so this is my opinion on the ebc rp-x pads on the road. i completed the bedding in process which was done at considerably lower legal speeds compared to the instructions. yes i know they are race track pads on not for the road but ebc boast great cold performance and i agree with them. they work fantastic cold.
iv done a complete brake swap and removed the endless front brake pads and discs to replace with ebc discs and rp-x race pads. iv swapped the rear godspeed pads and standard disc for a ebc disc and bluestuff pad.

Fitted similar EBC discs and standard road pads to my daughters car. The paint replaces the oily coating of old to prevent corrosion. They don't require the coating cleaning off prior to use. The pads do this. Only require cleaning on installation if you've managed to get greasy fingerprints etc on the braking surface.
Dave's correct.
I put EBC brakes all around on my car and you are correct, the pads remove the black coating.
Deffinately a wind up Steve, ive never heard anyone removing the black coating before driving.
I wish EBC did more stuff for my Astra mk6. Keep up the great videos
Black coating is added for storage purposes. Mercedes discs are the same and they look like they’ve been sprayed in primer. All comes off within a few miles and safe to drive.
Self cleaning discs then Steve, obviously wouldn't come off by rubbing the face , pads did the job , glad your happy with the initial performance of the new kit , keep at it Steve 😁😷💪😎
Hey Steve good video we all like to go fast its also nice to get stopped 👍
That paint is just the coating for the discs to stop them rusting in storage, lots of good quality discs come like it and they wear the coating off with the pads. You only need to clean the discs that come with a greasy coating.
Great stuff yep looking forward to the next track day Steve....🏎🏎🏎
correct the black paint that covers the disk stays on to be worn off by the pad. helps with bedding in and stops the disk from rusting on the outside and looking cheap. when i did mine a while ago it clearly stated DO NOT REMOVE BLACK COATING on the box. aren't you supposed to do 1000 miles before bedding the disk and pad in (getting them hot). mine came with a little card saying do not apply hard forces to the brakes within the first 1000 miles?
Looking forward to another track day, really enjoyed the last one, how is the lovely Citigo, haven’t seen it for a while?.
Who ever told you to get rid of the black coating is either a wind up merchant or hasn't a clue what he's talking about. "Coloured series discs do not have a protective film coating", is what is says on the back of the box. The pads scrub it off after a few miles of driving.
it was me i am not a wind up merchant i would not take the piss when i fitted the same discs i read it as the black coating required removing and i used methylated spirits i don't give a fuck if Steve decided not to remove it i was just trying to point out that it might contaminant the pads . i have broad shoulder so if i am wrong then i am OK with it people who do not make mistakes are probably people who do nowt them selfies
@Dogs Bollocks NO now you are winding me up
Steve why did you not take us for a drive ?
Can't wait for the track footage keep up the good work!
The RPX it's good for everyday use and 3/4 track day for years? Or it's better the Blue?
How is the cold bite?
I have to choose for my Giulia Veloce TI Q4 280 cv, with scat downpipe and opf off, SprintFilter, Eibach ProKit springs and remap to 315 cv and 490 nm with 95 ron 😊
In the rear I put the Yellow because is the best for my stock caliper.. In the front I'm uncertain between Blue, Orange and RPX
Thanks for your reply
Hi Steve, I used Carbotech XP10 last year on my trakcdays, by far one of the best pads I have used, £250 new so not as expensive as the endless pads, will be really interested what these EBC pads are like on track.
Do you keep the pads in on the road, iv bought some but wondering if I need another set? Noisy? Dusty?
Cheere
Steve it was a wind up, you dont need to take the black coating off 😂😂😂
sorry Steve if you think i was winding you up but i wasn't . i enjoy your channel was just passing on what i thought should be done with them from my experience fitting them
no worries it's made for some RUclips fun anyway
