the summer time in real life. No more issues whatsoever. It helps to have a solid digital visual of what is happening. So I see the benefit of a mantis system.
    - basically what was happening for me is that I was lined up correctly but when I use my trigger finger to pull somehow ( due to tendons damage ) at the moment I pull on my trigger finger my pinker moves with it a small amount causing me to pull the bottom of the pistol handle into my bottom of my hand far enough to dip the barrel down at the moment I am pulling the trigger. And VR allowed me the time , space, and "free ammo" to figure out how to correct/counteract it.
