I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes at 23 years of age when i saw doctor i saw a poster about sogns and symptoms of diabetes and asked my doctor to do a blood test for diabetes because i had all the signs and symptoms mentioned on poster and i went the same day to get blood work then my doctor called me the next day and told me to get to hospital as soon as possible because i have T1 diabetes i stayed in hospital for 2 weeks to get my sugars under control and to learn how to manage my diabetes at home. Also i had DKA at time of diagnosis but it wasnt severe DKA. I have been in severe DKA to point of being in ICU which is very scary. But one thing i learned is to be easy on yourself because this is not a easy medical condition to deal with but you got this
@@michaellaclark1148 thank you for sharing! I’m glad you were able to see the signs and get proper treatment! I know a lot of people have a similar story. Important to go easy on yourself, too! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing, I think it's really empowering for newly diagnosed diabetics to hear stories like yours. I suspect I was lucky to get it younger, I didn't really understand what it was and thus the emotions weren't as overwhelming.
This means a lot, thank you! I think there’s pros and cons to whenever someone is diagnosed, but no matter when it happens, I’m glad we’re not alone in it 👍
This is the best aspect of a site like RUclips and creators like yourself. I honestly don't have any close friends that are diabetics, so being able to watch videos and learn about other diabetic experiences makes this disease feel less lonely. Keep up the great work!
I get feeling relieved about getting a diagnosis. I went through something similar with months of no answers and being anxious and scared about what was wrong with me. Getting the answer feels empowering and relieving big time.
Not T1, but became T2. My doctor never informed me how close I was, but I had started losing weight. I would have lost the weight more quickly and added strength training. I have lost a lot of weight, 50lbs since diagnosis. I'm almost at my 20 year old, college weight with a 34" waist. I hate my doctor for not giving me the information I needed to prevent this. I think I'm deeply depressed. I can't imagine how you Type 1s deal with this.
I’m sorry that you had a bad experience with the doctor. I hope you can find better help, especially if it’s impacted your mental health. Even so, it’s incredible to hear you’ve made some great changes for health! 50 lbs is amazing! Us Type 1’s are trying to be healthy, like you. Wishing you the best 💪
Was diagnosed type 1 diabetic and positive for GAD autoantibodies, interestingly though, the past 9 months GAD autoantibodies decreased and became negative. No longer on insulin, hba1c dropped. In remission now
Type 1 diabetics never get off of insulin though so were u possibly misdiagnosed initially because it does happen. Sometimes a younger person is assumed to b tupe 1 but they r really Type 2. Sometimes an older person is assumed to b type 2 when they r really Type 1. My diagnosis initially was type 2 but was officially changed to type 1.

Love that you felt empowered! Not knowing can be very hard so I’m glad this resonated.
Thank you for sharing.
Appreciate you 🙏

Wow, that’s awesome! Are you doing anything different to cause that?
@@archetypeone high dose of Calcitriol, Quercetin, resveratrol and some other things which were suggested to me.
@@archetypeone I did high dose vitamin D calcitriol, Quercetin later on a combination of GLP1-A and Harmine
@@alanchong333 very interesting. Well congratulations! Hope you can stay off insulin and keep that A1C down 👍
