      Actually for that look, it needs to be brown and have Cooper Cobra white letter tires. And the Galaxie 500 trim removed from the side and the rear and the door window frames. Gators car was a Custom 500, the mid level trim.

    Eventually gonna be looking for a coupe version of a 71. Galaxie or LTD as they both shared the same platform. Excellent kind of blue-collar muscle look to them. They got the beak of a Pontiac and the buff of a Mopar. In terms of style, Ford really had their $hit together for 70-71. Great survivor you've got here, I do hope to be as lucky when I finally commit to my own search!

  • @davidkeeton6716

    If kept in tune and the rest maintained properly that car would run a half a million miles. Those 351W engines are some of the toughest that Ford made. I've run one 390k miles and it still ran great, it leaked from every seam, but it ran great.

    It looks just like the car used in the US TV show "The Streets of San Francisco" at the start of the series. '71 was the first year for the fan-boosted power ventilation which was standard on cars without air-conditioning. It's rare to find a rust-free car like yours and one with a cloth interior in good condition.

    A very nice original car with amazingly low mileage. I especially like the Brocade material on the seats. Even though Ford made thousands of the '71 and '72 models, here in the US these cars are seldom seen. All you need are some original hubcaps or wheel covers to finish it off. My second car was similar to yours only in blue with a 429 Police Interceptor and a C6 auto trans. That's long gone but I do have a '72 2-door with a 351 Windsor that I've owned for 26 years. These big Fords ride very smooth and were well built though rust killed most of them. I hope you keep it, it's a beauty.

    • @thomasottervig8523
      @thomasottervig8523  3 года назад +4

      Thank you.
      When I bought it in 2019, the mileage was even lower; 5800 miles. I have the original hubcaps, but I've chosen not to have them on, because I think the car look cooler without. 🙂

    I’ve got the same colour on my ‘71 convertible with magnum 500’s, great car with 35k miles on it. It was a bit slow with the 351 but AFR heads, cam, four barrel and headers made a big difference plus I get heaps better mileage.

      @@thomasottervig8523 I had the same conundrum as mine was completely original but I kept all of the stock components so all can be returned to stock. I had to do it as I have a ‘71 coupe with a hot 429 that runs mid 12’s so the convertible felt like an absolute sloth. I also have a pretty rough ‘71 custom that was ex US embassy here in Australia that I want to restore but use a 4.0 litre Barra with a single turbo, should be a great sleeper.
