Good man, I see you must've jumped of at exit 10 an picked up US 75 south. I've been watching you for a while now. Looks like you're running my old stomping grounds. Ks nebraska iowa south Dakota. You and I have probably crossed paths more than a few times.
I am in Omaha and remembered this cold temperature, I never minded it to much as I rather have the cold then the snow. I enjoy your videos, they are rather relaxing and helps clear the mind on shitty days.
I know you quote the temp as what the wind chill is but my boss when I drove, said "wind chill doesn't affect equipment".right or wrong I always made sure fuel and filters never gelled cause it wasn't him that was sitting on the side of the road in the cold.keep on trucking,my friend and rub that beautiful German.
I don't even know how I found your channel, I play American Truck Simulator, so I guess searches resulted in me finding this content. But sure am glad! I put you on as I build my Warhammer 40k models and watch your travels. Been fantastic! Here's wishing your future self all the safe travels, as this is older content
Hey buddy You just perfectly described the covid experience I had with my nose and all those terrible smells. All that when I was driving and seemed to have stopped when I came back to flying just over a year ago. Love the vids Kurt.
Kurt~ you have a good life! Thanks for a nice long video~ really enjoyed the night scenes. When you are feeling down~ remember you are ESSENTIAL! America runs on truckin’ ~ have a great sleep.
Just gotta love our Midwest weather. Riding the Harley one day and freezing your assets the next. Big congratulations to Paige! It's great to see kids with ambition and desire to make the most of everything they can. Your kids are so amazing and you do right by them as a great dad. Stay warm and God bless.
That was my favorite part of trucking. Crawling through those towns in the mddle of the night, with no traffic. Take care Kurt. Todd Konoske the retired trucker.
I put socks over the fuel filters after fueling at Little America Wy. in late 1980's. No problem was only one running next morning. Temps were 20-25 below, high winds, bad night. Gave ride to England driver in NE, said he was about to freeze and no one would help. Stay safe.
Thursday was sunny and 64 degrees. A beautiful day to replace my air dryer and leveling valve. Friday and today are wet and cold. I'm so over this. lol.
Those cold ass days with a bunch of wind take the sap right out of a guy. It was subzero most of the week here. Finally saw some better weather today when it got up to fifteen above
Your K.W. always looks so beautiful. Glad it is running just fine. STAY WARM, STAY WELL & STAY SAFE. Regards to your wonderful family. FRANKIE LONG ISLAND
Hey Curt. It's being 70 degrees every today down here. Better than my hometown of Waterloo, Iowa. Only bad part. TORNADOES. One touched down about 40 miles from me in Atmore, Alabama.
Sitting in my recliner with a cat sleeping on me and a dog sleeping beside me, I can't help saying that Opie is such a good traveling companion/friend/member of your family. And my dogs love cheeseburgers too!
Know that feeling Kurt brother over here in wyoming we dropped from sunday the 20th to monday the 21st from a high of 62 to a high of -2 in 16 hours... With wind chills we pegged out at -41
UK has some of your wind out of the texa gulf and now from across your "northern states" gust over 110mph, so thanks for that. lol (Good job we life in the eastern side so it slows down some by then to 70/80. But All ours are built of Skin brick and heavy clay tile roof, You gotta go some to move that. Oh, Super Dan was running across your states on 23rd.
This cold air has really sucked the spunk out of me. I know how you feel. Except our temps have not been as cold as where you are. Here on the west coast we get a taste of what comes your way so, at least you know what's coming. Unless it comes from Canada, That's great news about Paige. She will do just fine. I see a lot of new freeways and bridges being built. It will be interesting how everything that is going on will play out Stay safe and WARM.
Have you ever let the kingpin slide over the fifth wheel and get hung up I did that once back years ago did not do that anymore 😁KEEP ON TRUCKIN 🚛 🇺🇲 👍
34:57 After more than three trillion turns on landing gear handles, one would think that by now, there's be an easy up/down (portable drill) fitting, which would enable the more savvy truckers to use a fast motor driver, such as a De-Walt (or Makita) driver with socket/chuck - to wind them useless landing gear handles, instead of the old-school, bust yer' gut and AROUND & around ye go - twiddling them handles ..
Hi Kurt its David in va again, i lol last wk went you walked in that store got that zlingers! jackpot! now you have me eating them, having one now! stay safe!
You probably could have taken a pair of needle nose pliers and pulled fuel out of that filter like a popsicle! I sure remember those days and life before air dryers👎. You definitely had a long day and hope you get some good rest and some better weather! Keep the great videos coming and stay safe and God bless 👍👍
Great videos,I’m a new subscriber.I was a line haul driver for a freight company for 30 years, along with my dad.We are both retired now and we had a lot of laughs.Great times, missed a lot of family things however that’s why we did it,all for the family.Stay safe and I’ll keep watching.Gregg.
About oil, study upon synthetic oil, mobile 1 was first to produce, , always use filter also. I was in comical refrigeration, several 500hp screw compressors, use synthetic in my cart and I& truck.
CONGRATS PAIGE ‼️this has been the most crazy weather in February. If, you could find a $ dollar store you could get tupperware cheap. I was also thinking that you could warm up the wet food for Opie, would mix easier and he may like it that way. Get some gloves to put on when giving him them treats, or I found wet wipes with lemon and it will take care of that smell. Drive safe stay warm 😊🐾🦮🐕🦺🌬❄️🥶
Been out of a truck for a month coming and I’m getting another opportunity to get back in watching make me get a refreshed look at how alive this trucks are ,they feel part of me at times even more if I get my own then I’ll really I run my own path ,to the future 🥂
i was just thinking while watching this video again. It would not be hard to make first class plug into shore power when parked to keep the batteries charged. Could even install an inlet like on the outside of a camper. that way your cooler and refrigerator would still work and batteries won't go dead. Just a thought.
Hi Kurt Fantastic video again, your are just like I was, always looking after your family and your dogs. Give my regards to Opie, he’s one famous dog and a beautiful boy also. Kind regards from Scotland 🏴 Johnny
Nice to see you had the bike out on your previous video, I'm away on Sunday, member of a bike club which is 120 miles away. I have the BMW k1600. Looking around 350 to 400 miles on Sunday. Hi to opie. 😁 Peter from 🇬🇧
0:31 Yes I hear that, it's the sound of a DEISEL motor getting insufficient fuel injected as it has water-polluted-fuel, in it's lines - with the water freezing into ice and inhibiting the fuel pump's ability to pressurize the injectors correctly, hence you have "pinking/knocking noises far above the regular "diesel knocking sound" one gets with cold engines at start-up / idle. Oh sure replace the fuel filters, as that will work for about the first twenty liters of fuel - that they filter any "bad water contamination" out of, after that - your motor SHOULD be hot enough and possibly under load too - as you go driving along the highway - for you to not "notice" the knocking sound again. ... You sir have water in your fuel tanks which needs to be 'drained" - so that you ONLY have diesel going to the filter - not ice crystals floating along in that contaminated fuel.. ... Oh and what ? FROZEN AIRLINE - are you mad sir? Your airlines as you put it, come from the HUGE air-cleaner at the side of your cab - through HUGE fully open airways - which is UNLIMITED AIR, going to your motor - and is NEVER controlled at any point, not even your throttle (foot pedal) controls ANY AIR, thus it isn't a frozen airline !!!! ... In fact - no diesel has any controlled air (into the motor) which is why a diesel is subject to RUNAWAY - being the uncontrolled "sucked-in" motor oil /sump oil that allows a buggah'ed motor (possibly with at least one cracked ring, or more - or a blown head gasket) to suck into the motor your sump oil - which sadly burns like crazy - when uncontrolled entry into the pistons allows that sump oil to burn uncontrolled (the throttle your truck uses is ONLY a way to control the injected diesel - into the motor - nothing to do with AIR, thus if you had any "frozen" air filter - that truck would be totally silent - with the motor completely unable to run. .... Your car on the other hand - with that low octane of just 87 (?) It will sound like that - as soon as you floor it / "hit the gas pedal" as it won't have enough power in that low octane fuel to overcome pre-ignition of the petrol. p.s: Diesel oil is HYDROSCOPIC (as well as having a lot of water left in it - during it's manufacturing processes that hasn't been completely removed), meaning that if your truck is left out in the open, or used during wet weather (when the moisture / rain etc., is able to "re-enter" the fuel tanks via the breather vents in the tanks) - your tanks will eventually get a "large quantity" of water sitting in the bottom of them, which can be "sucked up" into your fuel lines - with the result of your fuel filters being overloaded with water to the point of it all "freezing" in the filters, or worse - anywhere in your fuel lines - making the running of the truck after starting - a noise from hell sound. ... Oh & might I also add, that if you "get" enough stray water pooling ANYWHERE in your fuel lines whilst your truck is not running - wherever it sits overnight - you may well discover oh shock horror, EXPLODED fuel pipes, burst by freezing water turning into a "bigger volume" of ice - splitting valuable "plastic" fuel pipes and copper feed lines. ... Just removing a small quantity of water out "at the fuel filers" is NEVER going to remove enough water from your entirely contaminated tank & pipework system, to avoid some very expensive repairs, possibly a long way from civilization (on a cold windy / rain & wet snow-swept /black-ice covered highway) - when it all goes BANG - and your truck motor dies. These fuel filters are there specifically to remove fine particles of solids (rock dust/ rust etc.,) from clean fuel that has little to zero water contamination If you are needing to replace filters often (in wet / winter weather) - look to having a good "DRAINING" of your fuel tanks to flush out any water lying in the tanks - & if enough is found there, drain your entire full piping system and air-blow all your after-pump "injector" system as well, to remove as much "ice-forming water as possible. Simply replacing stuffed filters often in the vain hope of removing all water - is a recipe for disaster out on a lonely highway when you least expect it - when BANG and your motor has serious no-go issues
I used to go to Rural Kings and buy a case of the Winter Power Service, I poured a bottle in each tank per fillup, cheap insurance, especially when your in Nebraska blizzards and the wind chill drops to 30 below, running back and forth across I 80 into the Northeast, Power Service saved the day, carrying those spare filters also, Stay Warm Sir..
1 You forget the fuel cap or is it missing 2 You paid for a personalized plate and her fuel 3 She better be maken straight A's . 4 Thank you for getting stuff from one point to another so we have our stuff 😎
Watching you pour that thick chocolate milk, wanted to climb in video and drink it for you. Little sugar cannot drink it anymore. Opie looks satisfied.
Hey Kurt , man - 16 degrees. There's no way I could function in that temperature. I live in Florida and a couple of weeks back we got down into the 40's and I could not get going. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sticking with CAT filters. I have been through many test classes from mother cat years ago and the tests they spent big bucks on to filtration properties VS aftermarket brands. Well yeah the sell the brand but they have the tests to back it up.. Carry on brother
3:40 - I've always wondered if there is any type of "short-framed" camper-type swap body that could be easily slid onto the fifth wheel assembly, to act as if a mobile-home / temporary camper, when bob-tailing across the USA (or a swap body hire company that makes & then offers these for hire to bob-tailers) as a lot of truckers seem to do long distance bob-tailing between trailer pickups, as it would appear to be a lucrative side-business for trailer parks etc., for them to "hire-out" such units to truckers who could use them as short-stay motel units (on the fly) - allowing them to pull into a roadside rest stop and have a good sleep for a couple of hours, totally removed from the cab/cabin spaces (for their logged-off times to be easily entered into log books) - to allow them a longer running time when driving long-hauls. Thus when dropping off a loaded trailer one simply "backs in" and couples a camper, then when at the place one "picks up" the next loaded trailer, there'd be an off-loading low-platform building assembly, that would allow you to reverse-in & slide those off your bob-tail "swap-body / camper-box" and a "swipe terminal" to pay for your use of that with a time hired printout - allowing the next bob-tailer to pick it up - for their "between jobs" camper conversion of a bob-tailed unit, and for you to enter that receipt into your log-book to prove how long you've had a sleep on the roadside somewhere. Seems a complete waste of time bob-tailing (too light & empty) for many miles, before getting a heavy fifth wheel loaded trailer - that "end" grounds the weight onto the end of the truck.. It would also allow for bob-tailers to have that little bit of 'extra weight" when bob-tailing - (increasing braking ability - when sliding along ice & snow covered / slippery roads).
And yes I'm now a believer in the Hills formula never used it before but it's like my mom's Jack Russell came back to life please talk to your vet about it they'll point you in the right direction I'm almost positive
Oh no!! Sorry the cold weather has got you down. Here in El Reno we got about 1/2" to 3/4" of ice covering everything its like a skating rink all over here.
I forgot to add in, THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING OUT THERE AND DRIVING TO PROVIDE FOOD AND MATERIALS FOR ALL OF US.
Your welcome
Man I so enjoy when we’re on the road with minimal or no traffic. The roar and the sweet hum of the engine of First Class is pure music. Thank You!

Another great video!!!
Drove an exact same model like your Freightliner with a 400 B model Cat, 15 speed and airride, 280 WB, love old iron!
Enjoy your videos. I live in KC. Spent a lot of time growing up in Nebraska. That I29 drive is no fun.

You've gotta love changing fuel filters on a cold frosty morning. You'll smell that diesel all day.
Pull the fan cover off plug in cooler & clean the dog furr off the components. They work really well again
Have you ever let the kingpin slide over the fifth wheel and get hung up I did that once back years ago did not do that anymore 😁KEEP ON TRUCKIN 🚛 🇺🇲 👍
Once I have
Well I know we are not the only ones I've seen others do it👍
That's what they call been there done that 😁
34:57 After more than three trillion turns on landing gear handles, one would think that by now, there's be an easy up/down (portable drill) fitting, which would enable the more savvy truckers to use a fast motor driver, such as a De-Walt (or Makita) driver with socket/chuck - to wind them useless landing gear handles, instead of the old-school, bust yer' gut and AROUND & around ye go - twiddling them handles ..
Maybe an air operated landing gear, something similar to the air release pin for the sliding trailer axles.
9:45 - I think I'll go this way, that way - maybe the top way over there, or - nah lets just cruise left eh?
Getting your oil changed. Look liked something from Ice Road Truckers.
Amazing as always thanks. God bless you
those hot pockets are so addicting exspecially the ham and cheese one mmmmm

It will sound like that - as soon as you floor it / "hit the gas pedal" as it won't have enough power in that low octane fuel to overcome pre-ignition of the petrol.
p.s:
Diesel oil is HYDROSCOPIC (as well as having a lot of water left in it - during it's manufacturing processes that hasn't been completely removed), meaning that if your truck is left out in the open, or used during wet weather (when the moisture / rain etc., is able to "re-enter" the fuel tanks via the breather vents in the tanks) - your tanks will eventually get a "large quantity" of water sitting in the bottom of them, which can be "sucked up" into your fuel lines - with the result of your fuel filters being overloaded with water to the point of it all "freezing" in the filters, or worse - anywhere in your fuel lines - making the running of the truck after starting - a noise from hell sound.

SuperTruckerDan mentioned you in today's video
Turkey u broke our backs again lol
That's a really cold day. Stay safe my friend. God bless you 🙏.
A friend of mine use to use disposable diapers and a little duct tape to help keep the filters warm, going down the road.
Hey Dad look your son is Wiley using gloves while he's feeling up
1 You forget the fuel cap or is it missing 2 You paid for a personalized plate and her fuel 3 She better be maken straight A's . 4 Thank you for getting stuff from one point to another so we have our stuff 😎
On newer vehicles they sort of built the cap right into the flap. There is no screw on piece. You shut the outside flap and it plugs the hole.
4.0 GPA. And it doesn't have a Cao.
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 Good for her 😁 . Nice to hear atleast one young Lady that takes her studies serously .

Have you ever thought about a power inverter to power a dorm refrigerator, you will need a 1800 or 2500 watt to power you microwave and refrigerator

Helpful hints. Get a couple spoonfuls add a little bit of water & microwave it for a few seconds. Then mix it with his food.
